Hate to say it but would be more beneficial if we lost the next two. We’d be picking in the top 10. Would be nice to get a top 10 talent. But who knows Ballard might just trade down.

Jacksonville is a toss-up, still winnable. I know Carolina is starting a rookie qb next week, but historically that doesn't bode well for this team.

After tonight Colts will be at 14, but there's a logjam of teams at 5 wins. Being in that 6-10 range is still possible

If he's looked at as a future franchise QB, he'll go top 10 before draft day finishes.  Josh Allen was raw, probably was a bit more physical, but small school QBs are drafted high too.

Love is probably more accurate than Allen.

Teams will know that we are interested.  Ballard is going to probably have to trade up a few spots no matter where our slot is because he has to figure another team will want to trade up ahead of us, so we can't just stand pat.

If there is a plus side to this season, it's that we're not that far out from top 10 status now. Obviously a lot to be decided in these last 3 games, but as it stands now(looking at how much Buffalo gave up to make that move) Colts would probably have to give their 1st, a 3rd, and their second 2nd round pick. Atlanta, NYJ, and Arizona all seem like teams to make the move with.

  3. Having a resurgent year with the Rams, 9 sacks as of now. Will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020, and only 25 years old right now. He hasn't had a breakthrough season, especially considering his overall draft status originally(#3 overall), but he may be peaking at the right time. Any thoughts on Fowler as a possible free agency acquisition?

I'm not the person to ask regarding the 2017 draft.  I wanted to draft:

1 - Reuben Foster LB Alabama

    2 - Dan Feeney G Indiana

3 - Cordrea Tankersley CB Clemson

The Colts would look like the Dolphins right now if I had been in command.

Feeney started 37 games, I'm sure Brissett wouldve appreciated an offensive lineman drafted(who made the team) that year

If you think he's that good, I'd take him in round 4.

I consider a kicker to be a starter.  It would be difficult to get much more impact from any other position with round 4 talent.

I think there has been a tendency, really since the franchise coming to Indy, to take the kicking position for granted. From Dean Biasucci up to this season, kickers on this team have had above average efficiency numbers. Granted they have had a built in advantage of playing indoors, but this may be the first season in Indy history where we've dealt with these types of kicking woes. And because of that I hope your point really gets hammered home with the front office.

I think Andrew Luck retiring and injuries have hurt the passing game.

Another important player to the receivers, 2rd round pick Paris Campbell, has missed almost half the season.

The #1 receiver, TY Hilton, has missed 4 games.

Also, we shouldn't forget about Jacoby's injury and the brace he is playing with. Most of us would hate walking around the block with the brace he played with on Thursday let alone play a football game.

Every team in the league is going to have a rough time with their passing game if the above happened to them.

I certainly concur, the Luck retirement and injuries have definitely had an impact, but even coming into this season I believed we were in trouble at receiver.  Funchess, Rogers, Doyle, and Ebron are all unrestricted free agents, and imo there needs to be another target to truly take the pressure off of TY. And there may not be another time when a 3 time pro bowl receiver who will only be 26 next year becomes available.

Don’t know who pending FA are but maybe Ballard does a little more next year. Adding a couple more pieces could really put us over the top.

This is an extremely useful site:

2020 NFL Free Agents Tracker | Spotrac
    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents

I know it's going to trigger the "you don't know Chris Ballard" responses, but Amari Cooper is still on track to be a free agent, and Dallas still hasn't completed a deal for Dak. Yes he's gonna cost at least $22m a year, but going for bargains at receiver has hurt the passing game.

Lol, wow. Talk to me when Carlos Rogers, Marcus Johnson, Pascal, etc get 10 million a years. Those 3 together would be lucky to get half of that. There's a reason for that.

Yeah money well spent for the Colts! 3.3mil a catch!

Right, our receiving corps is poor. And, whether you like Funchess or not, no WR on this team (save for TY, duh) is even close to Funchess level, currently.

But, by all means, leave Funchess on IR, just because. Makes perfect sense.

His level? Oh that's rich. Are you a close family member?

Thankfully you're not calling the shots. We have about the worst WRs in the league right now and you don't want to bring back the clear #2.

Ah yes how could I have missed how dominant he was in his one game with the Colts...3 catches for 32 yards!!! And he was such a hot commodity coming in to the team!

We do agree on one thing, our receiving corps is poor, but it was coming into this season. Devin Funchess has shown in his professional and college career to have the look of a guy who should dominate, but doesn't.

  11. I honestly dont think there's anything to be gained by adding him. He hasnt practiced with the team, he has no reps in the offense, this was his first year with the Colts so there's nothing for him to pick back up. I think we saw all we were going to see in game 1.

First off..... IT aint going to happen

But .....  Imagine this defense with a terror off the edge.......

Chase Young plays both pass and run better than any defensive end I have ever seen out of college

I have been wrong before (and I WILL be again... Im sure)

We have a lot of draft picks and fewer "holes" to fill

But again.....  I highly doubt that a trigger would be pulled like this

I can see CB trading out again, and picking up earlier, later picks

You don't have to sell me on him, I'm a buyer. I'd even do the deal.

I would sell the farm for.......  CHASE YOUNG

He is better than either Bosa

Just what the dr ordered :)

JB is a good ENUFF QB......

    Chase Young is elite

But.... I FULLY expect to have CB stay where he is and or trade back to get more picks

That would meaning moving up to 2....that would definitely be giving up the farm. This year's 1, both 2's...maybe a 1 next year(assuming Cincy picks a qb of course)

  14. Like any successful approach, there is no one path that leads to success. It is a combination, and I'm sure when Ballard feels there is a time to make a move via trade he will. It can be argued that it should have already happened(I've argued it myself last season) but neither point can address our current problem: We don't have a franchise quarterback right now. And despite what some people have decided to believe, you don't win in the modern NFL without one. We're not currently in a "win now" mode because of that, so there really is no pressure to make a trade for an established player.

Right now reserving all draft capital in the case that the Colts decide that Jacoby is not the long term answer and need to move up in the draft is more important. Going by value chart alone, the Colts have enough value to move up to #5, where either a Justin Fields or Justin Herbert may be targeted.
