I wouldn't belly up on 8 and 2 quite yet.  While Denver cant seem to protect Flacco their running backs could give us hell.

    Dolphins yeah probably.

Even though Steelers are banged up we have struggled against them so that will be a tough game.

And Jacksonville always gives us hell. Look at the Cody Kessler game from last season.

I'd love to be 7 and 3 from that stretch and hopefully not 6 and 4.

The Broncos couldn't run on Kansas City.  They had 71 yards total rushing from their 2 RBs.

The same Kansas City that the Colts shredded.

I don't feel for them at all, that's exactly what we try to do to other teams.  Smashmouth ball, I love every minute of it.

As Colts fan, we've been on the other end of that experience before and it sucks.  Loved beating the Texans, but never want to see anyone get hurt.

You can't take one play and ignore the rest. Snap fumbles are just a price of doing business.

Just fall on it next time.  I didn't ignore them.  He had a good bounce-back drive there.

Hit his wide-open guys like he should've.

    How about 2 TDs today?

    See above.

  4. It's literally painful to watch the Broncos offense.  On a side note, they are not a very well-coached team.  The whole organization is giving off a very amateurish vibe right now.  Really bizarre to witness.

To call Joe Flacco a statue in the pocket would be an insult to statues; they're more mobile than Joe.

I would be shocked if the Broncos don't start a fire sale.

    He will play.

Desir isn't as good as last year.

That bad hammy has to be bothering him.  He has definitely regressed.  PFF season grade currently sitting at a woeful 52.7.

Moore hasn't been as strong either, grading out at a 64.2.

    Wilson: 43.1 (yikes)

    Ya-Sin: 61.5

Overall, it's been a rough year for the CBs.

2 of the safeties, on the other hand, have been quite good.

    Willis: 70.8 (good)

    Hooker: 76.1 (good)

I am shocked that Desir and Moore went back into that KC game and still can’t practice after having a bye week. Hopefully this just means they are getting more treatment instead of practicing. Desir would be huge if he can’t go against Hopkins. We would miss Kenny blitzing. That would mean we would be down to rock and Wilson with Taylor playing the slot. If they don’t play that greatly reduces the chances of winning with the Texans weapons.

Friday will be the key practice to watch, for sure.  Think they're probably just getting maximum rest.

I agree that no Desir and no Moore would be bad news.

On the flip side, if Hooker can play, that is tremendous news.

I was listening to a podcast today. They mentioned he is doing his job. He plays a position that doesn’t show up on a stat sheet. He just had a good start to the season last year. Not sure how true that is.

Do you remember the podcast?  I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.  If he was doing his job, he wouldn't have his defensive snap counts significantly reduced.

Furthermore, his PFF grade is an abysmal 49.4.  Hunt was absolutely destroyed in the Raiders game.

  8. In 5 games, he has 1 tackle (solo) on the season.

    Here's his snap count:

    LAC - 35

    TEN - 28

    ATL - 36

    OAK - 19

    KAN - 15

It's clear that his snap count is being reduced.  He has not been playing well this year.  He hasn't produced a tackle (not even an assist) since TEN.

I think right now, Reich would like to rely less on the running game. Like @Chloe6124 mentioned earlier, FR said they are at 48/52 run-pass ration right now, and he'd like to be closer to 40/60 than 50/50.

The only difference IMO between the 2nd half of 2018 vs now, is that we simply are running it with a higher frequency. Mack's yards per carry is the exact same (4.7 yards) this year as it was last. Right now, Mack has the second most attempts per game in the league. That's a recipe for injury and/or wearing out your RB1.

I don't think Reich cares, at all.  Plus, they've got a healthy Wilkins now (and Hines) to ease the load, should they need to.

“I’m not even sure the most carries he has had in his career whether in college or pros. Like last year when Andrew (Luck) was on pace to throw it 700 times or whatever, it usually has a way of working itself out,” Reich told the media Monday. “But right now (with) the way Marlon (Mack) is taking care of himself and how strong – I mean it feels to me like he is getting stronger. It feels to me like Marlon is getting stronger as the year is going on. I don’t sense any wear and tear on his body. So we will just keep rolling.”

That includes the first 3rd of the season before the current 5 were assembled.

Look at the Dallas game last year. They dominated on the ground. Luck had about 200 yards passing and 0 TDs. ....

Mack averaged 4.7 yds per carry last year.

Mack is averaging 4.7 yds per carry this year.

Exactly the same run blocking production last year and this year.

Wait, so you're comparing just the Dallas game last year, with the entirety of this year?

And no one is taking into account that teams are playing the Colts differently (bringing extra defenders into the box) with no Luck?

Yeah, I'm bowing out of this thread lol.

I'd say we were just as good the second half of of 2018 after the musical chairs at OL settled, and Mack got healthy.

Reich still wasn't satisfied, considering the OL staff changes.  I think the both the OL play, generally, and the running game are going to continue to improve under the new scheme.

How are they better than last year?   (once the 5 were assembled)

Same players playing at the same high level.

The run blocking is significantly better.

The Colts are ranked 4th in the NFL in terms of rushing yards per game.

They were ranked 16th last year.

This is such a good point. Most of the time game managers don’t have great arms. JB can make all the throws. Even elite ones. People need to give him time to figure it out and quit expecting him to be luck. The faster   You realize that the more your going to enjoy the season. You can’t teach arm strength. He has all the tools. Now he just needs to put it all together to reach the next level.

He has 2 great physical tools: size, arm strength.  He's also a great leader.  Unfortunately, he lacks a lot of elite "intangibles" that can't be taught.  Some things, you either have or you don't.

He doesn't have: a quick release (he has one of the slowest deliveries in the league); an abundance of touch (a contributing factor, I think, to the Ebron drops); anticipation (he has not demonstrated an ability to "throw" guys open; if a WR/TE/RB isn't wide open, JB isn't pulling the trigger); great eyes (I don't think I've once seen JB "look off" a safety; re-watching the all-22 of the Chiefs game, he straight-up just locks onto his WRs).

These are all things that have been listed on scouting reports re: Brisett.  And so far this season, he hasn't magically overcome these deficiencies.

The Colts can win games with JB, but I don't think he's going to be the answer at QB.
