  1. I think they are trying to keep Bradshaw healthy. The two back rotation is working fine. No need to mess with it.

They can keep Bradshaw healthy without starting Richardson. The two are not synonymous

  2. Satele vs Shipley

    McGlynn vs Reitz

    Richardson vs ... anyone, really

Who won those depth chart battles?... See a trend here?

I would hope the coaching staff would start the best player, regardless of level the of investment... but looking at how they've handled things in the past and the present, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. To their credit, they did bench Richardson last season in favor of Donald Brown.  However, they continue to start him this year when Bradshaw is obviously the better back at every phase of the game. Seems like they're more concerned with giving 'their guys' every opportunity to prove that they were right, rather than playing the guys who give us the best chance to win

  3. Breath...relax.. and try to enjoy the games then over grade a player... you might see something...

What does this even mean? Please stop replying to me if you're not even going to attempt to address anything I've said, or answer any of the questions I've posed.

I don't hate Trent, and want him to succeed as long as he is a Colt. I've been mostly quiet on the whole issue until recently. I'm just over the excuses for the guy. He is who he is, and I'm not going to look at his game through rose-tinted glasses solely to appease this forum

  4. So the fact that so far he's improved over last year, and seems to be improving each game doesn't mean anything to you?

He is who he is. What has he improved on, in your opinion? He has more running lanes this year, I'll give him that. Does he still dance in the backfield? Yes. Does he still have limited burst when he takes a handoff? Yes. Does he still have problems with his vision? Yes. So what is he doing better?

He seems to have a better grasp of his assignments on any given play. I guess that's something, but that has nothing to do with his abilities as a ball carrier. He is solid in pass protection and he's adequate as a receiver out of the backfield. Those are things we already knew about him. The things he's been criticized for since the start of last season are still surfacing today. I just don't see a noticeable amount of improvement in his game to call him a weapon on this offense yet. Right now he's a change of pace back being thrusted into the starting lineup solely because of what was given up to acquire him. I agree that Bradshaw needs to be paced, but I disagree that Richardson is the guy that should be doing it, let alone starting in front of him

  5. "End of the discussion in the 5th game of the season"...Thanks for clarifying the intelligence I'm working with..

So a full season, a postseason and 5 games isn't a big enough sample size to form an educated opinion? People still holding out hope that he doesn't turn out to be a complete bust of an acquisition for us are likely doing so because of some sort of emotional attachment, at this point. The jab at my intelligence might've actually hurt coming from someone who could do more than just look at a stat sheet to form an opinion

  6. I am definitely not trying to stick up for Richardson and his play in general - but this is a very bad example if you are trying to show a Richardson mistake. Look at your own pictures - do you not see number 25 waiting to make the play if Richardson bounces outside? Are you saying that rather than Richardson stay with his blockers (2 of them were not even engaged and one of them was engaged with a raven blocking him) you think he should have bounced it to the outside where there was a completely unblocked Raven waiting to make the play?

    Hindsight is so sweet.

If I'm a 230 lb running back with a one-on-one with only a DB on the outside 5-10 yards down the field, I'm going to take that free 5-10 yards (at least) every time. Even more so when one of my lead blockers is engaged with the other teams best tackler, and my other blockers are a few steps behind me. I understand what he was trying to do (wait for blocks), but you don't cutback into the opposing team's best tackler in that situation, especially when the next closest defender is 5 yards away from you. Go watch the play again for yourself. Pictures don't do it justice for how poor a decision it was

  7. Again, your points mean nothing just like mine..

You, me and everyone else is a "arm chair GM"

Except I'm actually providing evidence to back my opinion. You can label me an "arm chair GM" or whatever else you want to call me. The only thing I see is you can't really explain why you feel my opinion doesn't hold merit

  8. Geez another arm chair GM.

What happen to all the other runs where Richardson averaged 4 yd a carry?

He actually had a really good run where he bounced it outside a few times and made something out of nothing. He wasn't as horrible as he normally is this game, but he still left quite a few yards on the field yesterday. And the problem is, the number of 'meh' runs far outweigh the 'wow' runs with him, and that's a problem.

I also find it funny how some of you apologist shift your argument according to what little you can use as evidence. Many of you in here have drove the "YPC average doesn't tell the whole story" argument into the ground, yet here this guy is using YPC to justify an overall underwhelming performance yesterday. As someone else said earlier, Trent is "just a guy" at this point. The only people still in denial about that fact are people on this forum and the front office/coaching staff

  9. ya I did......... in person. How many times does a qb roll to the right and come back to toss  the left? you cut off half the field rolling out.

If it's a designed rollout, I'm pretty sure it's done-so to where the numbers are in our favor. You cut off half the field but you have 1 against 2, or 2 against 3. Or if you clear receivers to the opposite side of the play, you have a one-on-one with a winnable match-up. The few times we ran it yesterday, it worked. So what exactly are you complaining about? Nobody cares that you don't like a play simply because you don't understand the function of it

  10. More Trent awesomeness:

Here, the play is designed to go to the right, as apparent by the location of the hand-off. There appears to be solid blocking on that side, with one lane and one bounce-out opportunity clear as day. What does the "bowling ball of butcher knives" opt to do, you ask?

Yeah, that's right, let's cutback to the side where there's an unblocked defender

Even worse is how easily he was wrapped up by a DB for the tackle. The guy is 230 lbs and is supposedly strong, but runs with about as much power as a geriatric with a walker. He's always upright when he runs and never naturally runs aggressive, lowering his pad level

But it's all the offensive line's fault, I forgot ...
  11. Harrison clearly looked superior as a blocker in this game than any game I've seen from Shipley or Holmes this season. He had a few hiccups (that comes with being an undrafted rookie free agent starting in his first professional football game) but he had a pancake block on the Bradshaw fullback run, he constantly held his blocks to completion in both pass pro and run blocking, and he (along with Thornton and Louis) moved well in the screen game, even though the backs didn't get any major yardage off the plays, but the blocks were there. I think it's clear Harrison is probably the best prospect of the 3, having a good balance of strength/size and mobility.

I'm fine with the change. The line should only improve as he gets more reps and when Mewhort returns to action

  12. I would really like to see these great RBs off the street that a lot of you are talking about. The ones who can get a 4 ypc or better, are some of the best in pass protection, are very good as receivers out of the backfield and don’t have any big red flags (of the field, injury or drugs).

And none of the 32 teams have any room for these great RBs on their roster, there must be a lot of great talent at the RB position in the NFL right now.

What some of you don’t see is that even if Trent’s rushing has not been great (I think it has been ok this year), he still brings something to the team. He has been very good in the other aspects of the game. I don’t think it would be so easy to find somebody that are as good in pass protection, receiving out of the backfield and can just come in and give you a better overall performance.

Bradshaw is better than him in every facet of the game

  13. Trent had a good day with his YPC average (4.1). I'll take that every game actually. I think Mosley gave everyone fits, but especially Trent when he caught the ball, Mosley was there to tackle him right away so it made him look worse. Against the Texans I think you keep passing him the ball and let him run it 10-15 times. 15 carries and 5 receptions might be the best use for him and continue to use Bradshaw with him regularly as the nice combo they are. He's nothing special, but he's doing his job at least. We're just hoping he continually produces at this point before taking the next step.

I'm watching the game again right now, and while Mosley gave everyone fits, there were at least 2 plays that I've seen so far that was clearly the result of Trent being a poor running back. For a guy who is supposed to be a YAC player, he's had too many plays where he's brought down with one-arm tackles. On the screen play where Mosley stopped him, he had Thornton out in front blocking and had Mosley sealed inside but Trent unnecessarily cutback right into Mosley's arms.

He's just not very good, and I'm tired of this staff and this forum acting like it's not his fault. He is a liability virtually every time we put the ball in his hands. The only thing more foolish looking than trading a first for Richardson is the refusal to admit it was a mistake and keep force feeding him in an attempt to save face. That is a poor reflection on this staff and front office, in my opinion

Overall, I'm pleased with the progress the team has made so far. The offensive line is coming together, as is the defensive line. The secondary looks borderline elite, even without either of our starting safeties from last season, and the play calling on both sides of the ball has improved drastically....BUT... Trent and the team's insistence on starting him is the biggest blemish I see, and still makes me take pause when considering if this is the right front office to lead us to a superbowl
