I have listened to several interviews on Hughes over the last 6 months and most feel he was just not strong enough to play big minutes right away. Lets hope he hit the weights hard in the off season.
-
The only thing Rex Ryan gets is that every word he utters is on mic. He loves to hear himself yap more than any coach or player I have ever seen. 3 straight years now guaranteeing a SB victory.... :whiteflag:
His act is getting old.
-
I think this is much ado about little. He worked strength training, just didn't quite get things balanced out. He's bigger and stronger than last year by photos, a couple of weeks of TC and he'll be fine. I don't do fantasy, but I wouldn't trade him off for something like this.
out of shape is out of shape.... I think SD blew it with that pick.

CJ had a higher value of himself than the Colts did. Even if Manning took less to keep him around, his asking price still needed to be reasonable - in other words, on the Colts' terms. It clearly was not and he did well for himself in Minny. I say good for him.
I agree, I wish CJ would have stayed simply because of his versatility. But some are acting like we just lost Anthony Munoz? CJ did not dominate at any position, his value to the team was only in his versatility.
If Costanzo and BI live up to their promise CJ will be an afterthought by week 8.
I am thrilled the Colts shelled out money for DE/DT that can actually play. The O will be fine regardless of who is on the OL. The D is where the upgrades really need to happen. If the D is getting off the field Peyton's job becomes 100x easier.

I see Costanzo starting right away and the Colts running ALOT of 2 TE with Brody parked right beside Costanzao.
-
Nothing - CJ was an unrestricted free agent.
The Colts had him slotted for some number, that number is what Indy will save.
-
He's done... talent wise.
-
Kravitz just said CJ was asking for a "ton of money" ... guess we should have seen this coming when Diem was signed.
Oh well, things on the OL are going to get interesting.

cuss.....

Dakich just said it on 1070....
I hope not.
-
Well he has not been able to lift for some time now.
-
This issue is not exclusive to the Colts. Mort stated that every team who picked from 20 down does not want to give the 1st rounders a guaranteed fourth year.
It will get done.

At least me calling him average is better then what pro football focus thinks about him!!
They said he was the 8th worst tackle in the whole league.

He's not a true L tackle, he is a guard. His value to Indy is his versatility. He can play every position on the line in pinch. Indy needs to bring him back for at least this season.

The Eagles are far from perfect. Just wait till Vick takes off on a run, gets hammered, hurt, then in come the back up. The big baby himself.. Vince Young. Throws a fit, looses the game and tanks the rest of the season. No, far from perfect. They also are without Jackson due to contract issues.. I see him heading down the road.
hehe... Philly fans and VY... I hope he gets a lot of playing time.

Clint was a 4th round pick out of Pitt. So at least Indy should get some compensation.
I wish we still had him.
-
Everyone knows the great teams have a great linebacking core and we don't right now!!
If Garry, Angerer, and KC stay healthy Indy will be fine.... but history tells us that just won't happen.

First of all, we didn't trade Session. We don't need the guy to win, he's never gone to a Pro Bowl, and has really never stood out. He was a competent starter at best, he is not a difference maker when talking about winning the SB or not. He was signed for 5y / 30M which is hilarious b/c the Jags sort of got screwed over, because the guy is only worth 2M of the cap space. I really don't care that he left, and we CAN still win a SB without him.
You have not watched the Colts the last few years then. Clint IMO is not worth what Jax paid, but he IS a playmaker. And his injury last season really hurt Indy.
Jax overpaid, but it would have been wonderful to have been able to keep Clint. He was one of better OLBers Indy has seen.
-
Exactly. If he's talking about making enough room for Addai and CJ & others.....that sounds significant. I'm sure it's not a blank check but I'm curious to see where it settles.
Yes, he mentioned Joe and Charlie by name... they "should" demand at least 4-5 M per on the open market. We shall see.

Peyton Manning the T-shirt! Peyton Manning the lunch box!Peyton Manning the breakfast cereal! Peyton Manning the FLAMETHROWER!
Yep, and this is why I really can't understand why Manning wont just take the league average or a little more. He makes more from endorsements than 75% of the QB's in the NFL do from their base salary.
How much is enough? I can't wait to see what he finally signs for.
-
This just proves to me that Manning really IS the astute businessman that is so opposite of the bumbler he portrays himself to be. Once he signs a contract like this, taking LESS than his market value to help his team, his marketing value will skyrocket. If you thought sponsors wanted him in the past, they will be all over him now! And his sponsor $$ will SOAR. So while he will take and make less from the Colts on this contract, he will probably end up making more than he would have in the sponsorship area...and that is where the real dollars come into play! This could end up being a VERY shrewd and clever move for Peyton, and make it easier on the Colts.
Well played, Peyton, well played!
Let's just wait and see HOW much EASIER he makes it on Indy...

Looking at how most other franchises handle their business, I'm real happy Polian is on our side.
Right On... 15 NFL franchises have NEVER WON A SB! Indy has not missed the playoffs since .... I can't remember.
This team has had unprecedented success... (On par with Dallas, SF, NE, and Pitt) Historically the Colts are on a run that would probably rank about 5th all time. But it's "not good enough"... esp for Indianapolis. WOW.
Oh well...
-
I think if they dont get Peytoon signed soon it will reveal true failure , which polian is to blame i dont know
Peyton had an offer in front of him mid way through last season.....
-
Hmmm so Polian has failed the team in the last 5 years? 2 SB appearances, and 1 win even with all the injuries this team has suffered lately.
Seriously....

Warren Sapp on Fat Al and his 30 sacks in 10 years ... "a lot of bark and no bite"...

This is what I think we will see..
Anderson and one of Dwight or Rob M starting at DE on first and second down. And with Dwight and Robert both on the field every third down. Rotating in Hughes and Foster also.
Dwight and Mathis cannot keep playing all these downs. But hopefully the D will be so good this season that we will see plenty of 3n Outs....
That would make everything very simple.
