Not sure what his injury is either. Not sure who I’d rather face for next game though Mariotta or Gabbert.

He suffered a stinger and will be evaluated later in the week.

Run defense was good from start to finish. Barkley had a couple nice gains, but nothing more than 6 yards, and he averaged less than 2 yards/carry. Engram's end arounds and Gallman's one 8 yarder were their best plays on the ground.

The pass defense was a different story. Ugly for most of the game, little pass rush, and poor tackling after the catch. But they tightened up late in the game and did just enough, then capitalized on Eli's bad throw to end the game.

They did a good job of staying tough and finishing, despite all the injuries. Great win.

    Very fair (and accurate) summation.

After today, I think everyone realizes how important Walker has become.  Also, Geathers did not look like himself during the Colts' 1-5 stretch.  These past 8-9 games, Geathers has been an absolute force in the secondary (including being a physical, sure tackler).

  3. Here's a recap of the draft.  Every single player drafted is still on the 53-man roster (Cain is on IR).  All of the healthy guys have played meaningful snaps.

Round 1, Pick 6 (No. 6 overall): Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame

Round 2, Pick 4 (No. 36 overall): Darius Leonard, LB, South Carolina St.

Round 2, Pick 5 (No. 37 overall): Braden Smith, G, Auburn

Round 2, Pick 20 (No. 52 overall): Kemoko Turay, DE, Rutgers

Round 2, Pick 32 (No. 64 overall): Tyquan Lewis, DE, Ohio State

Round 4, Pick 4 (No. 104 overall): Nyheim Hines, RB, North Carolina State

Round 5, Pick 22 (No. 159 overall): Daurice Fountain, WR, Northern Iowa

Round 5, Pick 32 (No. 169 overall): Jordan Wilkins, RB, Mississippi State

Round 6, Pick 11 (No. 165 overall): Deon Cain, WR, Clemson

Round 7, Pick 3 (No. 221 overall): Matthew Adams, LB, Houston

Round 7, Pick 17 (No. 235 overall): Zaire Franklin, LB, Syracuse

I am not sure he will add a lot to the game plan.  Dallas is not a sophisticated scheme.  They r pretty basic on offense.  I think they will play a or if zone as Dak likes to cough  up the ball.  I think they will play our offense the way they played Philly.  Alot of man

But he knows their personnel (e.g., which offensive formations put the weakest defensive personnel groupings on the field for Dallas, who to run out on the d-line, who to target in the LB and secondary corps, etc.).

The NFL is all about creating favorable match-ups.  I think based on personnel knowledge alone he could add a lot to the game plan.

  5. . . . could be a pretty decent advantage for the Colts this week in setting up the game plan against the Cowboys.  It's not so much the knowledge of the scheme or calls (which can be changed), it's knowing where to attack the personnel.

Kind of reminds me of when Patricia's Lions went up against his former team earlier this year.

Don't mind the fact that the Cowboys had to leave their guts on the field to get a win in OT against the Eagles.

Yeah, this happened 3 years ago when i was a loader for a distribution warehouse.  It was awful.  It would catch and click/snap like rubber bands in and around my elbow no matter how i would move my wrist or bend my elbow. Minor surgery, and 3 months of physical therapy to strengthen it back up, and it is better than it was before it happened. Thanks for asking ^^

Ouch; that sounds painful.  Orthopedic injuries are no joke.  Especially if you have a physically demanding job.  Glad you're back to full strength bro!

  7. Ask and you shall receive, OP!

According to Matt Eberflus, when he starts actually practicing hard:

"Yeah, I do see the talent there,” Eberflus explained. “Now, what he has to learn to do is practice the way we practice. The way we practice is full-out. There is walk-through, and then full speed. Then, once you learn to play full speed all the time, that’s practicing our way. I think he’s learning to do that. He’s not there yet, relative to that. But we have a style in which we play, and each player is held to that standard. When he does that, we will see where he is.

Eberflus doesn't throw him under the bus, but it's pretty easy to read the writing on the wall there.  Doesn't sound super encouraging but I wasn't expecting much from such a low-risk signing.

He is releasing at his step rather than just after, His hip twist is timed with his step rather than just after. which gives power.  And more elbow means less stress on the shoulder.  Believe it or not, Elbow and wrist are more intertwined than elbow and shoulder.  I found this out when i had to go through therapy when i tore all my tendons around my elbow. while going through therapy, i had to wear a wrist brace to keep my wrist from turning/twisting.  I was told to use my shoulder more to alleviate stress on my elbow tendons.

How's your elbow doing now?  Hope you had a full recovery!

Basically what i gather from it is Luck is using a lot more elbow in his motion rather than hips/shoulder.  This does allow for a slightly quicker release, but less power.  And he is timing his hip twist with his forward lean and release better.  This puts some power back into it.

Which is what led me to my comment above.

Luck worked with Tom House this off-season.  The entire purpose was to help Luck use more of his lower body and less of his elbow/shoulder/arm in order to get more power on throws and take stress off of his surgically repaired shoulder.

This guy is basically suggesting that Luck is doing the opposite to what he was trained to do with House.  Which I'm not seeing with my eyes when watching the tape.

Found this on Youtube.  Didn't know if anyone else has done one, or posted one.  Figured i'd share for those who'd like to know.

    Thanks for posting.

Just a disclaimer (and this is not a shot at you at all, OP): This guy narrating the video doesn't seem to know what he's talking about with respect to analyzing throwing motions.

We get vague descriptions of what his body is doing instead of a detailed description of the changes in mechanics and what those changes mean for both performance and health.

Don’t slap a confused emoji on my post just because you can’t remember lol.  It was less than a year ago, too!

Respect for owning up, but I gotta give you a "c'mon man" for not doing some research on the quality of the source before posting.

He has a reputation of not taking his craft seriously (examples of behavior supporting that claim: showing up to camp overweight, spends less time honing his route running compared to teammates).

I was much more interested in Cooper.  Cooper had his flaws too . . . but he has completely ignited that Cowboys offense in a very short period of time.

On the flip side, Benjamin would provide a body type that the Colts haven't had in a long time.

  15. Colts defense did their job today.  The defense actually exceeded my expectations.

The offense didn't play well, at all.  But also, give credit to the Jaguars defense for playing extremely well.

Coaching grade today: D.  You have to take the points in the NFL when you get them.  Especially on the road.

I know this take isn't outrageous or flashy, but I think it's fairly accurate.
