  1. We need an intervention. Seriously, it's very necessary. I'm thinking something along the lines of Steve Young and Jerry Rice giving Matt Stafford a lesson in style. AL just needs to learn how to dress, talk and carry himself with a little swag. I don't expect him to turn into RG3, but even Peyton has his own little "play it cool" type of confidence.

When he wins more games and big games he will get more media exposure and thus more confidence.

  2. I think after the Raven game, Champ may be tested deep more, esp how he noosted and failed to back iut up how he will shut down Raven recivers like in first Raven game during the season,

Good " AWARE " safety or quick big 1 on 1 corner needed

Good MIKE who can cover TE's as Broncos had trouble with that all season

BIgger Power RB for 3rd dwn & blocking, Moreno good but injury prone, Mcagahee aging and fumble issues last year , hillman good change of pace but cant block

A DT that can piush p[ocket to help dumervil, thats why article I posted was intersting, get freeneyu back into a 4-3 as DE & move Wolfe back to college DT position

a line with Freeney Wolfe & Doom with Von Miller as OLB is intriing and both DT's that started are free agents, they sould stop run usually but couldnt push pocket in

OL depth and can Kuper stay healthy

Champ did not shut the WR down in the 1st meeting while instead Torey Smith got injured in the 2nd qtr and they then threw an INT for a Denver TD. In the 2nd half they pretty much gave up throwing to the WRs instead they attacked the middle with the TE Pitta catching 2 TDs.

  3. Every corner gets beaten sometimes. And AJ Green is a great player, and it's challenging to stop him for everyone. It also can be a product of not having good pass rush.  Bengal's O line is pretty good.

But yeah, you are making me worried. I know he is not going to play forever. We need to have a back-up plan. I just don't think it's Revis given the money he's going to get paid.

The ideal solution is to find a young corner that can play man-to-man coverage from the draft. The current CBA will allow you to keep him for at least 3 yrs with low price. I just dont know if there is one in this draft class and if he can fall into the 30th.

To be honest even Chris Harris is not a real starter and rather he should play nickle back. The secondary was burnt every time the opponent was able to go deep. But well not many teams have the luxury of owning 2 capable corners.

  4. Like I said, Champ played really well aside from the horrible game. I honestly don't know what to make of it. It's possible he will decline dramatically next season. It's happened before.  But I also don't think we should overreact. I figure getting a young player is far more preferable solution. We also don't know what we have in Omar Bolden yet.

Did you watch how he was burnt purely be speed by Bengals AJ Green? Not even close. Just one yr ago he was matching step to step with Steelers Mike Walace, but his yr he was 2-3 steps behind Torey Smith in the playoff. For these old veterans one yr could make a huge difference.

In NFL the best chemistry comes from making big plays and winning games. And as chaotic ans Jets are I seldom hear the problems are coming from Revis.

  5. This isnt a crucial criticism..but why does everybody start their analysis of Luck by saying 'he's a better athlete than you think!" or "He's a better athlete than some give him credit for"

Who is 'you" or 'some' ?

I've never heard anyone say Andrew Luck isnt athletic. He makes offense (and unfortunately defensive) plays from sideline to sideline..

Its somewhat of a 'straw man' to say that some dont consider him very athletic. I think everyone who has seen him does.

Most people think Luck is less athletic than RGIII since they were compared head-to-head, but indeed he might be a little less quick and illusive but he is way stronger and much more durable.

And talking about speed and other specs. on paper he is actually very comparable to Cam Newton.

  6. That's probably the the one change I would make, but he's really on the fence between the two groups, so I really don't have a problem with it.

Cam Newton finished the year really well. He got out of his slump about halfway through the season, he didn't have the best supporting cast either. I think Cam Newton will really shine this next year, they need someone to support Steve Smith too though. I understand the reasons for both rankings, but I would put him in B for the time being. It'd be hard for me to say Russell Wilson or RG3 are a whole grade better than Cam.

In the sense of making smart football decisions and winning games when it matters, Cam is far behind those in Group A and B. Of course he is talented, but we can say Matt Stafford is at least equally talented and he even made the playoff last yr.

  7. I'd agree with you on those points.

I was curious because the Broncos, unlike the Colts, have everything they need to win a Super Bowl on their roster right now....and bolstering the secondary is probably their only concern, once Clady is re-signed.

But I could also half-way understand if they did pursue Revis with the idea that even at 90% of his old self...he'd all but insure another 12-win season and the AFC West crown.

It'll be interesting to see how Elway plays the Revis situation if the Jets do indeed put him out for trade.

I would not doubt their making the playoff with 12 wins no matter they have Revis or not. But if they want to go deep and win the big one their secondary is really leaky.

  8. Good question. I don't want to overreact to that one game Champ played poorly this year. He was great for the most part. And Chris Harris emerged as a great young starter. I feel that Revis is probably not the right answer. He is going to want a lot of money, which will give us much less flexibility in the future. Also worried about his knee. I would much rather find another Chris Harris. We have a reasonable amount of money but we have to resign Clady and he is going to be expensive. I would rather draft a corner and move Champ to safety if necessary. I think we can win with this team pretty much as is without sacrificing the future.

Revis will be a very expensive solution so it will be ideal if you can find a good fit from the draft, but if there is no good prospective CB options you may have no choice. I don't think Champ can play man coverage nowadays since obviously he just no longer have the speed to keep up with young WRs now and he may be a good safety. Then you will really need another starting CB that can do 1-1 man coverage, which is very hard to find.

  9. just one rule I learned from Denver post article sent me , FYI , not being critical nor saying it was a game changer, just passing on something I never knew

it was illegal that the FG kicker of Ravens did a full practice FG kick on the field between the uprights between the 2 OT's but its not a penalty for it

EXPLANATION, its illegal but u  only get  a penalty call if the ref saw u starting to do it, warned u  not to &   u did it anyway, if ref doesnt warn u and u do it no penalty , so ref has to be watching the field at the time and warn u off before its kicked, if u sneek in and do it without a warning its OK penalty wise , just ilegal but not punishable

    Weird

If they were penalized and thus lose the game I believe the football world would go crazy. But it was fine for me since these Broncos should try earning themselves a noble win.

    Take care of yourself.

  10. You know the sad thing is, this Colts team that over achieved all year long held Baltimore to less points than both the overrated super awesome defenses in NE and Denver.

I think they got this right. It's going to be a close game. Flacco has not played an out standing defense yet. He's just waiting to throw a pick. I think if the Niners win, it will be from Kaepernick, and a very close game. If the Ravens win, it will be from turnovers. I'm taking Frisco by 5 in this game.

Colts game should not be used as a measure since they really did not score that many pts to win. Colts for the entire game struggled to score and they already felt pretty safe at the end of 3dr qtr.

When facing Manning and Brady they just either had to score or could not feel secure even with a 2-score lead.

  11. I always wanted a tougher Bronco sched at end as was afraid was too easy & not being tested going into playoffs

also I wwonder how much Mcoy can tell & help chargers about Bronco weaknesses and  offensive tendencecies  unless strategy really changes

team has 18 nmilluion in cap space but 17 free aagents, 7 starters, both DT's and LT CLady, now clady will cost $

Their division does have plenty of talents but generally lacks good coaching. I think chargers will improve, but watch out Chiefs may become a force even more quickly.

Denver's cap space should allow them to give Clady a nice contract, and it is not like their DTs are irreplacable. Others I dont think are that crucial. They do need to improve the secondary though.

  12. Manning puts tremendous pressure on his teammates then gets pouty faced when they don`t do exactly what HE WAS THINKING.

Then he gets hit a few times and its over.

    Wash, Rinse...

His Huge and disproportionate $alary will begin tearing at the fabric of the team. yada yada yada

2nd ranked D and two KR`s for TD`s and, We are only a couple players away from DOING IT next year. Chuckle

Their salary structure is still healthy and they can even afford to have Revis, so Manning's paycheck is not relavent. When they have to deal with the issue Manning could have retired.

The regular season 2nd ranked D in the playoff did blow the coverage for 3 big times.

To some degree I do agree with you that Manning needs to change his playing style somewhat to allow others to contribute more, including game plans by the coaching staff as well as more diversified play calling. if all plays are going through one person the system is just too vulnerable. We'll see if they can do something interesting this summer.

  13. The team is intact....needing few changes...

....If they can just add some depth to protect against injuries (at WR and in the O-line) they should make the

    playoffs again this fall..

..the RB injuries hurt..and they lack speed on offense.......but a loss like the one to Baltimore isnt inspiring...

The secondary is pretty weak in my opinion. Texans and even Bengals burnt them badly this yr and finally Ravens. If you build this secondary based on Champ Bailey being able to hold onto himself then it is really time to make some changes. Perhaps you should pursue Revis.

  14. Yeah, my feeling at the beginningn of the game was that they looked really tight. I think they put a lot of pressure on themeslves. Then when a lot of things we counted on didn't work (pass rush, pass protection, Champ), they didn't adjust quickly enough. Even so, we were one freakish play away from winning the game. I kept thinking it's 1996 all over again.

Then I will like it since it means two Super Bowls coming next :) If the team IS that good then they will bounce back stronger.

  15. It was not only useless but probably harmful. I really hope AFC west would be stronger next season. It really didn't help us to beat on the *s.

When you need a easier schedule to make the playoff or improve the seeding you may not say the same thing :) But indeed if they can really learn the lesson they will become even stronger, and it's not like the Broncos was not as good as their record showed - Actually if we call Ravens the best team in AFC, which is very fair at this point after they essentially manhandled the Pats, Broncos almost never trailed in that game against them and most of the time took full control of the game on both sides of the ball. But when they really need that "killer's instinct" to finishe the game, like what they showed in the 2nd half of the wk6 Chargers game, they did look very rusty.

  16. Yeah, we were relatively lucky with injury department this season. I should stop expecting them to win it all and just appreciate each moment.

Regular season winning streak and the so-called "momentum" is generally useless, unless they have a shot at a perfect record, or need to play until the last week for a better seeding. If teams set the goal as winning the Super Bowl they should allow the players to take stretches for a deep January run.

  17. Given how confident I was, and really all of Denver was, it's not surprising how it turned out in hindsight. I know they did their hardest not to buy the hype, but it was not possible.  It was heartbreaking to hear that Joel left the field in tears and Von was unable to move in the locker room for full 30 min.

I really believe in this team. With a few tweaks around the edges, they will be great. We have money and direction. And this pain will be a good thing ultimately.

I believe learning how to deal with tough losses and bounce back from them is a necessary lesson for good teams to 1. understand their weaknesses reagardless the win-lose record 2. prepare themselves mentally 3. throw away the slef-content from long winning streaks. Teams that can take the lessons in regular season could have a strong playoff, like the 06 Colts, 07 Giants, 10 Packers, 11 Giants, and 12 Ravens. Young teams tend to fall more often after a long winning streak.

  18. Fleener was not healthy for a mojor part of the season so people may not see how good he is, but it is understandable that Colts brought him in as Luck's security blanket. Now the Stanford OC is here and you will see how much more they can do.

Again numbers are numbers and it will come down to the execution. When you really don't have any reliable WR other than an aging Wayne I don't blame them for drafting athletic and versitle TEs in the early rounds.

  19. "I think you've got to play every year as if it's going to be your last," Manning told me Wednesday

Maybe Peyton should stop playing like that. It doesn't seem to be working for him. haha

It reminds me Manning's face when he entered the Super Bowl stadium in 09. He looked so intense and it looked like playing football was a huge pain :fear:

  20. This is exactly the mentality in which I felt the team was playing. Even when they were ranking the 3rd in the conference I was saying the young team needed to play in the wildcard round instead of having a bye week since they did not have experience dealing with a bye week and they needed a relative easier playoff game to warm up. The team came out prepared physically but was pretty flat mentally, especially on the defensive side.

Still think they missed a golden opportunity this yr but if they can really learn from the lesson they could be very dangerous next yr since unlike the old Colts team having holes here and there this Broncos team is way more complete and talented.
