  1. If you could get a physical that confirms no issues, do it. But he's missed 17 games over the last 2 years, at that salary number you have to be absolutely right. 4x pro bowler could really really be great for the team!
  2. Kiper still adamantly claims that he was right, as Trent Dilfer was a super bowl winning qb...with his 2nd team..and we all know that it was his 12-25 153 yards that put the Ravens over the top in that SB that Baltimore won 34-7! No one can argue that Alberts didn't end up a bust(and was a complete jerk) but any hindsight of that draft says the Colts mistake was not taking Bryant Young, Aaron Glenn, or Sam Adams in that 4 slot. Bill Tobin brought an immediate turnaround for this franchise. His biggest mistake wasn't passing on Dilfer, but firing Ted Marchibroda.
  3. The good news is that even if the team has a Wally, they can still produce the Gruntmaster 6000
  4. I'll have what you're having
  5. Well...this all just became much more problematic!
  6. Depends also if all of this JJ McCarthy talk is real or a draft smokescreen. If McCarthy is on the board and someone wants to go up to 9, Chicago is going to ask for more than just a 3rd rounder.
  7. I give no slack for Ballard but in this case I dont think going heavy in this free agency market would have been right. For one, with the cap spike, teams had a lot of money to throw around and, for example purposes only, getting into a bidding war for someone like Curtis Samuel was not the right move.
  8. In general I agree. Fans tend to associate the merits of an analyst(regardless of whether they work for a large media outlet or run their own site) by how their team is rated. But I would disagree with one point of YardBarker's assessment. He's determined that being idle is equal to signing your own players and that's not correct at all. Idle would be if the Colts had signed no one, not even their own players. And if he is determining that being idle is not adding new players, it would mean that he ignores the benefits of continuity. None of us disagree that the team needs to improve in lots of areas, but I think that what @smittywerb said fits Ballard's pattern: he is going to go after cheaper vets later, especially once all the mad money from the cap spike runs out.
  9. Agree. Know a lot of Bengals fans and they feel like, at the minimum, he'll be there for the tag. Cincy's offense is based on their 3 receiver attack and to drop Higgins and bring in an unknown seems unlikely.
  10. No, not while he's still on his rookie contract(1 year left, just around $1M).
  11. Im hoping! Having pick 15 gets the same caliber player as pick 25
  12. I think if I felt the Colts were missing 1 piece(a great rush defensive end) from getting to the super bowl, I would do it. But we're not there yet. And as Zoltan pointed out, that amount of games missed with his salary makes it impossible to say yes.
  13. Bowers if there. I am not convinced he would be(or even past 10). Agreeing with KB's point, getting a possible elite TE for a developing QB would be a huge win.
  14. Unless it also nets picks next year, and someone would have to be hot for who falls to 15(JJ McCarthy?).
  15. A friend showed me those results the other day and I told him "no way." If anything the people I've sat with could use more drinks!
  16. It is really difficult for corners to get in. I think there are only 19 corners in the HoF (out of 36 total DB's) and out of that 19, 11 started their career prior to 1980. Eugene and Ray both have some pretty good interception numbers, but not HoF level.
  17. Amazing that his name would be put out there, isn't it! Just under 28K yards in 12 seasons, he would have needed another 10k yards to be in real consideration and he was a pariah everywhere he went.
  18. Wow that would be tough. As a rule I'm not ever in favor of giving up a future 1st. It is so incredibly valuable and we've seen so many times where that has severely blown up in a team's face(Houston for example has been on the giving and receiving end of that in recent history). You would need absolute faith in Richardson as well. Not only that he would be healthy for the overwhelming majority of games next year but also that he would be a top 10 qb. I think if Ballard actually did trade 2 1sts to move up for a receiver I would probably die of a heart attack!
  19. You should add Chris Hinton to your list
  20. Spotrac has you almost right on the money here: 4 yrs, $90,867,748
  21. I think with each draft you have definitive talent groups in each round. Again we are really early in this process but I would say right now after pick 10 your next talent group is 11-25(all depending on how the picks go). To back your point there are several players to be happy with either staying at 15 or dropping down even to 25.
  22. I think its a perception issue, as time passes what is happening now seems more relevant than what occurred in the past. Dolphins fans used to HATE anyone mentioning that Manning was on pace to break Marino's passing records. On long gone message boards it was all "He will never be mentioned in the same breath as Marino!"
