Man to be honest I’m jealous.

I wouldn’t say I’m jealous, but they are living the dream.

I met a man and his young son in a hotel pool in 2022 before the chiefs game in Indy. It was his son’s first chiefs game, as his dad wouldn’t take him to arrowhead until he was older (lol). Lifelong chiefs fans living the dream. One of the nicest men I’ve ever met. I thought about them a lot last night, wondering how excited they were. Since that day, they now have experienced two superbowl wins. That boy doesn’t know what he has yet. What a childhood.

, if Mahomes has an injury and doesn’t play another 5 great years, it would be a moot argument for all of us. That’s why I said he needs to maintain his level for another 5.

the best ability is availability. What Peyton, Tom, Favre, Rodgers, Brees all have in common is longevity. If Mahomes plays for another decade without missing many games, he has a legit chance to separate himself entirely, almost to the point that no one will ever compare. The difference is that they are all retired (or soon to be) and he’s 28. He’s got a lot of football left, so you can only judge what he’s done, not what he could do.

Kyle Shanahan has just had the misfortune of running into Brady once and Mahomes twice.

Peyton Manning had the misfortune of running into Brady and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs too.

Didn’t stop people from questioning if he could ever get it done. I’m not dogging him by any means. I believe he’s one of the best offensive minds in the history of the game. He had some questionable decisions last night, as does everyone. But my stance is that he will only get more reliant on Brock Purdy to win a championship. That’s the “window” that I see. It’s not saying they have a window to win one, they very well might next year or down the road. It’s that they have missed the opportunity when it was in front of them and nothing is guaranteed in this league. Tom Brady sat for a decade without a championship. Pat Mahomes could do the same. I like Brock. I think he showed a lot this year. As I watched last night though, to me he’s a product of a system. That doesn’t mean he’s not on his way to being great. It just means that he has a great offensive mind at head coach and a ton of talent surrounding him, so there is currently an unknown of what it will look for him when the surrounding talent isn’t as strong (and it inevitably will be.)

There will be zero major question mark on 49ers if they fail to win Super Bowl this year.

"Is the 49ers' title window closed? Why this latest loss should have them questioning everything."

I take nothing away from the 49ers. My original post was regarding if they didn't even make the superbowl, which they not only did, but were literally a play away from winning it... and at several points of the game. However, I still stand by my comment of having question marks. I don't think Purdy is the big question anymore, although he is not Patrick Mahomes (no one is.) I think it's simply if they can get over the hump with Kyle Shannahan, who everyone will point fingers at. I don't see their roster getting better than it was this season. We can argue on that until we are red in the face, but it's an opinion that I can point to data on the ages of the backbone of the roster and simply ask "do you expect them to not decline? and how are they going to replace these guys with better talent?"

People jumped down my throat on this forum for making a simple statement, as if it hasn't been posed by plenty. I also stated it would be a major disappointment if they didn't "make the superbowl." Guess what? They made it, and they are even more disappointed by not winning.  "We've been so close so many times that it's only so many more opportunities that we have," Bosa said on Sunday.

  5. I digress. Congrats to the chiefs organization. I wonder if Ballard wishes he wouldn’t have ever taken this job and collected the rings there instead…

    signing off.

It’s hard to be perfect as a play caller, sometimes the better players execute better. Niners D had a chance too and Mahomes drove them down with 8/8 passing.

I really thought he was going to do it end of regulation. When they settled for the fieldgoal in overtime, I said “uh oh.”

Ballard has shown beyond a doubt that he knows how to build a chumpionship roster, and Gus is waiting and waiting and Yada Yada Yada to learn how to mix it up. This is in my notes anyway.

the only championship roster I’ve seen lately is the one that drafted Pat Mahomes…

It would really suck to get injured in the SB then have to spend all offseason rehabbing.  Being so close to the season over.

I used to be a BW3 fan until they stopped their "Daytona" style and replaced their grills to be able to do burgers.

So I learned how to make my own.       I am pretty much the wing guy to all of our friends now.   I'd put them up against anyones wings

    even against Big Grove?

Wow !! I'd like to go to Brent's house too. He had to drop at least a 100 for 100 wings.

Sounds like he has quite a spread !

@2006Coltsbestever, can we all just show up to Brent’s tonight? Tell him to up that order to a thousand and we’ll bring cash.

I'll be at home with the wife making air fryer wings.

I have found getting take out wings is really expensive and the wings are small.

I bought some large wings at the grocery store and going to try some Facebook wing recipes.

Rooting for the 49ers, can't stand the chiefs.

I'm concerned the game is going to be a blowout as I think Purdy is going to melt under pressure.

What is the over and under on how many times the camera shows Taylor? 50 ?

    Wings are getting expensive…

I don’t see it a blowout in favor of the chiefs, although I’m not betting against them. I think it’ll be close, as the chiefs are going to have their work cut out against this defense, who I think will be the best side of the football in this game. Chiefs defense has played exceptionally well this season, and I see no reason for them to not be able to limit the 49ers offense, at least enough to give Reid, Mahomes and Kelce an opportunity to win.

As much as people don’t like talking about him, something is to be said about Travis Kelce who made 3 of the best catches I’ve seen in a conference championship two weeks ago. I expect a big game by him tonight, regardless of the outcome. Whether you like it or not… 😀

Chris Ballard is too smart to make that kind of move - both for the team roster - AND - for the salary cap!!

You think that an upgrade at wr1 for maybe $6-8 million more is a bad move for the roster and salary cap? If you are talking about Diggs- then it would be very doable, and possible even with signing Pittman. The Bills would be on the hook for $31 million of dead cap space. We wouldn’t necessarily be tied to Diggs except for year to year, but have his rights.

The character is one thing- but I can’t imagine this locker room wouldn’t welcome a top receiver in the league to elevate the offense at a clear weak spot.

If you are talking about Justin Jefferson, then it’s the same concept, except for more money, meaning pittman for sure walks. We would have arguably the best receiver in the league and locked down longterm at the age of 25 years old. I don’t know what some might think of that, but I wouldn’t care what we sent pick wise to have AR, JT, Jefferson and Downs on offense for the next 4-7 years or more.

I don't blame the fans for boo'ing at all.  The news was announced while the game was happening.

I didn’t boo. But I understood the frustrations. I didn’t believe it when it started pinging across phones throughout the stadium. It was such a strange experience. The buzz from the stadium. We were sitting there staring at a report that said he was retiring, and he was standing right there on the sideline chumming it up with teammates. It was just a bizarre situation.

Houston was able to be aggressive because the browns made a terrible trade for watson

Yeah, draft position matters when trading up. I would argue they were able to be aggressive because they got their qb as well. And now that they know what they have at qb, they will certainly be very aggressive.

Which is my point. I’m not sure we can sit and watch the new division king be aggressive without looking to match that aggressiveness. It’s a window with a rookie contract. Ballard’s made that comment of the flexibility it gives for you to be more aggressive. So he’s set the stage. I’m a Ballard fan. But if he doesn’t follow through with that statement, and continues to stay the course, especially while Houston elevates, then I will quickly jump off board. I expect him to be aggressive this offseason. Likely not to the level of trading for Justin Jefferson. I can see resigning Pittman and drafting a receiver being the path, and wouldn’t necessarily be upset about it, so long as he was aggressive in other areas of the roster.

Who would you like to trade for?

Jefferson. Whatever it takes, imo. Especially if I were Ballard. Break the stigma that is associated with you. Realize you have the rookie qb deal, and have been prudent. Highlight your strength in drafting, which is mid to late rounds by forgoing the picks at the top for a couple years, and go big. It would be signaling that they truly believe in Anthony Richardson and the makeup of the offense. They could have a dramatically altered roster by the time April even rolled around if he felt he had one shot at being aggressive. Of course Irsay would have to sign off, but I can’t imagine Ballard couldn’t pitch it. It’s just a matter of if he buys it, which is probably unlikely… But I wouldn’t take many chances of not taking some risk if I were him.

AR, JT, JJ, Downs, Pierce- a strong o-line that took a big step forward

it’s a better offense than we’ve had in a long time… I would hate to sit back and watch Houston continue being the aggressive ones.
