  1. What has me excited is that I see some *potential* similarities with the Packers team that won the Superbowl a few years ago. They had so many receiving options and a mobile and accurate QB. Also, that year, they had a good defense.

I think with the improvmements that we are seeing on offense, including improvments in the run game; and hopefully with more additions to our defense, we can be just as deadly. I can't be more excited about this team.

  2. At the beginning of the season, I thought that as the offense progresses, we would show more balance with our passing/ball distribution. Early on, Luck relied heavily on Reggie Wayne and it made it a little easier for defenses play against us, although both (Reggie and Luck) were still very successful.

Recently, with the emergence of guys like Avery, Hilton and Allen, and now Brazill and Fleener once again we've had a more even ball distribution among our pass catchers. Considering the last game, Brazill scored his first TD, as did Fleener. Avery scored twice, and all of this makes it harder for teams to focus on just one guy. To me, this signals growth both for Luck and our receiving corps. We have speed and good hands now all over the field. How are teams going to defend against us now?

  3. I am very excited about our TEs. In fact, I am very excited about the potential that we have on offense with so many talented rookies: Fleener, Allen, Ballard, Hilton, and Brazille. I'm looking forward to seeing what Whalen can do next year.

I don't understand why people seem to always criticize Fleener. Because he was chosen in the second round, he's now supposed to be better than or as good as Gronk, Hernandez, or Graham. It's ridiculous.

  4. I know this interceptions hurt especially if you are in the hunt for the playoffs but thats what you get if you are playing with a rookie QB! That by the way has no running game and an inconsistent offensive line. He makes some bad decisions from time to time but he will improve through those mistakes. And as I mentioned before Manning in his rookie season had 26 TD and 28 INT.

all good points and we understand, however, just becauseManning had 86 INTs doesn't give Luck a "free pass" this year. He still needs to play better, and most importantly, the freakin' O-line needs to hold up better!
  5. We've faced the Bears, the stout Bills D-line with Super Mario, the Vikings with Jared Allen their tough D-line, the Packers with Clay Mathews , the Dolphins and their solid D-line/ front seven, etc.. We'll adjust and be fine.

I'm sure the Lions are worried about Frathis.

Every team has their strong points. The Lions still give up a lot of passing yards, and I expect Luck to be stellar as he has been all year.

  6. It's not learnable, he's either got a strong arm or doesn't but with D all they need is check downs and mid range passing. Also the timing sucks IMO. CK has a higher ceiling but comes with higher risks as well, he hardly has any experience at this level.

Joker, you and I agree on many things, but I have to disagree with you here. It is learnable. Take for example Drew Brees, who doesn't have a very strong arm but can make all of the throws. He's learned to properly read coverage, anticipate throws, and work on his timing. Manning doesn't have the strongest arm either, and by the way, Alex Smith has plenty of arm strength, which he's demonstrated on some deeper throws to Vernon Davis. It's just that he's gun shy, doesn't trust what he's seeing and always opts to play it safe and check down. It's a good strategy, but perhaps not what Harbaugh is looking for as the Niners continue to improve. He may want somenone who can add a dynamic that they've been missing-- a down field passer.
  7. I feel bad for Alex Smith, he's put in a lot of work , only to have CK ride his coat tails into the playoffs. But who knows CK might have a big let down game soon.

I see what you are saying about feeling bad for Alex Smith, but really, he wouldn't be benched f he learned to throw the ball down field. I live in the SF Bay Area and have a family friend as an executive in their FO. I watch all of their games, (my wife is a Niners fan) and I would call Alex Smith "Captain Checkdown" because that's essentially all he would do. I'm sure Frank Gore is gonna miss him.
