  1. I'd be okay with Hayward but he's gonna have to play primarly in the slot, and we already have Darius there, so there would still be a gap outside. If we really want to solidify the DB's then I guess we could do something like:

    Sign Hayward in FA

    Draft:

1: Trade back for William Jackson III or select a Pass Rusher or Nose Tackle and gamble that theres a good, big outside Corner available in rd. 2.

If we can't get the type of pass rushers we need out this draft we might as well stack up on DB and DL!

The most dynamic players in this draft appear to be at both positions.  I'd definitely grab a pass rusher, but I'd make sure I grab a double helping of DB and DL or maybe ILB.

Exactly what I was thinking. If we're not happy with any pass rushers available at 18, we could just pick up a DL (Reed/Billings) and grab Jackson in the second.

    A draft looking something like

    1: Billings

    2: Jackson

    3: Pass Rush/OL

With the assumption of a pass rusher added in FA that would be a good looking off-season.

  3. Why resign Allen over Fleener? Allen was a ghost last year. Also, I think you may be understating some contracts Harrison and Hayward are in for much bigger paydays than that. I love William Jackson but doubt he'll be available in the 3rd.

I absolutely love Spence though. Would be a tremendous pick, I am scared his value is gonna sky rocket in the pre draft process though and we'd have to trade up for him. Overall, decent Off-season. I'd be happy with it.

  4. Hey guys! So The off-season is officially here and It's time to start thinking into the future so I'll drop my first mock of the off-season! In this mock I really tried to focus on building up a solid pass rush, that aspect of out defense will help every other group, and our pass rush has been lacking.

    Opening Cap: Approx. 19.8 Mil

    Cuts:

    • Andre Johnson, WR (2.5 Mil dead, 5 Mil savings)
    • Trent Cole, OLB (1 Mil dead, 6.1 Mil savings)

    Trades:

Bjoern Werner to any 4-3 team for a late round pick (6th?)

    Re-signings(Cap: Approx. 33.2M)

    Jack Doyle (1 Year/1.1 M)

Depth Signing, decent run blocker and can fill in as a fullback in a pinch.

    Dwight Lowery (1 Year/ 1.3M)

Lowery was a decent starter this year, bringing him back to me is a toss up, on one hand I do want to hand the starting role over to Clinton Gaethers but on the other I don't think he showed enough for it last season, I'd bring Lowery back and let them duke it out at training camp.

    Billy Winn (2 Years/3.3 M - 1.65/Year, 577k G'd)

Depth. Winn played pretty well last year and proved stout against the run.

    Coby Fleener (4 Year/24 M- 6/Year, 10 M g'd)

To me, it comes down to pick one between Fleener and Allen. To me it's Fleener, and pretty easily. Fleener has been improving as a blocker every year, he is clearly a better fit with this organization.

    Jerrell Freeman (3 Year/18M- 6/Year, 7.5 g'd)

Freeman was one of the best  surprises this year. He came in as a "meh" very inconsistent player, just another guy. He really turned it around this year though. PFF has him rated as the #2 ILB for the season (only under Luke Kuechly) he is 29 though, so I'd be weary of signing him to anything longer than a 3 year deal. I'd also structure the contract so it's very front heavy so if his production drops down closer to the end of his deal we can get out of it.

    Adam Vaniterri (1 Year/2M)

    Bring em' back!

    Matthew Hasselbeck (1 Year/2M)

Many ups an downs as a backup this year, but to his credit if he had a half decent OL infront of him, his life would of been much easier.

    Free Agency: (Cap: 13M)

    Kelechi Osemele (4 Year/28 M - 7 M/Year, 14M g'd)

Osemele could be a fantastic addition to the Oline, he's a big physical player who is a dominant run blocker, pairing Osemele with Mewhort could do wonders for our OL going forward, they are both tremendous run blockers and above average pass protectors. With that inside tandem many more holes would be opened for Gore than ever before. Osemele ranked 13th of all OG's this year, all while only playing 10 games. If needed, Osemele could also shuffle over to OT if an injury arises and we need someone to fill in.

    Nick Perry, OLB (2 Year/2.5M - 1.25 M/Year, 1M g'd)

Perry has struggled and disappointed since being drafted in the first round by the Packers. He has though flashed pass rushing potential and could show his potential if given a change of scenery. Perry is a perfect rotational player to add to the arsenal.

    Patrick Robinson, CB (2 Year/5M - 2.5M/Year, 1.13M g'd)

Robinson played very well for San Diego last season, he posted a +5.7 PFF grade, which ranked 28th among CBs. Robinson only had 1 interception, though he did flash potential and looked very good in a banged up SD secondary. Robinson is only about 5'10, but he high points the ball well and at 28, still could have some potential yet to be found.

    Terrance Knighton, NT (2 Year/6M - 3M/Year - 2.1M g'd)

Knighton signed a 1 year "prove it" deal with Washington this off-season, he played very mediocre and his impending free agency will be very interesting. I don't think he'll get anything more than 3 million annually, and with his weight concerns, I don't think anybody will be willing to offer him a long term deal. Kinighton is a big body and an above average run stuffer. We would be a very good destination for Knighton as he wont have to play tons as we'd be filtering Parry in often so we could keep them both fresh.

    Draft:

    1: Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia

Floyd is a good combination of speed and physicality as a rusher. He consistently got pressure on the QB at Georgia, though he only tallied 4.5 sacks but he got much more pressure on a consistent basis then that stats reveals. He's also got tremendous bend off the edge, his 40 time should be key at the combine. He is extremely athletic so it shouldn't be too challenging. Floyd should add a bit of bulk to reach his full potential in the NFL. Floyd would be an excellent to the Colts pass rushing rotation.

    2: Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama

Kelly is a smart player, with high Football IQ. Kelly stands at a good size for a C at 6'4, 304lbs. The forty time will be key to tell if he has the athleticism that could make him special. Kelly can come in right away and compete with Thorton and Harrison for the starting spot. If we give Kelly some time to develop he could be a special starter for years to come and would solidify the interior of our OL with Osemele and Mewhort.

    3: Paul Perkins, RB, UCLA

Perkins is an extremely tough runner. He's got great vision and can make something out of nothing. When he hits a hole he hits it extremely hard. Perkins can cut it out at any moment. Speed may be a concern with Perkins though, he's instinctive but sometimes lacks the speed to finish runs. If he can run a sub 4.48 40 I'd call it a win for Perkins. He can take some time and learn from Frank and eventually start/be part of a committee at the RB for us.

    4: Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn

Coleman stands at 6'6 and is very powerful. He uses his length well in combination with his power, especially in the run game. Coleman does have an awkward base though, he struggles with speed rushers around the edge in pass protection and is a work in progress. If he's given a couple of years to work on his pass protection he could slide into the starting lineup at right tackle.

    5: Marquez North, WR, Tennessee

North was a highly recruited WR coming out of high school, as a top 10 prospect. He's got tons of talent and is a physical monster, but he's been dealing with knee issues and has missed nearly half his games the past 3 seasons. If North can put it all together he could be a special talent. But this pick is a flyer.

6 (Via. Werner): Justin Simmons, S, Boston College

Simmons had a good week at the East West Shrine game. Simmons looked like a stout tackler who had good instincts and moved well. Simmons could be a special teams contributor for the time being and we could see if he'd progress into a rotational DB.

    7: De'Vantae Harris, CB, Texas A&M

Intelligent kid with slot CB potential. Good athleticism but footwork needs lots of work.
