  1. That and their game is different, Lucks athleticism is helping him while he learns to play at this speed. Peyton on the other hand had to take the sacks or try to throw it away, Luck extends the play and tends to complete when on the run.

I agree, he's a bit of a play-maker and a bit of a genius. If Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisburger had a kid, it would be Andrew Luck.
  2. I always wonder how he's treated in the locker room. When he first arrived, I'm sure he was treated like a rookie. However, after four games--and how well he's performed in those games--I'm sure no one treats him like a rookie anymore.

I don't foresee a "friar Tebow" haircut in his future.

  3. The Jets are at home, which is not good news for Sanchize. He will get booed after his first incompletion. He will have to play nearly a perfect game for his own fans to back him up.

After last weeks emotional loss to the Texans--a game where they put it all out on the line-- I question the Jets' mental toughness to bounce back from that type of a loss. It will be answered this weekend. Let's see if they band together during adversity or if they fall apart.

I predict a hard fought game, because the Jets know that if they lose this one, their season is likely over.

    Jets 17 Colts 10.

  4. We're down 4 starters. I am hopefull that we have 4 capable replacments.

    1. Angerer- I think that Freeman has done a great job and do not see a drop off from Angerer to Freeman. We should be fine here.

    2. Brown- He has done a great job of bouncing runs to the outside when nothing's been open. Ballard will have to carry the load and there may be some drop off here.

    3. Vontae Davis- In my opinion, when he did play, he wasn't outstandig. There will be some drop off, but maybe not much. If Davis was at his peak, there would be a great drop off, but based on his recent performances, not much.

    4. Mathis- This is where we may see the most drop off. Hughes has to prove that he can step in and be "the next man up."

  5. It seems ridiculous to think that Reggie can keep up his pace. But when you watch this team, it's clear that Luck trusts Reggie completely. And it's obvious that he doesn't trust the other guys in the same way, even his boy Fleener. Unless teams just start lining two corners up against Reggie, with his ability to come across the middle and Luck's single mindedness in throwing to Reggie, it's going to be interesting to see if Reggie can challenge Marvin's 143 catch season. Rice's 1848 yards will be tougher but we'll see.

There's no doubt that Luck has great trust in Reggie. He's already had a 100-yard game and now a 200-yard game. But Avery and Hilton have also had 100-yard games respectively this season. So Luck is able to find other receivers when Reggie is covered.
  6. Sanchez gives the Jets their best option of winning. I'm not scared at all if Tebow was their starter, however, if he comes in at times during the game, it's an added personnel grouping that we have to worry about. Tebow this year is not as explosive as he was last year. He's put on a lot of muscle wight and has lost some speed and shiftyness.

  7. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I think what makes this last game even more remarkable for both Reggie and Luck is that Charles Woodson was covering Reggie almost entirely man-to-man. Luck did not shy away from throwing at Woodson, and Reggie showed that he can get open against anyone. The Packers put their best defender on Reggie and he still had his best game ever. Gotta love it.

  8. I think it was on Mike & Mike that Arians said he's worked with Manning and Roethlisburger during their rookie seasons. He said that he did not go with a no huddle offense with them becuase he felt that they were not ready as rookies to handle the no huddle. He is amazed that Luck is ready to handle a no huddle as a rookie and was initially willing to wait until our O-line was more stable. We have had different O-line personnel every game this season thus far. Arians felt that that may continue, so there's no sense in waiting since Luck and the team are now ready.

  9. Our offense has faced good defenses and good pass rushers in Julius Peppers and Jared Allen. We were still able to produce touchdowns and points against those defenses. I don't think that the Packer's defense is any better and I think that we'll be able to move the ball and put up points. It's our defense that has allowed too many points, so I see this as being a good effort by our offense but too mcuh firepower from the Packers for our defense to hold up.

    14-31 Packers

Luck has shown that he can elude the rush and keep his eyes down field to find open receivers.

  10. Let's be realistic. We would need a miracle to beat the Packers. We are more likely to get blown out and embarrassed than we are to win. After that near surefire loss, we have 5 cupcake games. If we can play like we did the first half of the Jags and Vikings games, we should have a 5 game win streak, putting us at 6-4.

@NYJ- No Revis, now no Holmes, leaving whoever they start at QB to throw to last years 6th round pick Jeremy Kerley, and this years 2nd rounder Stephen Hill, who hasn't caught a pass since the first game of the season. Could be a nice game to boost confidence.

vs CLE- Do I really have to explain? Weeden is bad even when his receivers hold on to the ball, their D is struggling, TRich can't do it all on his own, and they're 0-4. By the time we play them they should be 0-6, with losses to the Giants and Bengals.

@TEN- Struggling D, no pass rush, bad OL, CJ0K, Locker and Britt are hurting.

vs MIA- Reggie Bush will be hard to stop, but the Phins have nothing in the receiver department, and Mathis should ruffle up Tannehill. Their D is bad, and they need to adjust to their new 4-3 scheme.

@JAX- Revenge. We lost that game, they didn't win it. We play like we did the first half, and keep the pedal to the metal, and we should win.

After these games, things will come to a grinding halt as we travel to Suxborough. After that, however, we have three very winnable games, hosting Buffalo, going to Detroit, and welcoming Tennessee to our turf. Reminder, I am not predicting we win all of these games, I am reminding us that their are still clumps of very winnable games, and I hope we can pull off one major upset. Beating NE would be nice. Very nice.

This is shaping up to be a very exciting and interesting season. I agree that we have a shot to win all of the games that you've mentioned. However, just as we look ahead to playing teams like the Browns and the Dolphins, they've marked their calendars with a W when they see they're scheduled to play the Colts. We haven't proven that we can win, yet. This stetch of winnable games could change our perception!

I would also like to add that the Dolphins D has been really good and the only reason why they've been in some games- with the exception of the last game where the offense really stepped up.

  11. interesting stat I saw on my twitter feed from ESPN concerning Griffin and QBR

"@ESPNStatsInfo Robert Griffin III leads NFL in comp pct (77.3%), yds/attempt (14.7) and #TotalQBR (97.3) against 5+ pass rushers this season."

Regardless of people's perceptions of him and his offense (or even the accuracy of those perceptions), the kid has been as poised and calm as any rookie QB I've seen in years - and I've watched him closely this year as well as all the studying I've done of Luck the past week. Right now, this instant, I'd say Griff is the better QB. Ask me that in a few months or next season, and things may change. The general consensus has always been that Griff has the higher ceiling, but Luck is more pro-ready and the prototypical pocket passer. Whether or not Griff reaches his ceiling is another question. But based on only 4 games (3 for Luck), I have to say that I'd take Griffin. Ask me again after the season and we'll see.

**none of this is a knock on Luck :)

Griff has been playing lights out. I will give him all the credit in the world. He looks very poised, not just as a rookie, but overall as a QB. The Redskins have done a great job of creating an offense that utilizes all of his skills, and Griff has many.

But if we are to compare Luck and Griff, we have to take several factors into account. Of all QB's in the league after three weeks, Luck had the highest percentage of plays where he faced pressure. Higher than any other QB in the league according to NFL statistics, (can't find the stats at the moment, but it was provided on another thread). We are also ranked among the lowest teams for rush yards, while the Redskins have one of the best. We all know that a good rushing offense is a QBs best friend. This means basically that Luck has to carry the Colt's offense, while Griff has the luxury to play his role in the offense. This is not a knock on Griffen, as he has performed brilliantly. Nonetheless, I always find myself asking what would happen if they had switched teams?

Everyone speculated that Griff would have the better rookie season because he would join a better team. I think that's what we are seeing, but perhaps a little more than expected from Griff.
