  1. It's pretty easy. Just type in Jim Caldwell on the internet.

I've already referenced his numbers and you keep ignoring them. 2010 was Peyton's worst season since his rocky youth and arguably the beginning of his postprime. 2011 was...2-14. Peyton Manning needs a quarterback coach like he needs a forearm to the neck. The only other quarterbacking stats on Caldwell are the Tampa season and the Penn St years where they ran a ball control offense.

  2. You think anyone could have talked Polian out of anything? It seems you have a small amount of knowledge when it comes to Polian.

It's not about Polian, it's about Caldwell. The GM's job is to play it safe. They all do it, and all coaches clash with them over it. That's part of their job. It's how the game is played.

  3. Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

What other decent numbers would he have? Brad Johnson's numbers the 1 year he QB coached in Tampa? His head coaching record? Also if you're going to credit the QB coach for stats keep in mind he wasn't hired off the street as the Ravens OC. He was their QB coach that season.

  4. Painter was Polians guy and when he was taken out the Colts won games. If you think that Caldwell is so bad I suggest looking up his NFL numbers yourself. If you don't care to that's fine but if you do you will see he is not as bad as you think.

What numbers? Peyton Manning's numbers? By that logic I guess Charlie Weis is responsible for Brady's numbers and Brett Favre's quarterback coach who was like 15 years younger than him that 1 season is responsible for his.

  5. I can't believe people think any quarterback coach is responsible for any of Peyton Manning's success. Peyton Manning had his own office for heck's sake. He ran the chalkboard at half time. Peyton Manning ran that offense, period.

Flacco wasn't good in the playoffs because of Jim Caldwell. He was good because he flung that DL to the ground, stepped up and launched it. Caldwell was probably screaming throw it away.

  6. And if Caldwell wasn't lame he would have atleast talked Polian out of it, if not told him "hell no."

Manning was statistically mediocre in 2010 by the game's standards today and his own standards, and you're a stat guy. That's not me blaming him - that's me blaming the coaching and management of that team. They would have been 2-14 without Peyton that year, as we found out the next year.

  7. I just saw the video on the world news. I'm a bouncer...I've had to handle drunk women in ways that would look violent, when taken in a snippet like that video. And if you think working as a bouncer in 2014 liberal America is like Road House then you are several years behind lol!

  8. You may call Caldwell lame but there a lot of NFL people who don't think that way. Look at what he did with Manning, Flacco and now he has Stafford. Stafford has put up big numbers with worse coaches than Caldwell. Using one game to judge Caldwell is being too narrow minded. Stats may seem worthless to you but to be successful in the NFL you have to have good stats. Without decent stats means you played very poorly. I would think you would know that?

What? What the heck did he do with Flacco? I think it is you who are using 1 game to judge Caldwell since that's barely less than the number of games in which he called plays. I saw what he did with Manning...he sabatoged his perfect season then drug him down to mediocrity in 2010. How about what he did without Manning? 2-14. You don't have to have stats to be success. You have to have to be a success to have stats, and there are even exceptions to that.

  9. From what I'm reading him knocking her out was a rumor.

And who started the violence is to me very critical. I'm sorry I don't buy into this idea that a real man should stand there and take it just cause it's a woman. She's an adult too, decisions have consequences including decisions to become violent with another person.

A grown up consequence of becoming violent with someone bigger and stronger then you is that you may get hit back and hurt in the process.

Mature adults female or male don't start violence. But I don't buy into the idea that either one should have to stand there and take it, even if the person starting the violence is smaller then them.

I agree...and nobody will admit it but violence with a member of the opposite sex atleast once in life is unavoidable.

And re: everybody else...why do people compare everything to marijuana?

  10. I was referring to the 2002 Vick and the Falcons playoff upset of Favre and the Packers.

Vick never beat them in 2010. Favre's good year was 2009 and he wasn't a Packer. How many have you had lol!

A funny story though...when Vick came out of nowhere to lead that 20 point comeback (they did tie it before losing at the end), I got lost in the madness and forgot I hated him for killing animals.

  11. NFL record for most self diagnosises...I'll never forget that infamous shot of him, Berrian and Harvin on the sidelines in 2010 dancing and jiving while Favre (who he supposedly carried...I think this can finally be shot down) was out there trying to win that Bears game in the rain.

  12. No one is making him out to be a saint. Just people sending their thoughts to family members who have gone through this. The even sadder part is you and your attitude. I really cant type what I would like to say to you as I would get banned for sure. There are no words to discribe you that wouldn't include profanity that I can think of. I do know one thing, I will never read another post by you. Ignore is what I will put you on and I hope everyone in these forumes does the same.

And the main reason he will be treated well is because he faced his illness, swallowed his pride (alot of folks know they're sick and destroy their lives and the lives of others before admitting it) and stepped down. I won't explain, but I know all about that.

  13. Invented? I guess you never seen Tarkington play when Bud Grant was his coach.

I guess you didn't either, because running around and chucking it deep on busted plays isn't reasing a blitz, standing in the pocket and throwing the ball deep on a fly route to whoever was in single coverage by design.

Nothing against Fran...he was good at what he did but what he did didn't involve many Xs and Os.

  14. Peyton, who I respect, is past his prime. That doesn't mean he's garbage. It just means he's past his greatest point. Every postprime quarterback who was ever any good managed to chug along in their postprime (which Peyton has done admirably)...then blow 1 huge game every year. This year it was the SB. Last year it was a big game on MNF against Atlanta. Next year it will be some other game. It happened to Favre, Marino, and literally every quarterback not named John Elway who hung around. I don't get to bent out of shape about it. Peyton is a Hofer if he retires now, just the same as if he would have retired in 2010 just like Favre is going to be whether he quit in 2010 or 2003 (or 1999?).

  15. Give me Vince Lombardi as a coach.

Then since everything is on the line all I need is Joe Montana because he always won the big game unlike some of the other chumps. Throw in Jim Kelly for sentimental reasons... and since it is for my own life once we are up by 28+ points I'll put myself in so I can take all the credit in the end.

I respect Joe but he blew some games, just like other Hof quarterbacks (Vikings upset, Giants blowout and sophomore slump season yes even Joe Cool had 1). Speaking of Hofers, Joe had like 65 of them on his team along with second tier guys who made the Pro Bowl almost every year.
  16. OC is the easiest job in football in many cases. Wasn't it Todd Haley who didn't even play or coach football? And was friends with Ken Wisenhunt who was like "yeah Kurt will call the plays if you get mixed up. Just call running plays until they quit working then call passing plays" when he was tired of calling plays. And he got started alongside Charlie Weis who didn't play football either, yet is somehow famous like Tom Brady had nothing to do with those SB rings.

Then Jim Caldwell...Peyton's qUaRtErBaCk CoAcH lol!

  17. I've been mentioning Lombardi as pioneer of the modern passing game lately. He was also the coach of the first openly gay football player who he told ONCE was safe from any prejudice on his team. That's my favorite part - he said it once and it was over, and not ran into the ground by the PC police and shameful sympathizers. On top of that, he coached Jerry White who hid his lifestyle about as well as Rob Halford. There have also been several lesser know gay college footba players who didn't go i to tbe draft. Michael Sam is small potatoes, no matter how much people don't like it.

That all happened with the Redskins btw, who are now being hounded for prejudice and bigotry of another type. If the PC police knew any of this crap...ugh.

  18. Lombardi would not have tolerated Favre's gunslinging ways for a second much less the whole game.

There is a misconception about Lombardi's Packers. They weren't all smashmouth. Lombardi basically invented the playaction philosophy that is used today (meaning not just playaction that has been setup by previous runs, but playaction and a deep pass on 4th and inches).

That offense also included WR Don Hutson who led the league in receiving for 8 of his 11 years, and held a ton of career records for a long time as what many consider to be the world's first modern WR.

Favre would have balled. Even if he wouldn't have, Lombardi would have put up with it. He put up with his own Packers who stunk until he got them in gear.
