I don't think there are really any standout FA available at the positions we need. I think Logan would be a great interior anchor, and keeping Walden and adding Simon makes the edges harder to run around. Get Langford and Anderson back at a high level and I think the run defense is in good shape. That's where the defense is elevated.
Disagree about Barnett. I'm not head over heels in love with him, but I have no problem with him as a Rush prospect in a 3-4, and a couple years down the line he should be a nice pass rush threat. Not Khalil Mack, but a 10 sack guy, yes. And he has a high floor.
Let's assume Switzer is available at #200. I've seen most people have him between 170-220. I don't think anyone can say for sure that he will or won't be there.
also Barnett's not a liability in the run game either.

Obi and Reddick have been the stars of this combine in terms of athletics.
does Obi have the tape to back things up like Reddick does?

RB Verticals
Dalvin Cook 30.5"
Christian McCaffrey 37.5"
Alvin Kamara 39.5"
Leonard Fournette 28.5"
yeah that's pretty alarming for Leonard

What about Lawrence Phillips with his 23 on the Wonderlic? Basically the same as an electrician, bank teller, and firefighter...
I would have guessed -50 for him on the exam. LOL.
yeah that has me scratching my head some lol

That reminds me of Tyrann Mathieu with 4 reps.
I'd say he turned out ok

For the sake of discussion, I've been seeing some mocks where the Colts got either Cam Robinson or Ryan from Wisconsin.
I personally don't think they need a RT with the potential of Clark etc.
But I was wondering what the reaction would be if the Colts did go this route, especially with what Ballard saying that if everything was equal he'd go with the trenches.

With Poe most likely becoming a FA and the issues with David Parry, I will make a prediction, we will sign a top tier DT in FA. Whether it be Poe, Hankins, or Williams, I truly believe Ballard has his eye on someone.
we're going to be finding out here really soon in the next week and a half or so.

Even if Poe doesn't end up in Indy, it helps saturate the DL market just a little more. Hopefully that helps keep contracts down to a point that is more digestible.
very true and I'm thinking the Colts can get one of either Poe or Brandon Williams

hmmmmm things could get interesting, especially with the Colts officially having about $53 mil in cap space.

becasue our running game still isnt good
the reason gore doesnt get more carries is his snap count. a young back wouldnt have that limitation
and someone like Cook could turn those 7-10 yrd carries Gore had into 20+ yard carries because Gore doesn't have his explosiveness anymore.

To me it's going to depend on who's available when the Colts pick. If someone like Thomas or Foster is available as well as Cook, I'd have a hard time selecting Cook. But if the elite D prospects are off the board and Fournette and/or Cook are there, I'd take them in a heart beat.

I think the LARGER point here would be playoffs. We know teams with really good offenses can win in the regular season, but how many win Superbowls? Especially ones with poor defenses? Not many that I can recall. In fact, the only one that comes immediately to mind is the 2006 Colts.
Improve the defense and the Colts' chances of competing for a Superbowl go up.
true, but in those playoffs the Colts D played like a top 5 D.

good reason to improve the D
and that's an insane stat no matter how you put it.

I do know that the last parts of the season Morrison was actually starting to make some good plays in the run game. Still not great in coverage but I think he could at least be a decent contributor to the team going forward.

I would much rather have Solomon Thomas over Barnett.
if Henry Anderson is back to 100% and the Colts pick Thomas just imagine how much havoc they could cause.
And they could conceivably have an all Stanford front 3 Anderson, Perry, Thomas.

Was she mad he missed the hole?

or maybe using him as LB in certain instances and safety at others......good to have flexibility. Could be situational.

I see no reason the Colts couldn't make an Atlanta type turnaround this season. But, even if they nail the draft, you usually don't see those fruits until the 2nd season on, but you never know.
Some good Colts RFA news here
