I think it says there are certain things out of Chuck's control...
That the Colts could go 10-6, and improvement, but if the Texans go 11-5, and win the South, it's not Pagano's fault, and wouldn't necessarily mean Chuck would be fired.
And I think it means that Irsay is publicly acknowledging that the roster is not very good and that's not Pagano's fault, so expecting to chicken salad into filet mignon is not fair to Pagano and he'll be judged on a different sent of criteria than he has been in the past....
And that would be.... Is the team well coached? Are the Colts getting the most out of their roster? That's it's not just a simple matter of wins and loses.... That the whole franchise is still dealing with the problems that Grigson left them.....
That's my view of Irsay's comment.
To be fair, we had the roster to make the playoffs. Lions, both Texans (especially the first), and Jags in London are all winnable games.

Lots of encouraging stuff. As someone said, it is owner speak, so we have to take it with a grain of salt. But I do like how they are at least considering trading down to acquire more picks.
Reminds me of this article on Belichek.

I highly doubt he'll go RB round 1 or 2. Probably 3 or 4 is my guess.
I foresee Mixon/McCaffrey over Fournette/Cook.

7 hour drive? Just get plane tickets well in advance. Flying to Vegas is stupid cheap
what is stupid cheap? To me $200 round trip from NY to indy or NY to Orlando is cheap to me

I'm sure he will stop by camp and the games every now and then but he has a full time job and a top podcast for one of the fastest growing media companies in the country so I'd imagine he wouldn't return as a coach.

LMAO...oops.

I think the Raiders are taking a Big Gamble moving to Vegas.
Nah, staying in Oakland would be dumb. No more absurd California taxes either. They will be mostly away fans going to the game though early on. I went to Denver @ New Orleans this year and it was like 50% Broncos fans because it's a party city so I assume similar for a new team in Vegas. They just got an NHL team as well that will probably be competitive early on after the expansion draft and with the Raiders on the rise it's possible they can convert some folks into fans and do very well.
I'm looking very forward to going to Vegas for the first time to see the Rangers play the Golden Knights but now the Colts will eventually play the Raiders there as well.

Sheard I think is the key to this FA class. Did you read the piece in Stampede Blue ? If true , he played lights out in 2015 but not so great in 2016. Hopefully last year was just "messed" up ? But if we get the Sheard that's not so good , we just say adios ?
I think John Simon is going to be the biggest FA in this class but both together I'm pretty happy about.

I don't disagree with your statement, but if that's the reason then why wait until now?
Honestly no idea, going to have to wait a little bit to see what the long game is on this.

I would bet PEDs were taken because of the injuries so in theory no injuries no PEDs.
That's nice to think, but he still took PEDs and got suspended for it.

Only in the scenario where you have zero cap $ do you have to cut before signing. This was probably more of a we can't negotiate on reasonable restructure so see ya later. He could have easily been cut after a deal was signed. Now perhaps a deal or trade is complete just not announced yet.
Respectfully disagree. You don't keep someone that doesn't deserve it, especially if they don't fit with the culture.

Too bad it didn't work out. This one I'm willing to chalk up to injuries. It's a bit harsh to count it as a Grigson mistake when Jones never really had the chance to justify his contract.
He got suspended for PEDs too, don't think you can't not call it a mistake. He had plenty of chance if he stayed healthy and clean. Not Grigson's worst move but it's still pretty bad.

Fortunato is a very weird signing.
Art Jones has been released. 5.15 mil Cap savings per Mike Chappell.

At the time Jon Jones was the ufc champion lol and chandler was starting for the pats.. we were optimistic. That was a mistake
All 3 of them made stupid mistakes too. Shame really.

Surely Woods isn't Ballard's solution for NT. Kind of goes against the whole "competition at every position" philosophy since it would be between him and David Parry.
If we wanted Hankins we'd have to give a pretty strong offer. NYG have the highest offer out to him as of earlier this week and he wants more.

Very happy about this.

Same name as a NY Rangers blogger, got confused.

Rangers, the kings of closing out games when leading after 2, now dropped a 7th straight home game last night after blowing a one goal lead to the Islanders. 2 PPGs given up, including one late. The backup goalie has been reassigned to Hartford so Henrik will be back on the California road trip this weekend and the lead's best road team will have a chance to increase it as they try to clinch the 1st wildcard spot.
Meanwhile, Boston is giving away their playoff spot to Toronto. Would be hilarious if they got eliminated on the last game of the season. I was in Boston that day two years ago and loved every second of that.

I've never gotten into hockey. Just never could. But........ I love the fights. LOVE EM. There's some historic hockey fights, so I do like seeing the fight highlights. But yeah I'm a football, basketball, and baseball dude. And UFC if you're counting that. WWE used to be awesome back in the day. Before it went all sissified. This new PG era or what ever they call it ruined it...
Not as many fights anymore, you need one every now and then for a spark but the stats are against enforcers. The Rangers for example throw out a fourth line of speed which has led to increased scoring since speed beats heavy hitting. I didn't get into hockey until like 5 years ago but now I can't get enough. It's truly a special sport. WWE is still athletic but it's definitely not as good. Vince just totaled his Bentley two days ago like quarter mile from my office lol

Just like the MLB they will never expand here because of competition being to close and it hurts other markets. Chicago, Columbus, St. Louis, and even Nashville all have teams that draw from Indiana. MLB said the same as it hurts close by markets. I wish we could have a team in all 5 big leagues. MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLS.
True. I don't think of it like that. Here in the tristate area we have 2 teams for every sport (3 for hockey) and prices are crazy for most of them minus primetime Jet games later in the season and now that the Islanders moved to Brooklyn from Long Island it's cheap to go there too. We just got a second NY MLS team a couple years ago as well.

Anyone see Crosby's goal of the year candidate last night? split four defenders and scored one handed. Insane.

I wish indy could get an NHL team I went to my first fuel game Sunday and it was great but they aren't near as good as the NHL pros
Maybe Indy will be the next expansion after Vegas.

Edmonton's magic number for the playoffs is 5 through any combination of Edmonton wins + Los Angeles losses.
@NorthernBlue, Washington is 5-4-1 in their last 10 games and doesn't have anywhere near the hold on the President's Trophy that they used to. Shattenkirk hasn't had the impact they've wanted, it seems. I wonder if him being added to the team affected team chemistry or cohesion....
The Caps need to hold onto that #1 spot. If the playoffs started today, Pittsburgh and Columbus would play each other in the first round, Montreal gets the Rangers, and the Capitals would have the easiest matchup, facing the Leafs. Pens/Jackets would probably go 6 or 7 games whereas Caps/Leafs would probably be over in 4 or 5, giving the Caps more time to rest. Still 10 games left to go
It's not officially the Leafs for Washington but I don't see TB or NYI catching them. I would be very happy with the Rangers hanging onto the WC1 spot, and it's almost guaranteed at this point. We aren't catching WAS, CBJ, or PIT and TOR, TB, and NYI aren't catching us. We will be the 4th seed in the Atlantic bracket but currently have a better record than Montreal, Ottawa, and Boston. We won't have to worry about seeing a metro team until the ECF either. We also have the most road wins in the league and aren't as good at home so if Henrik comes back healthy, along with the depth of returning Girardi and Klein on D perhaps we can make a run.

Idk if you are agreeing with me or not.
I should have caught up to the thread before commenting, but I figured I'd throw in the additional stats that give him 16 yards per catch. You and NCF are top posters though so I agree w you both.

We went from winning an unsustainable amount of 1 score games to regressing to average/below average in one score games. Went from lowest penalized team to one of the highest penalized teams. Went from playing hard and coming out prepared most of the time to putting together a full game only a third of the time...
Edit: We went from shocking a few teams like Denver, Seattle, Niners (A SB champ, AFC champ, and NFC runner up) in the same month, to simply not competing with those types of teams anymore.
