  1. I wanted to post this earlier, but thought it was too soon. Now that Kubiak is out of the hospital with a clear diagnosis, I think it's time we discuss this.

Here is an NFL.com article of coaches on the hot seat after the Indy-Houston game. Kubiak is missing.

Here are articles of Kubiak on the hot seat before the game... Actually, there's too many to link, so take your pick:

Did Kubiak just buy himself another season? It could be a bad PR move to let him go after this season, just like it could have been a bad PR move for the Colts to have hired Arians over Pagano after Pagano's bout with cancer. Houston has lost their last six games after their 2-0 start, are having a QB controversy/transition, have plenty of pro-bowl players, yet they're 2-6. I think the issue is the culture, and it starts with Kubiak. He clearly has issues preaching 60-minute football, and anyone who watches Colts-Houston match-ups knows what I'm talking about. He needs to be shown the door. My sympathies to him, but Houston needs to stop embarrassing themselves. It's time for a change, and what better time than with a new QB.

  2. Jets knocked me out of my elimination pick-em pool. I should have stayed away from this game. Playing at the Jets, Rex Ryan has a huge history of beating his brother, and Chris Ivory playing against his former team.

However, the biggest issue that I couldn't have predicted: Darren Sproles getting knocked out of the game early. Huge loss for the Saints.

  3. Steelers look weaker than I've ever seen them. Tons of aging players. Last I checked, they're the oldest team in the NFL. They need to get back to the drawing board and bring in some fresh faces.

Edit: Also, it didn't help that Ben said Tom Brady is the best QB in the NFL. That couldn't have made the Steelers teammates happy. Even if it's true, Big Ben doesn't have to go off saying that before their game. What a way to demoralize their defense.

  4. Mike Pereira has done this in the past on a number of questionable referee judgement calls. In this game, there were two major ones I hope he addresses:

1.) The fumble recovery that did not graze the foot of Brazill, although it did graze his fingertips.

2.) Andre Johnson's sideline catch that seemingly was a completion, but was bobbled.

On both calls, Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth got it wrong. On both calls, the plays were reversed, meaning there WAS evidence to overturn. Yet, on the first play in particular, Al and Cris were not convinced there was any evidence.

I'm hoping someone could keep their eyes out for any links to these referee calls and post them when they find them. I'll do my best to find any info too. I'm more confused by the sport of football than I ever was after this game.

  5. I think Richardson has been underutilized.  He is clearly very explosive and nearly impossible to tackle; I want to see him in space.  Give him the ball on screens.  Get the ball in his hands while he is in the open field and watch him do his thing

I remember them doing a screen with him once, and he preceded to drop the pass. Just saying :D.

  6. I read somewhere that while it's true Europe wants their own football team, if it had to be the Jaguars, they'd rather decline. European players take sports very seriously, and they do not want a team with zero chance of contending.

Of course, the irony is a team with a chance of contending is not going to want to move to Europe, so Europe better soften up to the Jags because that's the best they're going to get.

  7. I wouldn't trade up. Ryan Grigson has proven to be successful at finding hidden talent at the bottom of the well. I'd let the man do his thing and challenge us to stay where we are, or even consider trading down.

This year's QB draft class is supposed to be good, so maybe a lot of teams will use 1st rounders on QB's, pushing some good talent down and making our 2nd rounder attractive.

  8. Umm... that means that the jags have been losing on purpose for like 10 years now. That wouldn't make sense.

Maybe they're just hopeful in gabbert. Because they had their chance in this past draft.

Jacksonville had hoped Gabbert could be groomed to be successful, and because Jacksonville used a 1st round 10th overall selection on the guy, they needed to give him time. Now it's written all over the walls he's bad and Jacksonville has moved on. So why are they using Henne when they could take a chance on plenty of other free agent QB's? That to me suggests they want to lose. They don't even want to scout, even if they could scout.

  9. It really answers the questions to the fact that the only reason why organizations like the Browns, Bills, and Raiders have a bad team is because of their lack of scouting.

For some teams, I think there's more to it. For example, why havent the Jaguars signed a better QB? You don't need good scouts to tell you Chad Henne doesn't give them their best chance of winning. Even Tim Tebow would at least generate revenue and fan interest. I think the Jags are trying to lose on purpose. It reeks of the Curtis Painter syndrome, where the Colts wouldn't sign anyone to replace Painter, even though he clearly wasn't a good option and Dan Orlovsky was clearly better.

  10. I want us all to dig deep on this one, so I need our elders help on this one.

When I think back to the 0-16 Lions, they were bad, but I recall they lost some games by a FG, so they gave it an honest effort. The Jags, however, I see nothing out of them. So far, none of the Jags games have been close. Closest was Jacksonville at Oakland 9-19. Jags are ranked 32nd in scoring, 32nd in yards allowed, 20th in passing yds, and 31st in rushing. The 20th in passing is because they have to pass being down so many pts on a consistent basis.

I know some stats weren't calculated back then as they are today, but to those who remember watching the teams of old, is there a bad performance you've seen that trumps the Jags?

  11. I dont know if Jerry has the clout to essentially restructure everyone on the team

I'm not sure how knowledgeable you are of Dallas, but Jerry Jones is the ultimate authority. If he tells someone to get on their knees and lick his shoe, you can bet they're going to start dropping.
