it's pretty clear that some people care way too much about what a blog posts. who really cares what someone says on a blog!. it's like people that get all bent out of shape because someone says something about them on a forum. getting mad at someone you have never met and probably never will. no wonder the country is headed where it is.

if wayne will take a salary about the same as he is making now without the big signing bonus, i would sign him. i think mathis will be reasonable to resign. saturday may want to retire. he has had a lot of injuries the last couple years, ones long term health has to be considered.
-
my guess is freeney will have his contract extended this year (his deal is for onre more year). and by extended i also mean restructured. No way in heck we can handle his cap room + Manning's next year. I cant remember the cap hit for freeney's contract but i remember been huge.
i agree, freeney 's cap hit is 19.5 million next year!

lets say someone tells a reporter "bernie madoff scammed me out of money, but i should have known better and done a better job of researching him." then the reporter writes "madoff scammes this person." in a article. is that being misquoted or taken out of context? the guy is saying he has some of the blame.
-
diem was supposed to make 5.4 million before he was cut, i believe he is 2.3 million now. wayne is 5.9 and 6.2 million. clark is 7.7
clarks is WAY over payed, and i have said this since he signed his contract. i really like freeney, but he is making too much money. i didn't like the brackett contract ether. his contract hurts the colts the next 3 years, that's when he is really over priced. hughes is way over payed, but that's the crap shoot you take with first round picks. bad 2nd contract decisions are all on the team management. freeney is in mannings salary cap area next year, and that has to be addressed.

Big whoopie! Angerer and Conner are great and chasing guys down from behind!!! Let's have a party!
PUHLEEZZZZEEE!!! You know why Angerer and Conner are getting so many tackles? They can't get anyone off the darned field! Luckily, we are so terrible at stopping the pass so teams just fling the ball around at will on us. If we could actually make a stop on the pass, we would get run on more and Angerer and Conner could get even MORE tackles 7, 8, 10, or 59 yards down the field! Yeah for them!!!
i have been saying this since last year. most of angerer's tackles on running plays are 5 yards down field. i am sure no team is game-planing around the leading tackler in the nfl. LOL

saying he was misquoted is just ridiculous! he said it (along with blame for the team), but he did say it. he has been the public eye for a long time and should know that all media pick apart everything public figures say. saying the team was out coached only means one thing, no matter who else is blamed along with it. bottom line is, don't say something that you don't want made public!!
-
i haven't liked caldwell for a while, but the coaching job done this year is absolutely terrible. there is way too much talent on this team to be as bad as they have been this year. you can add coaches to the list of wr's and o-lineman that manning makes look much better than they really are.
-
Also, when was the last time a big name college coach actually did anything in the NFL? Pete Carrol, Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Petrino, Butch Davis, and Dennis Erikson were all failures in the NFL. The only college coach that really comes to my mind is Jimmy Johnson. If we get a new coach we need to bring someone from the outside that is currently in the NFL.
i completely agree.
i think zimmer would be a very good choice with the colts.
-
you got that stat backwards. it's sixth most yards allowed
i was going to post the same thing.

So if we're at #1 then we trade down to #2 or #3 for whoever wants Luck the most, and then trade down again....get a king's ransom twice.
This has always been my preferred position if we get the #1 pick.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see the biggest offer come from Washington...they're almost always very active in FA trying to build the team that way so for a team like that, draft picks aren't quite as valuable when compared to a team like the Colts who build almost exclusively through the draft. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a big offer coming from Dallas because I don't think Romo will be back next year, at least not as the starter.
this is funny. i didn't read your post until i posted mine.

a team with a top 3 pick isn't going to swap picks AND give up multiple top picks. i know everyone is a colts fan, but be realistic. a team like washington would have to give up multiple top picks because they don't have the top 3-5 pick to swap. this is going to make it tough for the skins to get the top pick. i can see the colts doing the first pick for the 2-4 pick plus a 2nd or 1st next year, then trading down again with a team like the skins for multiple picks. the colts would pick in the middle of the first round and gain a ton of extra picks this year and/or next.
-
doogan, i agree with your post except for the wr. if manning is healthy he makes average wr's look good. de depends on what happens with mathis.
cb is by far the biggest need! then lb and saftey. it would be nice to have a mlb that doesn't get pushed around. cb's and ot's are supposedly pretty deep, so the only player i would want the colts to use a top pick on would be luck (if manning can't play). i would try to trade out of the top 10 (once or twice) and get extra 1st and 2nd round picks.
-
why would you start breaking up a championship caliber team if manning will be back next year?
-
I'm not a pro-Luck person. I wouldn't mind drafting him but we have more pressing needs then a back up quarterback.
that's why i said "the only question will be, what team drafts him".
if manning is healthy, the colts will definitely trade the pick for the best offer.
-
the first pick will be a qb!
the only question will be, what team drafts him.

Per Michael Lombardi:
http://wap.nfl.com/b...ayne-available/
If there were no possibility of getting compensatory picks for Wayne or Mathis is we don't re-sign them, then why would Lombardi make a statement about what round we would receive a compensatory pick in for a player like Wayne or Mathis?
the colts will only get compensation from a team that signs them as free agents if the colts franchise the player. i posted a link to what the rules were regarding free agents.
i have no clue what lombardi is talking about, maybe he doesn't ether.
-
what is the fascination with jim tressel??
he got caught cheating at youngstown state and ohio state!
i don't believe there is any way the colts would hire a college coach.
-
I can't find anything that specifically defines a "compensatory free agent" as either an unrestricted or restricted. My understanding is it could apply to both. I am almost positive we've received compensatory picks in the past after losing key unrestricted free agents. If anyone can find an official link that can clear this up that'd be great.
we received picks for restricted free agents, they are different.
The definition that we cited above by the CBA for a Free Agent is really the definition of an "Unrestricted Free Agent" (UFA). More specifically, an UFA is : "[a] player [that] shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club, and any Club shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with such player, without penalty or restriction, including, but not limited to, Draft Choice Compensation between Clubs or First Refusal Rights of any kind." Basically, what that means is that an UFA is free to sign with the highest bidder (or the team of their choice) without that team having to give the original team any kind of compensation. When a player with five or more accrued seasons (or with four or more accrued seasons in any Capped Year) reaches the end of his player contract, he becomes an UFA.
-
Prior to finalizing a trade, any potential trade partner would be allowed the opportunity to talk to both Wayne and Mathis so that they can workout a new contract. That's how teams safeguard themselves when trading for a player who will wind up an UFA the following offseason. This is also one thing that could keep them from being packaged to the same team.
that could be done, but is VERY unlikely.
-
The colts would likely get a compensatory pick for each one I believe in the 2013 draft, and the round would be determined by their playing time and impact to the new team vs. the same for any FA's we bring in this coming offseason.
like i said in a earlier post. they are unrestricted free agents. there is no compensation picks for loosing them.
-
Meanwhile, back on planet earth...
There is no way that Wayne & Mathis, either individually or collectively, would garner a 1st round pick.
exactly!
some team is going to give up a 1st round pick for players that can walk away after this year and they get nothing.
-
Hopefully we will franchise or sign Mathis..... With both Wayne and Garcon free agents, we will only be keeping one of them. No way we should trade either for picks especially for a fourth round pick.........
no way mathis is payed $13 million/year. that's what would happen if he is franchised.
-
i am sure both players are unrestricted free agents, and the colts would get nothing if they sign with another team.

when freeney signed the contract he was a every down de. for whatever reason, he isn't now. can you give me a list of the part time players that are payed the top salary at their position.
