  1. The thing is, it totally depends on the QB. You can ruin a QB starting them to early. Ever hear of David Carr? Not Derick.
  2. Yea I went back an edited. I assumed it was talking about Frank and the Panthers. Guess they were on the brain with their recent trade.
  3. Not sure they have any more picks left? Lol. Edit - should have read it closer. I assumed it was talking about Frank and the Panthers.
  4. Nah you take AR at 4 and then if he busts, turn him into an edge rusher or WR( can he catch?) and take someone new in 24! Yes I’m kidding…kinda!
  5. Ok, so you agree with Stephen and are ready to claim that it doesn’t really matter who the Colts draft because he can win with Bennett/Duggan just as easily as he could with any of the other QB’s in this draft? I don’t think I’m irrational at all. I’m thrilled with the HC, I’m just not willing to say he can win with anyone and the QB drafted doesn’t really matter or change that, at least not until you know, we actually get to see how Shane performs as HC. And you missed the entire point of the conversation (no surprise here with you). But I will try to make it clearer for you… “ And Hurts is Already playing like a top 2-3-4 player.” - yes I know. Thanks for helping prove my point, he isn’t just any ol’ QB. “Herbert played GREAT for a first year player on an average team. - Yup and the still had a losing record. Now SS wasn’t HC, but even they couldn’t win with Herbert that year. But the Colts team from last year can win with any QB in this years draft, according to you and Stephen. Rivers was NOT capable of playing at a hall of fame level nor was his team very good, so get a grip on reality. - Yet he came to the Colts the following year and led them to the playoffs under the guy Shane is now replacing. Thanks for helping prove my points big fella. Now go throw some bbz somewhere else.
  6. Lol, I never said it was. Might be beneficial to go back and read the conversation that was taking place & not just respond to one comment? I wasn’t trying to imply anything negative towards Shane. I simply stated that I’m not ready to claim Shane (as a first time HC who hasn’t even ran his 1st practice yet)could win with any QB in this years draft.
  7. https://pro-football-history.com/coach/2493/shane-steichen-bio He is 3-3 in the playoffs. With Rivers as QB, 1-1 in playoffs and 2 winning seasons. With Herbert at QB, no playoffs & no winning season. With Hurts, 2-2 in playoffs, 2 winning seasons. 2021 9-8 0-1 in playoffs & of course 2022 where they went 14-3 and made it to superbowl. So he’s had a HOF caliber QB in Rivers, a very good QB prospect in Herbert who was drafted top ten, and Hurts who played at a very high level. Again I’ll ask, what about this history makes you think he can win with any QB?
  8. Ok…not trying to be rude or mean, but what exactly was the point of your original response to me then? Just to let me know he has worked with QB’s in the past? Because it doesn’t seem you’re of the belief he could win with any QB, neither am I, but the poster I originally quoted is.
  9. So you’re good with trading the out of the first or taking a non-QB with #4? Just draft Bennet/Duggan later? I promise you that I don’t need a history lesson from you on who the QB’s he has worked are (as a QB coach and OC, not HC). But the poster I quoted said he could win with Duggan/Bennet. So again I’ll ask, what has Steichen done as a HC that makes you believe he is capable of winning with just any QB? I mean all the great HC’s in the NFL that struggle to win with average to below average QB play but the recently hired first time HC can. I understand having optimism, but good grief. I’d rather wait until we actually see how he performs as HC before proclaiming he can win with anyone.
  10. So a guy that has never been the head coach of a team…you’re already confident he can win with just any ol’ QB? Man I hope you’re right, but if I may, what exactly are you basing this on?
  11. So what you’re saying is, that since you’re biased to AR, his comments are ok. But since you don’t want Levis, he is cocky/arrogant. I mean it was essentially the same quote from 2 qbs with strong arms…yet you use it as a negative against one and not the other. Just another tally mark for the ‘comments from JC that make you go hmmm’ column. To each his own.
  12. Bet yet you like AR more and more, even with his comments about touch passes, his arm, and “I can’t catch the ball too”? What’s the difference?
  13. Man I regret that I said Stroud is off my list now, I was kidding and it was absolutely tongue in cheek. I hadn’t read through the rest of the thread to see the “discussion”regarding it.
  14. Or it was a concentrated effort to use those words for exactly this …easy dots to connect and conceal true intentions.
  15. Hold on a second, don’t move the goal post. This wasn’t a debate on draft value and gaining extra picks. You stated you would be ok drafting AR at 7, but to use pick 4 on him would be a disaster. I am not talking about the picks, I am talking about the player. And you know this how? IF Ballard moves down, it will because there are still at least 2 players he’s wants and he thinks he can pull it off and 1 still be there. If this draft goes like you think it will, by pick 4 AR will be the only QB left and if so, he should trade down a few spots and still take him? I don’t get that. I mean if somehow the QB’s go 1,2,3 (I don’t see it), then shouldn’t he be able to move back more than 3 picks and still get AR? I highly doubt that these 4 QB’s all go by pick 7, which is what you think will happen based on some mocks you’ve seen in January/February? 4 QB’s going top ten has happened once in 70+ years. 2018 draft with Mayfield, Donald, Allen, Rosen. I’m not rooting for or against AR you just can’t honestly claim to know if he is worth pick 7 but not pick 4 already. Heck, some reports I’ve read aren’t sure if he is a 1st round QB or not, but you have it narrowed down! Edit, I read your post again, you did mention extra picks, my mistake there. I still think the general point of my comment stands.
  16. Then why y’all want to trade him for anything then? Why is he even mentioned as a trade candidate? I don’t hear trade rumors for Herbert or Allen or Lawerence. Am I forgetting all the great QB’s you’ve had over there in Chicagoland? Hold on, gotta find my calculator because something isn’t adding up.
  17. If they take him at 4 and he busts or 7 and he busts, you think it’ll matter? If they take him at 4 or 7 and he turns out to be a franchise qb, you think it’ll matter? If you don’t think he will be a franchise at 4, what does moving down 3 picks change?
  18. They won with Stafford, which was the point I believe.
  19. Yea I just edited. Realized it after I submitted the post.
  20. I’m not disagreeing with you. Are they given up on too quickly though? I 100% agree with not developing, or hampering development by forcing them to play before they are ready. But given up on? Even the high picks that get traded or cut, don’t they usually get 2nd & 3rd chances with other teams to earn a spot? Edit - never mind. You were talking about teams giving up on QB’s.
