  1. :blueshoe:   Does the rivalry between the Colts - and - Patriots have less significance now that Andrew Luck is our QB - instead of Peyton Manning ??  :blueshoe:

Considering Brady may retire in 2-3 years and Luck may peak around that time or later, it may not be a major rivalry in a couple of years. Interestingly all the other good young QBs are in NFC and Luck will not have a rival unless maybe Texans take Johnny Football?

  2. No defensive game plan is going to work by itself. For Pats there is nothing much to learn from that weird game in November, except for not turning the ball over (same to Denver). If they want to have a good plan, learn from Charger's wk15 game at Denver: Win time of possession, convert 3rd downs, and end the long drives with TDs.

  3. True. But he has stated that the New Colts should be formed much more like the Patroits. And he have just witnessed how they can win. He is not going to be satisfied with Peyton Manning Era Playoffs Part II.

I'm not saying that the new direction is better - I'm a huge Peyton fan - but I sense that Mr. Irsay demands a big change.

Be careful what you are wishing for. I am looking forward to his solutions to one of the most obvious problems in football for a long time.

BTW Owners can demand what they like to see since they own the teams, but they could easily turn themselves into Jerry Jones. I feel Mr. Irsay is on the edge now. It will take time to show whether his demand on Trent Richardson as a "quick solution" to Colts running offense is a good one or not, but at least for now Browns got the upper hand from the trade, which for them was very rare considering how many dumb things they have done. Dumber than the Browns? I hope not.

  4. If I were Hamilton I'd never leave for Vandy since Luck is the present and future of NFL and it will be more rewarding to be his OC in the crucial years of his growth, while Vandy in SEC is more likely to go down after James Franklin leaves.

For Kubiak he may have some good ideas on run offense, but obviously he has no idea how to develop QBs. The key for today's NFL is QB unless you can afford to be bad for a few years to pile up defensive talents and good OL DL. When you have Luck the answer is easy.

  5. Yeah, it looked like he got his sensationalism out of the way first. Then, he took his not so subtle jabs like "not that I am saying this" but then why even bring it up, is my point.

To finally make it seem like he wants to keep it in perspective, he wrote this:

Put another way: On Saturday, Brady and the Patriots were better than Luck and the Colts. It's not an indictment on Luck's abilities or his future. He had a bad game. It happens.

If he really meant the above that I italicized, he would have prefaced his article with that, not put it down at the end like a consolation prize. At least that is how I see it. He was definitely all over the place, as if wanting to give something for everyone and appease them, those on the Luck's side of the fence and those that are on the fence.

That would be something I expect from Brad Wells, to be honest, lacking thoroughness and consistency.

I think the article was not very well-written but the point he was trying to make finally was Luck made some typical mistakes by young QBs and his team was not good enough to beat Pats, which I think everybody agrees. And we all know Luck will only get better.

It was much more irritating as some people were comparing Tebow's one playoff win with Manning's zero with Broncos before he won last weekend, and I am sure some people will bring it up next Monday saying "Manning has 1 win in two years, while Tebow has 1 in one year", had Manning lose to Pats this weekend.

On the other hand some people were comparing Luck with Michael Jordan, which to me was even more ridiculous. I believe Luck has the potential to become one of the greatest, but he is still a very young QB and needs time to grow before he can be compared with the greatest of all time.

  6. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24409102/coach-killers-week-19-lucks-poor-performance-raises-questions

I really lost it when he said this:

And this latest performance brought out the skeptics, many whom questioned whether we've made too much of Luck's abilities because as it stands, he has one playoff win (just like Tim Tebow!) in three tries.

Did you finishing reading the entire article?

  7. Great move..

.....If they can get millions or people watching to connect Peyton's Omaha  calls with Omaha Steaks..

that's  millions of dollars of free advertising for what?    44 by 500...$22,000 ?

....the only problem is: What if Peyton starts shouting 'Papa Johns"  'Papa Johns' !!!! :D

Eagles defense did shout "Papa Johns" to "disrupt" Manning in their game at Denver, but they still got blown out and Manning did not even play the 4th qtr.

  8. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/15/matt-leinart-warner-not-whisenhunt-got-us-to-a-super-bowl/

Matt Leinart, probably can't face the fact that he failed as a top 15 draft pick with the Cardinals, it seems like. I am even more disappointed that he chose to take this shot at coach Wisenhunt.

Yep, Wisenhunt had absolutely nothing to do with the Chargers' playcalling this year and winning, hmmm...

I think Leinart might have a point. If teams believe they could depend on Wisenhunt to develop a QB they might be on a wrong track. Kurt Warner and Phillip Rivers are well established veterans and it would require less to revive them than to start a new QB project from scratch. After Warner Wisenhunt did not have any success at Cardinals. This time in Tennessee it could be bad again since Locker is never a good QB.

  9. Peyton loyalists always throw everyone under the bus when his teams lose.  It wasn't anyone else's fault when Peyton threw that pick 6 against the Saints in the SB.

As Troy Aikmen said himself, the 2011 Pats D is the worst D he's ever seen make the playoffs.

Anything to do with Peyton Manning? I was talking about Colts bad run defense after Manning.

  10. Maybe I should just call him the little tough guy. ;)

Considering this little guy almost single-handedly carried your passing game when your Gronk, Amendola, and Vereen were all on the slideline and the two rookie WRs were running everywhere and shouted at by Brady, you need to get his name right :)

  11. Not sure what they would get for Gronk this off-season given he will be rehabbing and teams would figure he is damaged goods as why else would the Pats move on from him? I think they are going to stay with him until 2015 when all of his big bonuses will kick in. If he is still injury prone at the point then I think they look to rework his contract or trade.

Much may depend on how Blount performs Sunday and in the SB if the Pats make it. If he continues to be the main reason why they are winning then I agree that his stock will rise and may make other teams offer him big money.

lol on Endleman. It is Edleman. Not sure why I keep typing that extra "n." It seems to me like his name should be spelled that way for some reason.

Still wrong. It is "Julian Edelman".

  12. "But no Keenan Allen this time as well. Don't see which Pats receiver can cause that much trouble."

If Dobson and Thompkins play then it's bad for the Broncos.  Patriots' D as of now is a better D than the Broncos' D.

OK but I only know Keenan Allen is a candidate for rookie of year, along with Eddy lacy, Gio Bernard, Alonso and Patterson, while neither Thompkins or Dobson is on the list. And Thompkins had one catch last week?

But you are right they are still capable of making some damage if you completely ignore them.

  13. And the Chargers came to life when Chris Harris left the game.  No Harris in this game.

But no Keenan Allen this time as well. Don't see which Pats receiver can cause that much trouble.

Same as you I think the running games of these teams will have larger impact on the outcome of the game.

  14. Heat is on every player not to make any turnovers.

Denver had 8 dropped passes at San Diego game. Peyton was 25/36 after the dropped passes.

    2 turnovers ( Fumble and INT ).

Decker gaffed an onside kick which essentially is a turnover.

If they do the same against Patriots, it will be a long day.

Patriots had one mistake the entire game ( the safety play ).

I think they will learn from the game and going to take care of it. Good news is Moreno and Ball are on fire. Offensive Line is on fire.

Lof of people questioned Denver against Chargers and i see the same against Patriots. They will be fired up.

Yeah they missed a lot of opportunities. And Decker had another stumble on the way for a punt return TD, which eventually caused a fruitless driving ending up with Manning's INT to him. I was thinking they should run on 2nd and 3rd downs, and at least get a FG if they could not punch it in. In playoffs all pts count.

The amazing thing about Bill Belichick is he almost never let opportunities slip away. They do not shoot in their own feet while Denver do at least a couple of dumb things every week.
