Yeah lol, how can you say you would have drafted Yates if you didn't take Ijalana. Ij was in the 2nd round, Yates was in the 5th. More Polianspeak.
I'd rather not have given up the Ijalana pick, or the Nevis pick, but Carter is just an average back and Yates may have proven more valuable.
What exactly did Polian say about Yates?
If he had Yates spotted as a 6th or 7th rounder, and would have taken him then, if available, then I see nothing wrong with his statement.
But, I didn't hear the comment.
-
BP seems to be the best evaluator of talent after the fact. Dalton and Yates are starting and playing well and now he says, "Oh, I was going to draft them but someone else beat me to them." By the way, I thought Chris Polian was the the GM and making the drafting decisions but apparently BP is still at the helm.
Your first sentence just isn't true, or at least the way you present it isn't truthful.
I don't know about Yates, but he made same comments about Dalton last summer.

If Peyton's back to normal next year....a shut down CB.
-
If the Broncos make a miraculous come back and fall 7 points short, I suppose it could be argued that he's about as good as Orlovsky.
-
Strictly from a Colts perspective, I'd have to say Baltimore.
-
Us, for one... Brady would tear the Patriots' secondary to shreds, lol...
And the Bucs, and the Steelers, and the Browns, and the Bengals. Just off the top of my head.
Plus it didn't need to be Brady. Any competent QB could have done it, but we don't have an active one right now.
-
So we complain that we built a team and a strategy around one player's strengths: those belonging to Peyton Manning.
Then the Broncos do the same for Tebow.
It's bad to build around one player's strengths when it suits our argument to fire everyone. It's good to build around one player's strengths when it suits our argument to....fire everyone.
Can't have it both ways, folks.
I suppose that mindset isn't particular to some Colts 'Fans'.
The same is being said here in Chicago now that Cutler is gone.
Makes me laugh.

CUT HIM
I'd pick him up.
We need a decent back up for Manning......................jk
-
Good ones.
So, what'd the score be?
-
So we really have a 3 game cushion with 4 games to go?

I love it when nooBs do this.
Does my presence offend you somehow? If so, I will be sure to post here more often, just for you! :yay:
You do realize one of this board's moderators is a Patriots fan, right? There's a few of us who go back to the old, old, old dot-com. I don't know if you're offended that there are Pats fans on a Colts board (gasp! the horror!) or if you're 12, but either way, I'd encourage you to be a little more open-minded. All football boards have a population of vagabonds and stragglers from other teams.
Yes, you've been around forever, but I've got to ask you: Do you prefer 'vagabond' or 'straggler'?
Both sound pretty catchy.

Apparently, there's two kinds of people in this world........
Those who love him....
Those who don't care either way...
,and Mahagga.
O.K., make that three.
-
He does not seem to be the sharpest knife in the droor either.
I can't pretend to have heard him speak all that often, but haven't yet heard anything to suggest this.
You must have a pretty well stocked drawer.
Having said that, at least I don't see or hear him beating his own drum endlessly.
At least he hasn't coined his team 'the dream team'.
Also, I really wish people would stop referring to them as the Denver Tebow's.
Not here, but I hear it all too often elsewhere.
It's annoying, and doesn't help the case.
-
Not that I'm advocating this, but curious to know if there are any ex-Colts players out there in the coaching ranks (coordinators, assistants, position coaches, etc).
-
Death once had a near chuck norris experience ^
That's good
The most interesting man in the world.
-
How come your a Tebow hater if you don't praise him?
I really don't care about him either way, but getting really tired of hearing about him and all of his supposed 'accomplishments'.
He's got plenty to prove, and is already deemed a savior.
The Tebow love is just way over the top with many.
-
Of course they can't beat any NFL team.
I also doubt they're serious about it.
I just think it's funny.
-
I think even if we had super heroes on the team, they would probably still find some way to get injured. Iron Man would short circuit himself, the Incredible Hulk would have an aneurism, Superman would probably leave kryptonite in his pocket and Spiderman would suffocate and comatose himself with his tight costume.
I think only Chuck Norris and Tim Tebow could make it though an entire season.

Born, raised, and lived my whole life in far NW Suburban Chicagoland.
Been a fan since '64-'65.
Been to a handful of games at the RCA Dome, but haven't been to the LOS yet.
Hoping to go again in the next year or two.
Love Indy.

Jeff Fisher (although I doubt he would be able to co-exist with the Polians), Bill Cowher (same reason as Fisher), Brian Billick (Defensive minded, but getting up there in years). It could be anyone of these guys. All are great defensive minded coaches. They've all lead teams to the playoffs and to the Super Bowl (Fisher being the only one who lost). They all could come in here and clean house on defense.
Of all the names out there with head coaching experience, Brian Billick is my choice.
However, he's not defensive minded.
Well, I shouldn't say that as I don't know him at all personally, but he went to the Ravens from being the Vikings OC, and a very successful one at that.
-
Fisher, mike martz(Clayton mentioned his name, I would like Ron Ryan but highly doubt it
If we're unwilling to change defensive philosophy, I doubt we're willing to change offensive philosophy.
That takes Martz out of the picture, which I'm happy about.
-
was referring to said link, as far as Polians show only seen transcripts that said it on varying sites
Thanks Bayone.
I'm more with MAC on this, and even with the 'so called' controversy that's ensued, I really don't see where this is a big story, even if the press were being completely honest with all of this.
-
I hope u read the transcript & not just this side topic
Are you referring to the Phil's blog linked in your original posting in this thread?
Yes, but that tells you nothing.
I'm not as concerned over what Peyton says there, but more in Bill's radio show, where he made those comments.
A recording would be better then a transcript of that show. Is THAT available anywhere?
If you're not referring to that link, please point me in the right direction.
-
Until I hear the entire interview in which Bill made (or didn't) that statement, I don't really care about this topic.
Nor am I concerned about it.
If the entire controversy is whether Bill is a liar or not, I could not care less.
Oh no, someone lied to the press =:o
Every player knows they can't play forever, and that the team needs to prepare themselves to replace them when it's over.
Bill will bring in Peyton's replacement when he sees fit.
I don't see Peyton as being one of those players who doesn't understand that.
Beyond that, who cares.

That all sounds reasonable.
I don't see the issue.
