If they don't go huge in FA next year and jump into the top 10 in terms of overall good teams, then I'll start to wonder if Ballard is the right guy.

They must have a plan with the psychotic amount of cap they'll have next year.

If his vision was to create solid young depth across the board and then go big in FA while being a little frugal his first two years, then I might start thinking genius.

    i concur

Two weeks - impossible to say anything.  Week one they couldn't run the ball and were terrible on defense.  Week one was a Pagano-esque loss.

As far as the defensive scheme goes, I always hated this defense under Polian and Dungy, but in watching it yesterday I thought, if you use bigger ends on early downs, bigger DTs and have a sideline-to-sideline playmaking LB, I think I might actually like it.  Now we just need the Freeney/Mathis speed rush, and for Hooker's potential ball skills to be seen and realized, you have to get a consistent rush off the edge to hurry a few throws, otherwise Hooker will be invisible.

It was reported this week the Rams planned to get Mack from the Raiders for one year and one year only, to win the SB then trade him off. It's called "win now". Ballard is not of that school. He is building from a foundation he will own this year and the years in the future. Sometimes both methods work and sometimes they do not.

fans have to be patient and wait years for ballards method to work if it ever does, guys like hoodie go all out each season both methods can work one just takes a lot longer and luck is getting older

You gotta be kidding.  The Colts are more talented IMO...

not kidding ballard is an owners dream filling the team with rookie contract draft picks and low pay castoffs from other teams cuts no game changers on the roster except luck hard to compete with below average low pay talent

That strategy works for the Pats because BB is the GOAT HC. He could scheme an AFL player into looking like an all pro. Building through the draft is important. Remember that Tom Brady was a Patriots DRAFT CHOICE. Never underestimate the power of the draft.

how has the power of the draft worked out for us, will we make the playoffs this year, the draft is great for getting a qb but to compete each season need more than the draft and low tier cuts from other teams

i agree the draft is important but to be competitive each season you have to add playmakers in all ways not just the draft and other teams low priced cuts

The question that should be asked from the announcers is.....why is it like last year, the colts go to a protect the lead defense? Instead of doing what they did the first 3 Quarters and run blitz packages, they drop everyone back into coverage allowing Dalton to have all that time to throw the ball. Surely I can't be the only one who has seen that since last year?  or am I losing my mind? lol

new coaches should be different but they dont seem to be

  8. seems like we wasted lucks years with the never ending rebuild with low dollar low talent players, no big impact draft picks. we need to copy the pats way. no rebuild just put above average talent on the field each season, does not  matter to bill how he gets them no long term building through the draft for them
