  1. That's all fine and good, and having these 2 on the field would be a nightmare to cover, but then this means that Moncrief won't be seeing the field. Do we really want that? I thought he was poised to have a monstrous 2nd year? You gotta believe Andre will be starting, and I havent seen the Colts use much 4 WR sets the past few years. And even if we do, then this means either Fleener, Allen, or both will be left out.

I think you are misunderstanding me a bit, I want Andre to be traded. My post a little higher and the post you commented on suggested we get something for Andre (a 4th or 5th and we pay his cap), and we have Hilton, Dorsett, Moncrief, and Carter to use at WR. We can then use the pick to trade up or get an rb. I think we should use Moncrief as our 3.

  2. Andre was a brilliant addition as a red zone threat.

Honestly I say we just trade TY.  What's the trade market on a proven NFL receiver with a year left on his cheap contract?

But I don't think we will do that.  I don't know what we are going to do other then let talented WR's rot on the bench for the next 2 years.

I want TY and Dorsett for the next 10 years. I had a dream 2 months ago about these two together on the field for the Colts when I saw Dorsett. Of course, Dorsett was a third rounder then and I thought we probably wouldn't get him. We need TY though, we got Andre for free, if we can get a return for him now that we don't need him with the addition of Dorsett, I think a 4th or 5th would be great. I bet a contender would bite.

  3. Off-topic, what does Dorsett do better than Lockett aside from run faster?

He has very good hands, can run routes well, can fight for the ball. He also can average 25 yards per catch and break tackles. He's an excellent receiver. My no1 receiver in the draft. He wasn't the right choice, but he won't be a bust either.

  4. After this pick, I'm convinced Luck will put up the best stats of any qb of all time. We just can't win a SB because we don't address our front 7 or defense. Dorsett is awesome, but how do you pass up malcom brown or Landon Collins. Not sure how Malcom Brown couldn't be your BPA or close to it at that time. Sometimes BPA can only go so far and you have to take a player you think is slightly worse in order to greatly improve the team.

  5. I agree with the poster that said we will have two 2nd round picks today. I think we trade our 3rd this year and next year to move up to the 2nd. Then we take 2 defensive players like jordan phillips and eric kendricks. Hopefully we get back on track day 2. As much as I like Dorsett (have him as the best WR in the draft), Brown or Collins should have been the pick.

  6. Randall is a physical kid who makes physical plays for his size. He has the top end speed which will help him in coverage, and he's decent in run support, not anything great but not a liability.

I just finished studying the tape, he is very physical and will break up plays. The problem is something Dustin mentioned, his terrible tackling and his technique in doing so. I cringed everytime I watched him make a tackle. He is a very solid cover safety though that is interchangeable and it shows, he can rush the qb a bit which is nice, and he is solid on special teams as well. What I like about him is that he seems to always be there and involved somehow in every play. In other words, he's a playmaker. I would like to see him force some fumbles or get some interceptions though. I feel better about him now, but I guess we'll see. He still doesn't seem like a 1st rounder.

  7. Np. Tbf to Randall, I wrote that before his USC tape went up, and that game was better than all of his others combined.

I see, your negatives have me worried, especially the tackling part. I hope the USC tape is impressive. If you could link me to the USC tape that would be awesome, otherwise I'll try to find it. I really want to be comfortable with Randall. there are some positives, I'm just really wary on these late risers, it's usually more because of a great combine then the fact that they are great football players. Of course, Jamie Collins of the Pats was a combine freak and worked out great in the NFL so far, so it can go both ways.

  8. I have to admit, the draft is today and I'm feeling very nervous. I want a great player to fall to us in round 1 that has a chance to improve this team. Having said that, I've heard a lot of rumors and talk that a guy named Demarious Randall may be our pick at 29. Now he is an interchangable safety and he is the top Safety on Mike Mayock's board (my favorite draft anaylst who I trust vehemently) that went at 20 to the Eagles. I will admit I don't know a lot about him, except the fact that he fits the mold of the modern-day Safety, he can play both safety positions, and most importantly and most scary, he was a huge riser in the last month or two. He has risen so much, that there's a good chance he could go ahead of Landon Collins. I'm really worried about taking him at this point and was wondering if you guys could tell me about him, tell me the positives and negatives you know to put my mind at ease a bit before the draft. I would really appreciate this, thanks!

  9. The draft is almost here and I'm sure we all are excited for this fun time. We have a full slate of picks for the first time since 2012 and we have a chance to really build our team going forward (especially the defense). My Question to everyone here is, what pick do you want one day before the draft in round 1? There are a few rules to this question:

1.) You have to say who you want, not who you think we will get.

2.) The pick has to be semi-realistic at least (has a 50% chance or more of being there)

3.) If it's an unusual player or an unusual position, explain your reasoning.

My pick is Eddie Goldman at this point. He's a solid run stopper that would instantly improve our D-Line and I think he has at least a 50% chance of being there. My opinion is he is the right person to choose and he is the person I want to have for the future. If we don't take a D-Lineman in round 1, the options will significantly get worse in round 2. Goldman is my guy, and I want to secure him for the future.

What is your pick in round 1?

  10. Carter isn't the kind of CB we want i think he could be a better S for us, but teams with zone coverage are gonna take him on the late 2nd or early 3rd.

TY Montgomery is gonna be a 4th rounder at worse, he has a good set of tools. i would rather take the boy from Hobart Marpet he is this year Joel Bitonio or Larry Wardford, he handled really well all the DTs.

I'll take a look at Marpet, if i really like him, I'll put him on my final mock on draft day. I think even though TY Montgomery is diverse, he could definitely fall below the 4th. Carter was a BPA pick that I kinda like anyway. He might not fit our scheme perfect, but he could be very solid. There are some corners I like in the first two rounds, but I opted to go Goldman in the first, and Rollins was gone before my second pick. Good feedback and I appreciate it.

  11. This is mock 2 of 3 of my Colts real life mock drafts. Sorry I'm a little late on this one. There were some changes and some things I heard that made me change my draft around some. I think we will draft D-Line as of now and my draft reflects it. After this mock, there will be one more on draft day that will be my official guess on who the Colts draft. The first two are on first-pick, the third mock will be done purely by myself. Here is the mock draft.

Round 1 Pick 29: Eddie Goldman, DT, Florida State (A-)
Round 2 Pick 29: A.J. Cann, OG, South Carolina (A)
Round 3 Pick 29: Derron Smith, FS, Fresno State (A-)
Round 4 Pick 29: Alex Carter, CB, Stanford (A)
Round 5 Pick 29: Zach Hodges, OLB, Harvard (B+)
Round 6 Pick 29: Josh Robinson, RB, Mississippi St. (A+)
    Round 6 Pick 31: Ty Montgomery, WR/RB, Stanford (A+)
    Round 7 Pick 27: Justin Manton, K, Louisiana-Monroe (A+)
Round 7 Pick 38 (COMP): Darryl Baldwin, OT, Ohio State (A-)

Eddie Goldman is the perfect pick on day 1. He will have a good chance to fall to 29, and he will beef up our D-Line should we take him. I didn't like what was available in round 2, and Donovan Smith and Demarious Randall were taken before me, so I went with AJ Cann, the best Guard in the draft. We have lots of ways we could play him and he may be able to beat out Herramans straight out. Derron Smith is a FS that I love and I think would make perfect sense in round 3. Alex Carter is a solid CB that would be great for the future in round 4. Some feel good stories in rounds 5 and 6 with Hodges and Robinson, but also excellent players that could definitely make the team and make an impact. Ty is a solid WR that has fallen a lot, can do a lot and would be excellent value in round 6. The controversial pick is in round 7 with Justin Manton. The best Kicker in the draft that could replace Vinatieri. I know a Kicker seems like a waste, but to get our kicker for the next 15 years is a great use of a late 7th. Finally we get a tackle with our comp pick that has a chance of making the team.
