  1. Give Goodell the test & let's see what the outcome is. It reminds when governors require high school students to pass a test about the history of their state prior to graduating. Could they pass it themselves? I always wonder about stuff like that. Stipulations other authority figures make citizens partake in that they may never get tested on themselves.

In fairness to Roger, maybe he took the Wonderlic when he was named NFL Commissioner. I have no idea.

That's interesting, it'd be a good qualification for him. However, I don't know if the real Wonderlic has to do with Football intelligence, regular intelligence, book smarts, street smarts, or something else. It would be fun to see the result.

  2. Ooh Math was never my strong suit & word association would get me into trouble with my sarcastic humor. Enjoy the draft Jared & kudos on your high score of 39. Well done!

Has anybody who got a low Wonderlic score ever made into into the NFL HOF? I have no idea when the test was 1st administered by the League.

Thank you very much on the props, I had to really focus to do that well. I'm curious on how some of the HOFers scores are as well. I believe Marino and Terry Bradshaw had low scores and they are HOFers. Not sure on anyone else. I think a lot of players get lower scores than we think.

  3. Color me impressed!

    Damn impressed!            :worthy:

Thank you! I got 5 of the first 10 wrong in the first 3 minutes, so I just took a deep breath, calmed down, and got 34 of the remaining 40 correct in 6 minutes. I wasn't mentally prepared when it started, so I had to put myself in a good spot, which is probably indicative of the real test.

  4. Yeah, I'm assuming it's a way to test your time management skills, your demeanor under high pressure situations, conflict resolution qualities, & never embarrass the owner who cuts your game checks.

Stuff like this: It's midnight & you have a game tomorrow against a heated division rival. What should you do? a. Drive to a gentlemen's club, b. Smoke an illegal narcotic, c. Flash money in the VIP section or d. Just get some sleep & rest comfortably at home?

That's probably somewhat close. I took a sample test and nothing like that was on there, it was mostly math and word association questions. However, I'm sure they wouldn't reveal what's on the real test. This could be something of a common sense question. In any case, I can't wait for the draft, 2 weeks away! Will be watching and recording it.

  5. La'el Collins and Eric Kendricks are the best fits for us, IMO. Collins is the perfect RT/RG that can make our O-Line very formidable and Eric Kendricks is an excellent run stopping ILB that is also good in coverage. Both fit what we need. If we were going with someone outside the first round, I'd say Donovan Smith the OT. He is the best Anchor in the draft and can more than hold his own. If we got Kendricks in the 1st and Donovan Smith in the 3rd as two of our picks, we'd be in great shape.

  6. If this aptitude test is similar to an SAT exam to get into college, I don't put much stock in it because I never take random tests well, but if I attend a class or seminar regularly or in person I do perfectly fine.

Congratulations to those NFL athletes who earned high marks on the Wonderlic like Luck, but bombing this test doesn't mean a player is destined for failure either.

Just another pheasant under glass, jump through hops test which proves nothing. Intelligence comes in many forms not just random evaluation

Absolutely. It can be as simple as "are you intelligent enough to stay out of trouble" to "can you learn an NFL Playbook." There are others like "how do you react to certain decisions on the field quickly" to "can you run a two minute drill." Every decision you make can affect your football career on and off the field and it's based on intelligence.

  7. I scored a 39 on my wonderlic test. That's what I got on the sample one on here. I'm not surprised either of these guys did well. It's not the brain of Winston that's the concern, it's the character issues. I have a feeling he's bipolar or something. Mariota seems like he understand things perfectly and is the squeaky clean boy scout (Peyton Manning), but has the playing playing style of RGIII. Honestly, the most important trait of a QB is intelligence, and I defy anyone to tell me otherwise. That's how you stay in the NFL for a long time. I think both of these guys have that covered. If Winston stays out of trouble, his football intelligence along with being a pocket passer should carry him a long way. With Mariota, if he can learn an NFL System besides the spread offense, he will get very far. They already have the intelligence, and that's half the battle.

  8. So he was being both consistent and using a mix?

As Colts fans, it's common knowledge that the Colts are very high on Randall. A mock draft is about trying to get picks right. He explained about Ray, he knows about the Colts and Randall, and he is using a very decent mock based on his ranks and where players could fit on teams. There are a couple surprises like Agholor, but there's nothing out of the ordinary. If you know a pick is most likely going to happen (randall) you put him there, whether he is supposed to go that high or not. Take away the ones you know and the guesswork for the remaining picks becomes that much easier.

  9.

I lied about being done, here's #5. (I don't have us taking a halfback early, I think we make a move for Ezekiel Elliot next year)

    Colts Mock

    R1P29
    Eddie Goldman DT Florida State
Powerful upper body, disruptive at the line, excellent run stopper, quick off the line, and a bull rusher.

    R2P61
    Stephone Anthony ILB Clemson
Good tackler, fast, able to cover big bodies, decent blitzer, and can play the pass.

    R3P70 (Trade with Jet, send 2015 4th, 2016 5th)
    Hroniss Grasu C Oregon
Plays low and locks his spot down, would fix our center problems

    R3P93
    Derron Smith S Fresno State
Very good coverage safety, needs to work on tackling, ball skills are decent. Could slide into our starting free safety. Isn't as tall as what I'd be happy with but Mathieu has done quite well with his size

    R5P165
    Austin Shepherd OT Alabama

    R6P204
    Josh Robinson RB Mississippi State
Should help in the run game with Boom, Ballard(if he makes it), and Gore.

    R6P206
    Sean Mannion QB Oregon State
Could be a great backup for when Hasselbeck is retired.

    R7P244
    Tevin McDonald S Eastern Washington

    R7P255
    Quinton Spain OG West Virginia

Pretty good Mock. The only changes I would make is to take an OT like Donovan Smith in the third instead of Grasu, then take Adrian Amos the FS in the 5th. I really don't think we need a C as I like how Holmes progressed at the end of the season. Nice job.

  10. To everyone that is commenting here, I can't speak for Dustin, but I believe he is mocking these players from a mix of his personal rankings (which some are bold like Ray and I like that he has the guts to do it), and some which he feels he knows where they are going (like randall which made me throw up in my mouth a little). He is being very consistent, you just have to look at the draft a bit and find the signs. Good job Dustin.

  11. I would consider trading up for Danny Shelton, but I would not include the 4th rounder. Regardless of the trade value chart, I would not give up an extra pick to move up for a DT.

Danny Shelton would be a NT for us, and he would be a Vince Wilfork guy that plugs up the middle. A 4th rounder isn't that much considering you get an elite player like Shelton. If you know you are getting him, you take the elite player and trade the mid round pick in a second, even if it is a 1st, 2nd and 4th. They are all low picks in those rounds, and Shelton is a top guy.

  12. It's not worth moving up for any of those guys (including Shelton).

Then who is it worth to move up for? What would you give up to move there?

The only two I could honestly see being there at 29 are Flowers, and Goldman. Maybe Gordon, but theres been lots of buzz around him lately.

Completely agree with reality MTC, what do you have to have, Leonard Williams and have him drop to 14? Personally I think Shelton is better than Leonard Williams and the second best player in this class behind Dante Fowler Jr. I'd trade up for him in an instant. Also La'el Collins is a top 5 talent that can play RT and RG and easily the best O-Lineman in the draft, I'd happily trade up for him. The rest aren't worth it. Malcom Brown I like, but I wouldn't trade up to get him. Collins the same, and Eric Kendricks may actually reach us at 29.

  13. Preston Smith out of Mississippi St.and Carl Davis out of Iowa are two names that stick out to me

Carl Davis, Grady Jarrett, Arik Armstead, Henry Anderson, Jordan Phillips, Malcolm Brown, Xaiver Cooper.

I was thinking Arik Armstead. I think he could be good for us but if Zack Kerr and Montori Hughes are playing end I don't think the FO would draft an end in the first.. maybe if they split nose and end.

Thanks to all 3 of you. Armstead was the only one I 100% knew. I will take a closer look at some of these guys to see who I think would make a great fit for us. Really appreciate the help!

  14. As the draft is getting closer, I'm having a hard time finding 3-4 DE's that the Colts could take. It seems every DE I want for us doesn't have the size and would end up transitioning to a 3-4 OLB. Does anyone have a list of maybe 5-10 names in the first 3-4 rounds that we could take that would actually be a 3-4 Defensive End on the Colts?

    I really appreciate this, thanks!

  15. yep they could but I would even get a bother D stud to go with Mack too since its a very deep WR draft

If I were Reggie McKenzie, I would take Dante Fowler Jr. in the 1st as I have him rated as the best player in the 2015 draft class. He has a chance to be close to Watt as a player IMO. Then in the 2nd round I take my top ranked receiver in the class in Phillip Dorsett. He is a special receiver IMO that will dominate in the NFL. So I pretty much agree with you here.

  16. I'm higher on Phillip Dorsett than anyone on this forum as I have him ranked as the best WR in this class. However, I know he isn't dropping to the 3rd round, and that's why I never mock him there on Fanspeak or First-Pick. I do think Coleman could fall to the end of the 3rd, even though the odds are are slim. There will be a top RB other than Gordon or Gurley that falls a bit in rounds 2 and 3, maybe Coleman is that guy. There are some guys I like on here that I hope we get. Maybe Peat will fall to us at 29, and we get someone like Stephone Anthony in the 2nd. These drafts would be great, but Fanspeak is way too unrealistic IMO.

  17. He could do pretty good with Carr. WR shouldn't fear the raiders much anymore they got a good QB. I really hope they can turn things around for Carr I'd hate to see his career be wasted.

Carr is the best qb they've had in a while. It's good they are getting weapons for him. Crabtree is probably their no1 receiver as of this moment for now. I will still predict, however, that the Raiders draft either Kevin White or Amari Cooper. Not sure which one, but that's the feeling I'm getting.

  18. I seen your post and went to First Pick site. I knew there were sites like that but never visited.

I liked it, it was cool. Much more challenging than just putting players you want in each round. Plus all the trade possibilities.

    Thanks, I enjoyed.

Your welcome LJ, it creates a new dynamic to the drafting process and puts a bit of pressure on you on who to take. I hope you enjoy the site. Draft how you want and get a feel for it. Also, a lot of the trades offered are a bit unrealistic, so you'll get great teams that are out of the ordinary a lot of the time. It's fun to trade and it's fun to keep your picks. Try each way and have fun!
