So you rather us just lose and not make the Playoffs? How pathetic. What good does that do? No true Colts fan wants that. Chuck isn't going to get fired even if we go 5-11 if that is yours and anyone's motive rooting against us and picking 8th, 9th, or 10th compared to 21st isn't a big deal. I am so sick of talking about this crap. To the people that want the Colts to lose, start your own hate/fire/cut Thread that is my take. If a team makes the Playoffs it's a Good season period. Some in here think winning the SB is easy I guess?? SMH.

    Amen, brother!

  2. In a 3 way 8-8 with Colts, Titans and Texans, Colts win if 2 of Texans losses are to Colts and Titans. That gives Colts 3-1, Texans 2-2, Titans 1-3 in games vs each other.

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

    Two Clubs

    1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).

  3. He may have drafted RGIII

McKenzie: “You’ve got to evaluate. That doesn’t mean you change your philosophy and you’re going to go strictly with an option running-type quarterback. It’s always nice to have options. If you can get a guy that can throw it, which all quarterbacks are going to have to be able to throw the football, then on top of that he can run it, that’s the old adage of being a dual threat.

If you’ve got a guy that you have to watch out, creating a lot of plays when things break down, making something out of nothing, that’s hard to defend.”

The Packers are hinting at firing the head coach. Maybe the selection of candidates will influence Irsay.

That's always a key factor. Who else is out there?

Do you hire a mediocre retread?

Do you hire an unproven college guy or coordinator?

Now if Harbaugh called Irsay and said "if the Colts job opens up, I'm interested," I think Pagano would be gone. But how many unemployed coaches are out there who want to coach again, want to coach the Colts, and are a clear upgrade.

And a late TD to Hilton won us the Chargers game. Two sides to a coin. Man what's with our from office people making ridiculous statements all of a sudden? First Grigson with "It's going to take some time to build the D because of Luck's contract" and now this. Next week it'll be Pagano saying we're the best team in the AFC.

Pagano said last week we have a good defense. I think that qualifies under the "ridiculous statement" section.

  6. JMO, but as a fan I don't understand how someone can watch their team and hope they lose. Losing now does not guaranty success later.

Been a diehard fan for 45 years. Sunday's game ripped my heart out, but I'll still be cheering them on vs Titans. Just enjoy each game on its own.

Let Irsay and Colts management worry about the long term goals of the team.

I think most of us agree that 2 pt conversion earlier in the game can be questioned.  The timing in this game makes it not matter which possession you go for two as there are only two possession left in the game.

Cleveland was down by 15 with 6:43 or so on the clock with the ball and scored the first TD around 2:05 on the clock, got a onside kick and scored their second TD with 0;27 on the clock, was not able to get another onside kick and Tenn took a knee to end the game.

So yes i agree with you that sometimes there are other options when there are a handful of possessions either side remaining, but here all we had was two possessions by Cleveland and the game was over.  There was no time for Tenn to have the ball and have a safety or a pick 6, fumble, etc.

Fair point. In general, going for 2 should be done last, but agree that the lack of time left in this specific game made the order pretty much irrelevant. Could also be Browns figured the D was reeling and going for 2 right away was their best option.

  8. Thing is, if you're down by 15 and get a touchdown, you should go for 1 first and not the 2 until you need it. You never know what may happen to a take away the need to go for 2 on your next touchdown.

    Down 15

    Touchdown!

Go for 1 and you're down by 8. Suppose you get a safety. Then you're down by 6. Touchdown, kick the extra point and you're up by 1 and never have to go for 2.

    Down 15

    Touchdown!

Go for 2 and don't convert, down by 9. Safety, down by 7. Touchdown and kick, you're tied. Going for 2 first costs you the lead.

Not a very common scenario, but it's certainly possible.

  9. I was screaming at the tv "don't call timeout, you are going to leave them time to score!"  Then they kick through the end zone giving the lions the ball at the 25 yard line with no time off the clock! Are you kidding me?

Pagamo needs to learn to play chess or some other game where you have to think several moves ahead. To think "let's just worry about scoring first and then we'll worry about stopping them is flat out wrong. The only way the colts were going to stop the lions was to have the ball or leave them with no time, no timeouts, or both. If Pagano didn't know that then I'm not sure what game he was watching.

Put the game in the hands of your strength, not your weakness.

  10. For the first time in 5 years under Pagano/Grigson, it would be nice to see the team prepared to start the season. 2-6 the first two weeks with squeaked out home wins over Oakland and Minnesota. History says this game will at best be a nail biting win.

Lot's of new coaches though, so maybe things will be different this season and the Colts start the season fast.

Have you ever been to a game?  When you go to the bathroom or concession stand you are gone for 30-45 minutes.   The extra point or kickoff isn't going to effect that

I go to 4 games a season. I miss 2 plays for a bathroom trip and the concession trip is before the game starts for a pretzel and water. Best time to go is on 4th down when Colts are punting. You get the punt, the TV timeout, and maybe 1 offensive snap for the other team.

  12. You are all missing the main reason for the rule change. It was necessitated by the extra point rule change.

Since the extra point is no longer a "gimme" fans need to stay and watch to see if it's made or not. That takes away the time when everyone used to go to the concessions and use the bathroom.

Now we can go during the kickoff! It's genius!

The end zone does belong to the team defending it. You lose a ball in their property so to say, they own it. It's their property, they don't have to possess it. The end zone is not out of bounds. I understand you have a problem with losing the possession of the ball but once it enters the property of the opposing team unless you possess it, it's theirs. The same goes for your end zone. If you fumble the ball into the other teams end zone and it goes out of bounds you lose possession. If your team kept the ball would it be fair to spot the ball on the 6 inch line or where ever you lost the ball? Your team is the one who fumbled onto the property of the defenders before it went out of bounds.

Yes, I can certainly see the logic with that line of thinking. Bottom line, hold onto the dang football and the rule will not come into play.
