Not used to seeing a moderator of this board doubting Colts upper management .

Not doubting, but I think they're choosing their words very wisely, & just reading between the lines, I get the feeling that he'll likely miss all preseason action. My guess is he'll lightly practice a few times during camp, but save himself for full team drills until the week leading up to the regular season opener, which is when he'll likely be a full go.

At this point I won't be surprised if we don't see him until the 3rd PS game, if that.

It'll be interesting to see if he's back at practice by the time the joint practice with the Browns rolls around.

At this point, I fully expect him to miss every preseason game & only practice sporadically leading up to the season opener, a la Peyton Manning in '08 with the whole bursa sac saga. This thing isn't going to heal in 3 days, let's be realistic. I'm just concerned that in similar fashion to Manning, our offensive chemistry will take a few games to come together, & a couple of headscratcher losses in otherwise winnable games will be the result.

Three days is not a lot of time for recovery if the injury is more serious...

Right? A lingering 3-month calf issue is just going to magically heal if he doesn't practice the next 3 days? C'mon, I'm not a doctor, but I wasn't born yesterday.

I haven't heard anything about the guy since he was drafted and the Colts were moving him to corner. Any news on him during camp?

He's a 5th round pick that's buried on the depth chart in one of the deeper position groups that the Colts have, so news on him will probably be somewhat minimal. I did see something saying he was doing well at gunner, but nothing about his reps on defense.

I think the jags will be our toughest division  obstacle.  Their defense seems to have our number and foles is a solid qb. Josh Allen looks like a monster pass rusher for them.

They always seem to get themselves pumped up for Colts games, & manage to steal one almost every year from us, kind of similar to the way that the Dolphins manage to win 1 vs the Patriots every season. But regardless of that, that team has 7-9 written all over it, & that won't be enough to challenge for the division title.

I bet you all the FB Colts fans are saying this. Luck is going to have bad days, like he's going to have bad games. It's not worrying at all. Also, this was only 7 on 7 and within the redzone.

Just yesterday a guy on Facebook was saying we need to move one from Glowinski because of his 5 penalties for 45 yards in 2018, apparently that's just too many penalties for a right guard. Naturally I had to ask him if we should upgrade at left guard as well since Nelson had 9 penalties for 75 yards. I'm still waiting to hear back.

Eh, I don't think there's a rift between Peyton and the Colts. He just seems to enjoy spending time around the Broncos organization quite a bit. I think that's the long and short of it.

    He lives in Denver.

Honestly in terms of trade's I think I would rather just run with Turay than invest in Clowney.  I would maybe be interested in giving up a 4th rounder for Clowney, but not much higher.

He's on the franchise tag and if someone wants to get Clowney they are going to have to pay him.  And because of how he is being looked at, and being a former #1 overall pick he's probably expecting a market setting deal or at least something in line with what Khalil Mack is getting. (Mack is getting 23.5M per year)  But Mack's doing double digit sacks every year but his rookie year.  Clowney hasn't hit double digit sacks yet in his career.

He's not worth the pick or the money to me.

Also consider next year's draft is suppose to be really good.  I'd rather give Ballard the pick in a really good draft class then take the pick away and get a good but not great 26 year old player.

I am generally skeptical of trading first or 2nd round picks away.  I think the Trent Richardson trade left a bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah I honestly don't think he sniffs what Khalil Mack got, & as far as the Colts go, best case scenario would probably be to give up a 3rd or 4th round pick, keep him through this season, then let him walk & get a comp pick next offseason. It's a contract year for him, so that scenario could be a win for everyone involved.

This dude rushes the QB opposite Watt and still hasn't managed to get more than 10 sacks in a year.

Don't get me wrong, 9 sacks a year is a good number.  But it's not special.

Yeah, you'd definitely want better production out of a guy you used a #1 pick to get, but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Never going to happen. I love Clowney as a player and he's the only guy I fear on that Texans defense. He wants a long term contract and wants to get paid but injuries have always been his downfall. The Texans aren't foolish enough to trade him to Indianapolis and Ballard isn't giving the Texans what they want for him.

He hasn't missed more than 3 games in a season since his rookie year, & he's been nominated to the Pro Bowl the last 3 seasons. That's not to say I'd want Ballard to give up the farm for him, but his injury history isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be.

This is a excellent read. Makes you really want to pull for him. He came into the league so young I hope he can finally put it all together. This sounds exactly like the Ebron story in Detroit. A young kid who just needs to mature.

I only watched 2 episodes, but the one thing I noticed about Funchess was when he laid out that safety who took that cheap shot on Cam Newton when he slid. I like that, a lot.

I don’t think it is a issue to go from a 3-4 to a 4-3. It’s harder to go the other way.

Yes the Texans are really trying to screw him over out of a small amount when you consider a 150 million salary cap. They are a mess.

Yeah I don't know why we wouldn't want him. He's been to the Pro Bowl each the last 3 seasons, he's a solid pass rusher, & he's about to hit his prime. Acquiring him wouldn't be cheap, & the likelihood of Houston trading him within the division is probably pretty low, but all that aside I'd be happy to see him in a Colts uniform.

The Texans are not going to trade Clowney inside the division lol.

Who would you trade though. Maybe give up your first round pick next year.

    https://www.nflchatter.com/2019/07/16/6-teams-show-strong-interest-in-texans-star/

"Although it is believed the Colts have made a call to the Texans regarding Clowney, GM Chris Ballard has proved to be a bit of a hoarder with assets, so he won’t be sending off a boatload of picks for Clowney, and Houston would much rather send him outside the conference, much less the division. Still, the Texans literally don’t have a GM right now, and their path forward is unclear.

As odd as it may seem to the rest of us to keep Clowney in the division, if all they want is to get something for Clowney, it’s a real possibility."

That's an awful lot of fluff just to essentially say "Ballard may have reached out, we really don't know though. Either way, it's technically not impossible."

Oooh this makes me scared lol I kinda like it better when we don't have expectations

Eh, I'll take it. When no one's talking about us, we complain that we're not getting any respect, when analysts are calling us a top team in the AFC, we prefer to fly under the radar. We can't have it both ways.

I get it. Everyone loves Ballard and I like what hes done so far but lets not act like Grigson burned Indy to the ground.

Well if Grigson didn't burn Indy to the ground, it sure wasn't from lack of trying. 6 years of draft picks, 0 All-Pros, & on 1 (debatably) defensive player that actually made an impact. We had a nonexistent rushing attack, & he almost singlehandedly ruined Luck's career by failing to put together some semblance of an offensive line. On top of all that, he's responsible for Deflategate, which was maybe the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to this organization & the fanbase, & it came on the heels of a 45-7 curbstomping against New England, which only made it worse. The (3) 11-5 seasons were fun, but at the end of the day, they were nothing more than fool's gold.
