He’s tried to fix the pass rush - drafting Paye and Dayo, trading for Ngonkue.
These moves have not yet borne any fruit. We get no pressure on opposing QBs.
ballard is a poor judge of talent and they are not located in the bargain bin and over paying a guard

this is going to be ballards final season with the colts. he has wiffed on pass rushers, he let glow and reed get away and our o-line has regressed, his wr and te picks are lacking, and he has failed to sign any elite wr talent. i can see us in line for the number one pick.
-
one positive thing cuts will be easy with our lack of above average talent
-
if ballards receivers and pass rush dont live up to his hype this may be his last season here

What has happened more often?
1. A team drafted a great WR.
2. A team signed a great WR.
3. A team traded for a great WR.
I think the answer is obviously #1, so Im just curious why so many people are obsessed with the Colts going any other route?
because ballard has missed on so many wr picks

Rumor is we had a deal with Ju Ju when it looked like Watson was going to Falcons. Because Ryan would of been a colt. When Watson changed his mind so did Ju Ju. He could of held out a little longer to see who the colts QB was but he had a chance to go to the chiefs. The QB situation taking longer then expected screwed everything up.
ballard was sitting on his hands while the elite talented receivers signed with other teams

Some just complain or they wouldn’t have anything to say otherwise. I want players added too but there is still a draft and more of a free agent period to go. Patience is required.
delayed gratification , year six and waiting

We produced a lot of Pro bowlers. 3 all pros. So far we have lost none of the pro bowlers. Gained a MVP, excellent not elite pass rusher.
Baffles me how we can have 27 pages of disgruntled fans complaining about his job.
simple, no playoffs , just average record

Every single year we go thru it and then find out 6-8 months later or sooner that yeah, we did infact target person XYZ and they chose elsewhere for various reasons. I have to say this every single year. This isn’t madden on Xbox or play box or whatever they’re called, where it’s as simple as throwing money at a player.
Ballard himself just said the other day on the Pat show that they had targeted others but it was tough getting a deal in not having the QB issues solved first and admitted they’d missed out on a couple targets for that very reason. Then went on to say that they will keep churning all the way thru the off season to find someone, or even trade for someone.
so patience
more delayed gratification

You know, to assume that Ballard isn’t working hard to address an obvious need at WR is silly. He’s admitted the team needs more firepower at receiver. He’s also admitted that without a QB in place it was next to impossible to attract a top talent. Now that Ryan is here, I have no doubt they are working the phones trying to improve the position. Let’s wait to see what happens.
There are potential trades out there; a few decent FAs who can help assuming the price is right. Patience is a virtue in short supply during the FA period in the NFL. But patience is required right now. I suggest a few posters on here give it a try.

Maybe he doesn't want to build a roster like that, he has stated such in the past my friend, and continues to keep his word, he isn't lying to you, some fans just need to come back to the reality of this teams culture, and it's the Ballard and Reich way, they won't overpay for star players....
They will however, build the trenches, put an aggressive defense on the field, paired with a bruising run game with a quarterback who can manage a game and is consistent from game to game Ala matt Ryan.
and not make the playoffs

There's no way Beasley would be worth what he's asking as a FA. You could easily find someone in the draft that could give you equal production this season with much higher upside.
most of ballards wr picks in the draft have been strikeouts

The good news is there are still a lot of good FA out there if colts can get this QB solved. Free agency has moved very slow this year.
can someone help ballard make a decision? his job may depend on it

LolLike I said in another post, GMs are on borrowed time. This is not some 25 year investment portfolio, 401k stock option plan.
The typical GM, who is not in ownership or a Belichick, gets an average of 5 years to right the ship.
ballards tenure has been 5 years too long

Ballards going to trade for a good proven WR. No doubt in my mind. Robert Woods would be pretty nice. Ballard probably has been working 18 hour days minimum the last few weeks. He will make us better. It just takes time.
delayed gratification in last place

The offense barely has any players on the roster. That's a fact. There are only two sources, free agency and the draft.
His plan is to not have anybody under contract on offense, and then to rely upon getting them in free agency or have the players fall to him in the draft the right way?
Does that sound like a plan? Not just a different plan than mine, but any reasonable plan at all?
Or is the situation a culmination of previously bad decisions coming to a head in one offseason?
sounds like a plan of delayed gratification

Had to refresh this thread after today's debacle.
Im told you guys, in 2 different threads now, that CB has done nothing....NOTHING to show me he has what it takes to rebuild this team.
A guard and a safety with 2 high picks?
Failure to supply a servicable WR crew?
Coaching fiasco?
No FA's to speak of?
Drafts are very suspect.
But hey, if you ask CB (and many of his white knight fans on this board, he is the greatest GM ever!
This team is 5-17 since he took over and getting worse.
Think about that.i concur

i concur, look at cleveland, thus the fallacy of only building through the draft
