I'm not sold on Castonzo this season, but he's not a bad LT.

Per PFF offensive line rankings after 3 games.

    https://www.pff.com/news/pro-pff-nfl-offensive-line-rankings-following-week-3-of-the-2019-nfl-season

    4. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

    Highest-Graded Offensive Lineman: T Anthony Castonzo, 79.1

While Quenton Nelson grabs all the headlines and highlights for the Colts’ offensive line, the man to his left continues to fly under-the-radar. Anthony Castonzo has consistently been one of the better left tackles in the league over his career and has only allowed four pressures on 111 pass-blocking snaps this season for a top-five grade among all tackles.

It was working in the first half. I just think the colts put their foot on the break and played a more prevent defense.

Playing the corners 10 yards of the LOS on 3rd & long will always be a headscratcher to me, & that seemed to be one of the main halftime "adjustments" on Sunday.

Yea been disappointed  about his usage as well. Though his snaps have increased,  but he still hasn't  made the impact I feel he can. He should be making plays like DeMarcus Robinson  from the chiefs.

He missed the entire training camp & only played in 1 preseason game, so it's probably going to take 4-5 games to get him fully up to speed to the point where Reich feels comfortable with increasing his workload.

So that is why I was confused yesterday

I went back in & tried to un-merge, I didn't have any luck.

I think you merged the wrong ones.  My Brissett thread got merged with the Hooker being out thread, probably meant to merge this thread and the hooker being out thread

    Ah, I think you're right.

So does our PS now outscore our first team in practice?

    PS... Italics is sarcasm font

Just hope he understand the opportunity presented and doesn't have another knucklehead moment.

I honestly don't think it matters, IMO Kelly's the new Philip Walker. And barring injury, Jacoby is the starter for the remainder of this year, no matter what. If, upon evaluation after the season, they feel Brissett isn't the long term answer, I fully expect that they'll draft someone.

To me this thread is coming down to the fact that it is obvious you LOVE Ramsey but (to me) it is obvious (by reading this thread)  that there more than a few COLTS fans who will never want anything to do with Mr, Ramsey . And it does seem that neither side has any interest in changing their point of views. .

I don't love Ramsey, I do like the idea of having a cornerback of his caliber though. I know he's a bit of a diva, which I do find annoying, but outside of a few instances within the Jaguars organization, his record is clean. No off-field or legal issues, & his playing speaks for itself. I know there's a multitude of reasons that he'd never be on the Colts, but I don't really see the harm in talking about it.

I always felt that getting those Falcons' LBs in space was well exploited in the SB by the Patriots with James White. The Falcons LBs and safeties are good at clogging the middle for slot pass catchers, so getting your RBs in space for catches and YAC will be key.

Also, our outside wide outs running comeback routes will get us key completions to move the chains because their safeties roll well to prevent deep balls but give up completions underneath due to the way Dan Quinn's defensive system works.

Have to be able to run the ball to control tempo at game, goes without saying but holding the ball trying to hit someone in the middle might be tough/disastrous because how well they clog the middle, look outside the numbers for RBs and WRs in this game. They mostly rush 4, tackle well and play good coverage.

    Thoughts???

Eating clock & keeping that Falcons offense on the sideline will be crucial, so you're probably onto something here. I could see them working that gameplan in the first half then going to a more traditional rushing attack in the 2nd once those LBs back off the LOS a bit.

Why would Jerry dump a former first round draftee after two seasons?

They had to make a roster spot available for Robert Quinn's return, & Charlton was the weakest link along their front 7 by far.

No he's not.   His NFL career has been much better than Kelly's.

Kelly hasn't really had much of an NFL career to speak of to be honest. I'd personally like to never hear the guy's name again, but that doesn't seem plausible.

At the time, Brown did not have more baggage.

Ramsey rolled up to camp in an armored money carrying truck.  I think that was a subtle signal he wanted to get paid too.

Reggie Wayne pulled up in an Indy car... I understand where you're coming from about the money, that was kinda tasteless IMO as well, but Colts fans saw plenty of over-the-top training camp entrances during the Manning era.

Oh I wasn't even going that deep honestly man. I just was commenting on how there's so many lies in sports reporting.

I don't care either way, they're all liars to me.

My angle was simply most of 'them' lie, them being beat writers and sports media guys. I don't even know much about this guy. I guess the local folks would know more.

I like Holder, he gets a lot of grief on here & on Twitter for his non-sports takes, but I'm not going anywhere near that rabbithole.

How do you know he quoted him verbatim?

I’m going to venture to say that Mathis and Vinatieri speak to one another. Is completely unimaginable that Vinatieri told Mathis, man that’s not what I said at all.

2 media members with identical quotes from the same player, I'm not sure how much more cut & dry it could be.

Holder is garbage in my opinion. Many other reporters who Im sure get paid a lot less go more in depth and seem to have more know knowledge than Holder does.

Also I have seen many times where anytime someone disagrees or argues with Holder he pulls the race card. He needs to get over himself.

    *Rant Over*

    More in-depth than this?

Almost all media is trash nowadays. I don't believe the majority of what's put out there.

They guess and hope to say 'see I told you' in the end. If they're wrong they can put out a 'my source tells me it didn't happen because (insert another lie here)"....

How do either one of these statements apply to what Holder said in his tweet re: Vinatieri? He quoted him verbatim, what more do you want?

CB: "Hello David!  This is Chris Ballard.  How ya doin?"

DC: "Hey Chris!  Good to hear from you.  What's up?"

CB: "Hey I heard you were shoppin Jalen and I was just curious what ballpark we're talkin here.  What do you need in return?"

DC:  "Well, right now we're looking for 2 1st rounders and maybe a <click>……….Chris?  You still there?  Chris?  Hello?"

I think they're putting that (2) 1st rounder talk out simply to narrow the list down to see what teams are actually serious. They have to know that there's no way they're getting 2, it's likely a 1st & 3rd, or 1st & a player that gets the deal done.

Would just Reich the chance to go for it more often on fourth down if he thinks it is out of the kickers range lol.

Maybe, but to piggyback on your point even further, would he consider going for 2 after TDs now instead of PAT? If you convert, it's 2 points, if not, it's no different than Vinny doinking the XP.

     I would HATE this deal:

    give up draft capital

give a division rival a QB with a lot of potential

trade for a guy who is not a fan of playing zone, can’t keep his mouth shut and disrespects authority

    PASS

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. He's an elite player,  & we play more than enough man coverage on the outside for him to be effective, & Doug Marrone is a *, so it was only a matter of time before one of their start players lashed out.
