  1. I thought it might have just been me last night. I had couple Luck and TY flashbacks last night.
  2. I agree we need an elite playmaker…just not sure it needs to be a RB. If it were me, I’d be looking for that player to be a WR. And in the mean time…a true speedster/deep specialists (even if that’s all he is) would be on my short list.
  3. The receivers weren’t great, not trying to debate that. But he didn’t help them his fair share as well. Granson definitely helped him out. That ball he caught at his ankles was a really good catch. It was hard and low and didn’t need to be. I’m definitely excited about his potential. Strictly referring to his passing ability…does he have the widest gap from ceiling to floor ever? When it’s good…it’s really good. When it’s off…it’s way off. His deep ball is absolutely beautiful and it’s refreshing to see a QB who can make those throws after the last few we had. If he gets his mechanics straightened out, watch out.
  4. See…if this is even remotely true, I hope the Colts are asking for 7 1st round picks, this year!
  5. I mean it’s because you’re biased and it reflects in your thought process on the situation. And I don’t mean that towards you specifically. The simple answer is if the Dolphins are pursuing JT and not the others, they obviously like him better than the others.
  6. I hope they are being somewhat unreasonable in their demands. If JT wants an unreasonable/above market contract, seems reasonable the Colts can ask for the same in trade comp.
  7. Well I’m not going to call our WR’s busts…but Downs is the one that excites me the most. Pittman is good but needs to step up this season, imo. Pierce is still young, I’m hoping he and AR get this figured out. I’ll be more concerned if we aren’t seeing noticeable improvement by week 8-10.
  8. Oh every QB needs a prime Reggie! I was somewhat agreeing with you regarding AP. I dunno, I’m not super down on him…and AR has been targeting him. So I’m hoping it starts showing here week 8 or so. But watching him and the game tonight…if we had someone that could get behind defense’s AR can make those no problem. Trying to think of something that would help the team in the short term…a legit deep threat would be the top of my list.
  9. But see how much better it sounds the way Reid said it? Same message, different reaction.
  10. See below. I agree and understand the Colts are in a good position. I’m not trying to question any of that. But the Colts could have done all of what you are saying without ever giving JT to seek a trade, no? They could have called teams or otherwise let it be know that they would entertain trade proposals. This would more less be how the Buckner trade played out. It feels like they decided it was best to let JT seek a trade and begin negotiating contract demands with teams so he could gauge his market. And if there was a market, teams could start making offers to the Colts to meet their demands. So while the principle is essentially the same as the Buckner trade, it is different in that JT has to be allowed to at least begin contract negotiations with other teams prior.
  11. I think I understand that and will admit I wasn’t necessarily thinking about it from that angle. What was the significance of granting JT permission to seek a trade then? I understand a team would need to meet the Colt’s demands, but wouldn’t a team want to know exactly what JT is looking for first? Couldn’t the Colts have been doing this (discussing trade demands with teams) without giving permission to JT to seek a trade? Also, if the hope is that JT will realize there isn’t the market for him that he anticipates, wouldn’t his agent need to be able to discuss his contract demands with teams?
  12. This JT drama came a season early and is filled with much more drama than I expected, but it was always just around corner. I like JT a lot but I was prepared to see him leave as soon as he was drafted. I was actually worried the Colts would reset the RB market for him (prior to a few weeks ago) just because I absolutely take Ballard at his word and he has never gave any impression otherwise. JT might actually be giving the Colts a huge gift. Imagine if teams could always: 1. Draft a potential future HOF RB and use him on his RB contract 2. Recoup the draft capital spent on him and possibly more 3. Avoid paying him guaranteed franchise tag money or a 2nd contract during the risky years 4. Avoid being the villain and labeled as the team that churned & burned a star RB or don’t care for their players. If Ballard gets a 1st for Taylor and doesn’t win GM of the year, that voting is as meaningless as the pro-bowl!
  13. Not sure if you were being serious or not, but I feel like I’ve seen Carolina mentioned by some. I truly don’t get that, I feel like Frank misused JT tremendously. I am the only one who remembers the Bucs game a few years ago or the Hard Knocks episode after? Maybe it’s just me but Carolina seems like one of the least likely options.
  14. Trying to clarify my comments another way: JT doesn’t have a say in where he is traded to, just like he doesn’t have a say in playing for the Colts this year or not. His only “say” is to hold out. So in that sense, he can’t stop the Colts from trading him. Unless a player has it in their contract otherwise, this will always be the case. On that same hand, no team is going to be willing to trade him without first having assurance that he will in fact sign their contract and play for them…otherwise they would have given the Colts compensation to be in their exact position. Non-starter. So IF the reports of trade compensation being discussed are true, it’s most likely the same talks teams are having with JT’s agent (years, avg., guaranteed amount, etc.). Everyone already knew that JT wanted to be the highest paid RB (or close to it, whatever) and teams have “heard” the Colts want a 1st round pick or equivalent value. Now teams are discussing with JT’s agent what highest paid RB looks like to him exactly. Teams are also asking the Colts what 1st round pick or equivalent looks like to them exactly. This is where it’ll get tricky. But if a trade is finalized, all of this will be worked out and essentially final prior to it being announced and before JT does a physical with the new team. If any of the agreed to terms aren’t met, it all falls through.
  15. This is true. I believe I stated as much in a response to you earlier. Two things: 1. Let’s just use the Dolphins as an example. Why in the world would they reach out to the Colts about trading for JT before they talk to JT(his agent) and know what type of contract he is willing to sign? That was the significance of the Colts granting JT permission to seek a trade…his agent could begin discussing JT’s contractual desires with other teams. It would be more risk than teams are willing to take on to do it any other way. First having to meet whatever compensation the Colts request before even knowing what JT wants would be a non-starter for any team. We still don’t even know what JT wants (I know all the “reports”). But the Colt’s, JT, and his agent are the only one’s who know. If a team was talking to JT’s agent about his contract prior to the Colt’s granting them permission, well that would be tampering. 2. Does doing that to JT sound like anything even remotely close to the Chris Ballard or Jim Irsay you’ve seen? Because it sure doesn’t to me. In fact, doing something like this would absolutely destroy the Colts reputation with ALL players past, present, and future. That is not good business.
  16. Chloe, How many times you spend $100 for absolutely nothing at all? Now why would any NFL team do that? The team will not, I repeat a team will not send the Colts the paper to write the trade agreement on before first having assurances from Taylor that he will sign what ever contract they are willing to offer him.
  17. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have to agree to the trade. He asked for it, Colts can send him wherever for whatever. But I highly doubt any team is calling to offer trade compensation without being willing to offer him a contract. And I’m 99% sure that if teams are offering/discussing trade compensation to the Colts, they know exactly what type of $ JT wants.
  18. So did you believe ESPN when they broke the news that the Colts have agreed to allow JT to seek a trade?
  19. Ehh I mean in principle yes. But not enough that the head coach or GM is worried.
  20. What has the Colts said, regarding JT, that hasn’t been the truth? Edit- Disregard. I see a slew of other posters have asked the same question.
  21. This is more of a response to Holder’s tweet…but just because the STAT sheet would have looked better or been on sports center. What AR could control is better footwork and stop sailing high…then he would have had a really solid day even without the throw to AP. Don’t take this as a shot at AR…he did about what we thought. Sloppy mechanics showed up on several throws that you just have to make in the NFL. And he had some pretty darn good throws too. Literally every person can say, well if this was different, or we made that play. Meh
  22. But yet the Saints didn’t see anything on the physical? Am I missing something? Edit - Truly asking. I’ve seen it floated around, and it does make sense on its own, but wasn’t it practically a done deal with Saints?
  23. I know it can be hard to pick up sarcasm on a forum, but I feel confident saying the post you responded to was dripping with sarcasm. Not sure anymore sarcasm could be applied to it!
