I haven't heard anything regarding Shurmur either which is odd.

Perhaps it is because it seems that Shurmur and Keenum are a package deal. The Colts don't need a QB. As ColtsBlueFL noted above, it looks like Shurmur is the leading candidate for the Cardinals head coaching job.

Josh McDaniels or Pat Shurmur I hope.

Have the Colts even asked permission to interview Shurmur? I have not seen anything on the Vikings site about the Colts having interest in Shurmur, which is strange. I think Shurmur would be great with Luck.

I think the new Colts head coach will be McDaniels. It does not look like Wilks will fill any one of the 4 remaining coaching vacancies. I think he would be great with the Giants.

No way. He’s be a perfect fit for the Jets, but the Giants organization and their fan base here is pretty classy. They want discipline. Wilks would be perfect for them but I want him for the Colts.

My thoughts exactly. He looks like a Jets head coach. I will be surprised if the Giants hired Patricia, but stranger things have happened.

Same thing about McDaniels. He’s stood on the sideline by B.B. holding a clipboard and get credited as being the mastermind of part of New England’s greatness.

I am not a fan of either of them. I did not like Mangini when he came to the Jets. You live in this area. Does Matt Patricia seem like a Giants type coach? He is the coach that wore that t-shirt portraying Goodell as a clown. I can't see him pulling that with the Giants. I have a good friend whose family have been season ticket holders for over 50 years. I will ask him what he thinks. I like Shurmur or Wilks for the Giants and the Colts.

Between Friday and today, I've seen hoodie to NYG, Saban could potentially leave for NYG, & all signs are pointing to Matt Patricia getting the NYG HC job.

Yep, in NYC, reports today are that Matt Patricia is the front-runner. Over the weekend, it was Wilks. Before that, it was McDaniels. No one knows.

What is so good about Matt Patricia?

The secret interview could've also been a college coach, like David Shaw.  Logic for keeping it secret would be not to scare recruits in case the guy (in this case Shaw) didn't take the job.

Otherwise, I think the interview was "secret" because word just happened not to leak. Or Ballard put it together at the last minute or something.

I hope not. As a Stanford fan, I want Shaw there for 20+ more years.

I think the Colts will go with an offensive coach, if not Toub. But I don't get why they have not interviewed Shurmur. He would be great for Luck.

SO GLAD we are not on the coaching carousel this year.

You can't be sure about a coach just one year in, but I love Anthony Lynn.  He holds guys accountable, even publicly, but not in an abrasive manner.  He didn't panic or let his men panic at 0-4.  The men love him.  Can't wait for next year.

Good luck to those of you who have teams hunting for a good one!

I read that Seattle is looking to bring back Gus Bradley, the Chargers' D-Coor. That would be a huge loss for you guys. I hope you can retain him. I think you all have a good thing going there. You need continuity now.

Any idea why Bradley signed only a one-year contract when he followed Lynn to the Chargers?

I like the Vikings believe me but, the Saints hold a special place in my heart.   And yes, I agree about the Vikes D. (afterall they were my FF D most of this season.)

haha I forgot about your link to the Saints. That Saints-Colts Super Bowl must have been difficult for you. Or, perhaps it was a win-win? Did you ever become friendly with Bogie/Synthetic here on the forum?

It will be a very difficult game for the Vikes to win. But I am hopeful.

    Where's Blake Bortles...He's 1-0 in playoff games..

Someone said he is the only QB from the 2014 draft that has a playoff win. I replied that wins are a team stat. He did not win that game for his team. He is the QB of a team that won a playoff game.

I think Dak is legit as well.

I was just kidding about Case. I am worried about him in the playoffs. I like his competitiveness and "never say die" attitude but he throws many inaccurate passes. The receivers have bailed him out all year.

Dak is pretty good. I failed to mention him earlier.

With Peyton retired and Tommy aging, if Luck comes back healthy he could finally be the man in a couple of years. Benny and Brees will probably retire too within the next 2 years IMO. Rodgers still has plenty of time but Luck is much younger than he is. I do like Wentz as well, so we will see. I like QB's such as Wilson and Cam but I think Seattle is a mess right now. Their Defense is aging and since Lynch has left, they haven't found his replacement. Cam is solid but is an injury waiting to happen. He take risks that are scary. Matt Ryan I do like but man does he choke. He needs to get him a SB win ASAP.

Hey, no love for Case? He is the GOAT. :P

AV could play for another 10 years...kicking game is worse than I’ve ever seen it...the NFL is in trouble when he and Bryant retire...this next generation just isn’t on the same level lol. Sarcasm>

Lol. I figured that. You forgot Ronnie Gould. He could play 'til hes 50.

There are some very good ones out there.

I know what you mean but I just don’t see those next guys yet. Outside Aaron there is a list of guys that are up and down. Wilson is the closest for me. When we had Montana and Marino and Moon we saw that Aikman and Young and Favre were coming and then we saw Young Peyton and Tom and Drew coming on. Outside of Aaron I can’t identify those next guys...I think a lot will be flashes in the pan...the Dante Culpeepers or Donavon Mcnabbs or Carson Palmers...some great seasons but nothing transcending....hope I’m wrong though!

Luck will come back. I like Stafford and Wentz very much. Did you not like Watson and Jimmy G? They looked great. People doubted Ben, Eli and Rivers in their first few years. Look what they have become. It takes time to develop a good QB.

    Anyway, we disagree. It's ok.

Don't you know that Colts fans only care about mitigating circumstances when it comes to the bad play of our own QB?  lol   I love my fellow fans but we can be some of the biggest QB hypocrites out there sometimes.

Kaep could have played better than Bortles and Taylor. JMO. But it is the off the field stuff that keeps him from being signed.

  15. 8 minutes ago, dgambill said:

Very true...most brought on by great defense....how many wide open throws missed today....good defense but there were a ton of plays left on the field by these qbs. It wasn’t good. I am probably too negative about the state of qb play in the NFL but I’m not seeing the next Tom Brady or Drew Brees or Peyton Manning out there....thank goodness for Aaron Rodgers.

I am a lot more optimistic than you are about the future of quarterbacks in the NFL.
