  1. God, wife, Colts, nachos, burgers, and beer. Best day ever created.

  2. My wife almost every year gets me colts tickets for my birthday, so thankfully, it's late september, so it's actual real games. Unfortunately, this year, they'll be in SF on my Bday. I was kinda crushed to hvae such a good matchup, just to have it away. Congrats on the engagement by the way. You got decades of tough work ahead of you, but it's worth it if you both give everything you got.
  3. Over/under - 115 players busted in the first 4 weeks.
  4. I gotcha. And I mean, the bottom line is, if there's the demand for pre-season tickets and people are buying them for 80 bucks or whatever, there's no incentive to reduce the prices. I get the business part of it, but from a logical standpoint, I sound stupid when I say that pre-season games are the same as regular season games, so the price should be the same.
  5. Yeah, I won't argue that. And when people have to part with money, you're right, obviously not everyone's going to be happy about it.
  6. No. Too expensive. Hopefully in a few years, though.
  7. The bigger issue for me is that it can have the propensity to persuade young recruits. Say that if you go to School A, this a card dealer will buy autographs only from star players, but you'll get $100K over the course of the year. But, if you go to School B, a different card dealer will buy starters autographs, but you'll only make $25K per year. I don't mind schools competing for kids, but not by asking them business decisions like this.
  8. If I'm not paying full price for pre-season tickets, then how come when I go to the box office for one pre-season game they charge me full price?
  9. . If I had a nickel for every time I've got caught...
  10. I would argue that if there was one fault to Polian as to why we didn't win more titles, i'ts because our defenses were built to play with the lead. When we played teams with stout Ds, like the Patriots in the playoffs, the Steelers, etc., scoring was a bit more scarce. Then our D had to go into attack mode, and it wasn't good enough to do that. Manning had the tendency to force throws when behind, and the ending writes itself. There are several reasons why we didn't win another superbowl, but I wouldn't say we underachieved, and the short plain statement of the reason is that, the orga
  11. It's not so much that he's going out looking for reporters to bash Belichick. It's reporters coming to Welker asking him the same questions over and over again. I feel for the guy, and I understand the business decision. But he's not really telling us anything we didn't already know about Belicheck, and i'ts not like we know football players don't take crap from their coaches and don't like it.
  12. Yeah, choker goes to far, I suppose. It was more of the message than name calling. He came up short would be a better way to phrase it.
  13. And those are faults that you can put on Polian. And I'm not saying that we shouldn't have won more superbowls, I jsut dispute saying it was an underachievement. Some element of winning superbowls is a little bit of luck, sometimes its getting hot at the right time. And while you cite Manning's consistency getting us into playoffs, there were far to many games where the lead or comeback was lost because of Manning. Love what the guy did for Indianapolis, but I don't think I'm alone when I say that I think Manning choked quite often in the playoffs.
  14. Superbowls are hard to come by. Should we have won more? Maybe. But to say winning 1 superbowl is an underachievement is not really an appropriate criticism. How many teams DIDN'T win a superbowl during the manning era?
  15. Both guys are solid. In terms of body frame, you'd rather have a guy like DHB be your #2 WR. But your size doesn't mean much with dropped passes. I know a lot of people on here are complaining about the 5 drops in practice, and it is a concern. Maybe he had a bad day. He's also had some really good days according to Chuck Pagano - http://www.footballnation.com/content/darrius-heyward-bey-continues-to-impress-colts-camp/23788/. I wouldn't throw the towel on him yet. The guy has the potential to be a very good #2 WR, and if he delivers, we'll have one of the best, if not THE best, WR co
  16. Neither were particularly good drafts. 07 being the worst of the two. But when you miss on your 1st and 2nd round picks, it will tend to bring the draft class down quite a bit. As Albaby said, Hindsight is always 20/20.
  17. Thanks. And I agree with that as well. But like most of us acknowledge, as I'm sure you do, it's pre-season game #1. Even if Mathis usually doesn't make that mistake, there's still some cobwebs. There's always a difference between practice and games, even if it's pre-season. So I'm confident Colts will be just fine. BTW, why do they have this stupid post restictions? Is it unlimited after I get my 10 approved posts or whatever?
  18. Like you said, Polian and Dungy set a tone on the team. The reason he's more visible might be because he wants to be more and involved and the Colts seen as his team, not Polian's or Dungy's team (or in this case, Grigson and Pagano). Could be as simple as that, could be more complicated. I don't think he's doing it for malevolent reasons or anything. And I certainly don't think he'd do anything to sabatoge the team (minus 2011, maybe...but I'll never admit it publicly). But I saw enough of his tweets during the free agency period than I ever cared to see, not to mention all the "ne1" and
  19. I think your first intuition was correct. The way it starts out, the G and T on the strong side double the DE pushing him out and opening a hole and then G releases to get the MLB that's on his inside (the desired effect being that he pushes him toward the middle of the field. This is the same for the weak side LB, except by virtue of being the weakside LB, the G on the weakside is in perfect position to seal the WLB off. At this poitn, all the guys in the box are blocked (FB-Mathis coming soon). The reason it works is, as the zone blocking is designed to do, is open up cutback lanes. The
  20. This is really not that big of a deal. Does he have a right to get angry with his coaches? Absolutely, he's the owner. Did he need to take it to Twitter? No, but you post at your own risk and it makes him come across as a bit childish. But it's hard to take him seriously when we never heard a peep about how awful we did in the pre-season when the Polians were here, and now all the sudden, it's time to get amped up. I get that he fired the Polians because he "wanted his team back," for lack of a better description. Polians were running everything and Irsay just sat back and let them do t
  21. If anything, it'd be good to have some perspective from someone else. Maybe I'm grading the guy too hard because I am one of the guys who wants Walden to do well. It's ironic how I defend a guy that everyone picks on and I'm the harsher critic, lol.
  22. No, don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree with you on the setting the edge bit. He was not to blame on either of those plays. but what I'm tlaking about, in the pass rush, is watch the play where EJ Manuel rips off 25 yards or whatever it was. He ran so far up the field and took himself out of the play. Then, if I recall correctly, a play or two later, he did the exact same thing and opened up another hole in the pass rush again. I don't remember how that play panned out and I can't watch it because I'm at work. He's great at setting the edge, but I worry about when we play teams like
  23. No, I did. But I don't think you understood my post. I very clearly said, "for the first team reps, there was much more positive than there was negative" and then talked specifically about the first team except for Williams and then very clearly said "out of our first team reps, we probably graded out..." Backups didn't look good, but it's the backups in a fake game. If you are looking for quality football, you shouldn't be watching anything past the first quarter in the pre-season. They are back ups for a reason.
