Absolutely not! If he can play in preseason, he needs to. As you mentioned the bursa sac issue and him sitting out the pre, it took him weeks to get up to speed. Manning operating under center is the only way that the O-line will gel.
Yes, and the OL will NOT gel until the Grand Master himself is back there calling the shots.
The sooner Manning is under center the faster this OL will gel.

good to hear tommie harris made an impression in his one day of practice
Yep, Harris is still relatively young and if he is healthy he is going to be playing for one last "big" contract. So hopefully Indy will get a HUGE year from this guy. If he comes back to near his old form Indy will have a dominant DL.

I am in a 12 team keeper league. I kept Peyton Manning, LeSean McCoy, and Calvin Johnson. I have the 8th pick and expect one of the following to be available:
- DeSean Jackson
- Miles Austin
- Knowshown Moreno
- Dez Bryant
- Ahmad Bradshaw
Who would you target?
If DeSean is there I think I will be all over him, but if not I am not sure who I will lean towards. If I could get DeSean at 8 and then try to grab someone like Blount in the next round I would be pretty happy.
If Jax or Bryant are there you will be very fortunate. I am in a 10 team, 3 man keeper money league also. Vick, AP, and Roddy are mine and I will be targeting WR's with my first 2 picks. And third... snag Mark Ingram!!!! He is going to be huge for NO.
- DeSean Jackson

Talk around the campfire is he will make an appearance in the 3rd pre season game.
-
He doesn't look too bad.. RB competition is going to be fierce on this team. I imagine that after Joe spots are wide open.
Brown (is probably safe?), James, Carter, Spann, Evans, Moore.. and is Dom Rhodes in camp? He is not listed on the roster but I thought I had read he was invited?
Pre season games will be fun watching how all these young backs battle it out for a roster spot.

I was there today and I DO NOT TRUST LACEY. Not saying he is horrible or anything guys, but I don't trust him to provide the defense we need to win a championship! (just saying).
Our DB's will only be as good as Indy's pass rush. Period. And I suspect it will be pretty dayum good.
-
I've seen 2 or 3 of these "so and so beats lacey in practice" threads. *sigh* this is not a good sign for our secondary. Especially when our backup QB is able to do all of this. C'mon Lacey we are going to need you man!
Lordy people... it is the first few days of pads and it is time to kick some to the curb.
What I found enjoyable out of the post was that GONZO is making plays... !!!!
This O is going to be nasty...

I honestly think the "old dome" was the best home field advantage in the NFL. That place was loud.... LOS, eeeeeeeee ... not so much.
JMO, they are/were both fantastic.
I just miss dome.

As a fellow stat junkie, there's so mystery to that at all. You'd have to appreciate what Joe did for the game of football. Stats aren't everything and Broadway Joe is prime example. If they voted again today, he would still be in 100%.
Are you kidding me? What?... pop off at the mouth and get lucky? Joe is the most "unworthy" member of the PF HOF EVER. The problem with the NFL HOF is that big "moments" or "big Winning" get you in. Joe was a losing QB but will be forever remembered for "trash talking"...
Ken Stabler, Ken Anderson, Lynn Dickey... and on and on...
Ridiculous.
Troy Aikman, another fraud....

los angeles colts
Yep... and to all the Bill Polian haters... Well?
-
Happens to most teams. Its the past, so it doesn't matter. Colts look strong on both sides of the ball
(-1 or 2 DBs for depth) Time to get excited about the present.
No... Indy has had horrible luck with injury. Indy's DBackfield was at one point getting ready to dominate for several years. BUT...
And you are right... The NOW is pretty dayum exciting...
-
What if just 4 players could have stayed healthy during the last 4 years...
Booger
Hayden
Jackson
and of course... Bob Sanders... WOW.. What if...
It is really kind of depressing... This team was on the brink of being the nastiest D in the league, but...
-
Kelvin is a very good CB, but he has missed a lot of games the last 3 years. I really liked KH but I am glad Indy is not going to continue to carry dead weight.
If Indy could somehow pull Kelvin back in at a "reasonable" price... this off season would start looking "coup" like.. heh.e.e..
-
He clearly doesn't have bricks for hands with some of the spectacular catches he pulls out sometimes.
Personally I think the problem might possibly be overthinking the easy catches rather than acting on instinct. When you're leaping to make a one-handed catch, you're not really thinking about your catching form, you're just trying to get the ball any way you can.
Or perhaps getting the rest of the "balls" he owes out to the loyal fans?
-
The bigger "conspiracy" is how did Broadway Joe get into the HOF... ????
Check his stats and you will doubt the whole NFL HOF process.
-
Honestly, the guy gets no credit around here. And his drop percentage wasn't THAT much higher than Wayne's last year (and Wayne dropped more balls).
Anyway, if Braylon Edwards got it together, so can Garcon.
No credit? Really? I guess if PG had not dropped the wide open middle of the field "sure score" in the first half of the SB against the Saints he may get a bit of a "pass".. :FBundecided:
-
I hope that his problem with drops is do to laziness. That can be fixed. Heck i still say the pick 6 in SB was Wayne's fault for lack of effort/route.
Garcon is not lazy at all.... His issue is concentration.
-
Moala is a three-tech like Nevis. He's not going to play nose tackle. The only one we have on the roster right now is AJ. I figure that when he's not on the field we're going to have to commit to the one-gap scheme and let our three-techs do what they do. Going to be susceptible to counters and bootlegs, but hopefully with gap integrity and some penetration, they can disrupt some plays. You can make plays with two three-techs on the field together, but you better be disciplined.
This has been Indy's Achilles Heel since Dwight and Rob have manned the outside. They really have never had any interest in containing their gap, or area. And it has cost Indy "DEARLY" in the past.
This is why I like the Idea of J Anderson starting at one of the 2 DE positions on running downs (1st down).
-
Garcon has "ALL PRO" talent, but his issue is mental mistakes and drops.
If he puts it together he is a top 10 receiver.... no question. BUT..... ???
-
somehow, this is going to run afoul
This team is "OVERDUE" for a "relatively injury free year".... :whiteflag:
-
No, no he doesn't. I don't want a 38 year old, situational DT just for his leadership. He likely wouldn't be that effective, and he definitely wouldn't be that good for 16 games + January.
So you would not take a 38 year old fat * to stop the run? I guess our smallish DT's getting blow off the ball the past few years has grown on you? heck all Pat Will would have to do is just hold his ground and he would be a huge help.
He would help any team for run stopping purposes only. But, he is 38 and I am sure he will want some cheez to play another year..... and not vet min. type cheddar.
But I think Indy's DL will be fine regardless.
-
DE D Free, J Anderson
DT Nevis, Harris
DT Moala, Johnson
DE Mathis, Hughes, Foster (?)
Looks lovely.... Esp, if DT could provide a push up the middle like the DL in the 06 SB run. If Indy gets play like that out of this team we are going back to the SB.
The depth so far by all reports also is going to be a huge improvement over the last few years.
I am getting geeked over this D....
-
watch the waist not he upper body.....
-
Anderson is very good against the run, I see him starting on first downs.
WOW we are actually talking about "depth on the DL for Indy"...
When will Manning play?

?? pre season does not count, if it did his streak would have ended long ago...
