  1. THIS...

Baseball is TRYING to stay relevant.    And they see their relevancy slipping away by the day.

So ...   GODell and the NFL said...   "what ever" ...        cya.

Baseball is dead.       And honestly, I totally agree with REX.    He could have been more eloquent.    But the message was clear.   And TRUE.

Agreed. In a day where even football owners are struggling to put fans in seats, baseball is no exception. The entire culture of baseball is devastated with the advent of faster media, the down economy, and wide-screen plasma TV's providing better on-field clarity. America has a more violent sporting crowd, evidenced by the rise of UFC cage matches over traditional boxing, and even WWE wrestling's increased violent undertones.

Baseball is simply too laid back and slow. It was fine in the days of black and white television, radio, lack of Internet, and bringing the family together for some peanuts and crackerjacks, but now families are being brought together for an entirely different reason... To see the crap kicked out of people! GRRRR!

  2. I think DHB was promised the #1 WR spot when Reggie retires, assuming DHB plays well. DHB may also have been reminded that all the Colts receivers are either rookies or 1st-2nd year players, other than Reggie. DHB may also get the ball a lot and not be double teamed due to Reggie's presence. The city of Indy is also, well... nicer than Detroit. New stadium, young bright QB, indoors, and rich playoff history.

The Colts could have played this signing in so many different directions.

  3. I'd cut Sanchez some slack if he hadn't fumbled, but... he did. I'd cut him some slack if the fumble wasn't returned for a TD, but... it was. I'd cut him some slack if it wasn't against a division rival, but... it was. I'd cut him some slack if he wasn't playing at home, but... he was. I'd cut him some slack if it wasn't on Thanksgiving, but... it was.

So much face palm from this play.

  4. are-you-serious.jpg?w=640

    ... Seriously, are you?

To the possibility it will happen? Yea, I'm serious. The writing is all over the wall. NFL.com will not quit with this, and yet here we are only 15 days until draft day. Did you just see their recent Under Armor video?

Madden is even in on it. They're released a Leon Sandcastle player!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Adjbe8UlTQ

I wish I was joking too bro, but do you honestly think they would hype this thing up to the extent that they have and simply not mention him at all on draft day?

  5. With all the attention and constant NFL.com publicity on Leon leading up to the draft, I'm thinking this is a real possibility. Roger Goodell even cooperated in the Leon Sandcastle Superbowl commercial and we've seen Leon laughing with Andy Reid at the Kansas City facility. I think they're planning something for draft day.

I think they should do it. It's good to have a commissioner demonstrate a sense of humor, and it would lighten the mood of the draft rooms and fans in attendance. Then when Leon accepts the #1 jersey, Goodell can say once again, "Have we met before?" It would be like the commercial coming to life. Plus, this draft's top 10 is the most uncertain in recent memory, so they may as well have fun with the #1 pick.

  6. So now it truly is official, and it's funny what NFL.com says:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000158603/article/the-greatest-play-in-nfl-history-is-

"It's an understatement to say this selection comes as a surprise. Jackson was a No. 10 seed before he started busting brackets en route to a final-round win over Steve Young's winding touchdown run. But more than 58 million of you decided it was the greatest play in NFL history, so who are we to argue?

(Actually, we'd totally argue. There's no way this is a better play than the Immaculate Reception, Music City Miracle or David Tyree's Helmet Catch. This is the ugly side of democracy. Hope you are happy.)"

lol this is why fans voting in pro bowls is also a bad idea.

  7. http://www.nfl.com/bracketologyround6

It's not official, but it may as well be. Jackson's play has 58,620,900 votes to Young's 42,840,290. Maybe I'm missing something, but how is Jackson's punt return TD the Greatest play of all time!? How did it even get to the top 2 in the first place? Even better than Eli eluding multiple pass rushes and throwing the helmet catch to Tyree? Even better than Marshawn Lynche and his beast mode? Even better than (insert any other play here).

Only thing I can think of is a bunch of Philly fans rallied the community and did some funky spam technique to raise the number of votes.

  8. My concern is his mind. If he has sleep apnea as he says, then I don't care if he's Superman. Even Superman can throw interceptions. He needs to be mentally alert, selfless, honest, and accommodating to his teammates and coaches. That will be the real test, and it's hard to do that when the guy is falling asleep.

I remember reading a presumably true article back when Russell was with Oakland that summarizes Russell's mindset: One Oakland personnel had his suspicions Russell wasn't watching game tape like he should be, so he gave Russell a test: He presented Russell a blank tape. He asked Russell the next day, "Did the tape work out for you?" Russell replied, "yes."

  9. Every one of my O-lineman are 99 overall. Still get sacked every 3 plays.

Yea O-Lineman, in general, don't matter in Madden. It's been that like for a while. I can't find the video, but there's one vid where a skinny short Center consistently stood up DT's in practice mode.

If you ever find yourself doing draft modes, ultimate team, trades, etc. Always undervalue your high rated o-lineman and trade them away to suckers who think they need them. Build your team around fast speedy receivers, defenders, a mobile QB, etc. because speed is king.

  10. In my Career mode, I made the following moves:

    - Traded 4th rounder for Devin Hester. In Madden, speed kills, so this deal made great sense, and stone cold hands are not an issue in Madden when receivers have separation, which Hester often does.

    - From free agency I got Chad Johnson and Albert Haynesworth. In real life, these guys have huge personality issues, but because Madden doesn't care about personality, these signings made great sense. I could have also gotten Terrell Owens, but because he's so old, I'd rather reserve the experience point gains for my younger guys.

    - From free agency, I signed Bob Sanders. Despite his injury history, and yes he does have a bad injury score (30'ish), but because he plays at Safety and is rarely involved in plays, he has yet to be injured. I noticed injuries are a bit more rare in Madden than in real life, and injuries only occur on players who contribute to tackles, so this signing makes great sense.

    - Traded 3rd rounder and some no-name defensive end for Marcus Trufant from the Seahawks. I now have two capable CB's in both Trufant and Davis. Powers isn't too shabby either.

    - I kept both Freeney and Mathis. As LB's, they have 90'ish overall ratings, and despite Freeney being a 4-3 pass rusher, players in Madden have no qualms conforming to different defenses.

  11. the better opprutunity is with colts better system a hall of fame wr to learn from and a chance to revamp his career and prove he is a big time wr !! I won't loose any sleep either way but his best interest in mind the colts would be a great place to start just ask Donnie Avery

Problem is - while those are some noble reasons to play for us - some guys only think about $$$$$. I fear DHB is one of those guys. He was a top 10 first round pick who probably feels cheated he played with bad/mediocre QB's, so now he has an inflated ego thinking he's hot ****.

  12. Te'O mentioned he doesn't do well under stress in reference to his Combine performance. He also didn't do well in his final college game's BCS title loss. I wonder if him declining attendance to the NFL Draft is another stress related issue. I think he knows there's a chance he wont be picked in the 1st round, so he doesn't want to risk being the black sheep in the room when other/all rookies in attendance are picked before him. Maybe he's also afraid he will get boo'ed on-stage.

I know it's scary, but he should attend. This guy is a MLB and was touted as a leader, but his many question marks put those qualities into doubt. He should stand up for himself. I know several late 1st round picks stay home, but Te'O is a special exception where he needs to take the bull by the horns and confront his haters on stage.

  13. Now that it's confirmed the Broncos missed out on Dumervil, I'm turning my fangs on John Elway. Frankly, I still despise Elway receiving so much "GM of the year" recognition just because he signed Peyton, and this embarrassing Dumervil issue further proves Elway is incompetent. My first issue is why does Mr. Elway need paperwork via a fax machine? It wouldn't surprise me if he uses a slide projector during team meetings. Second, couldn't he have called Dumervil up personally and said, "Uhh... Dumervil, we're close to the deadline. You need to step it up, brah."

Yes, mistakes happen, but the fact is this circus event didn't happen to the other 31 teams. Why wasn't John beating down Dumervil and/or the agent's door to avoid this situation?
