How loud were the Colts fans?

We were loud for as long as the game was competitive. Bob Lamey said it best last night. Something to the effect of, "The 12th man showed up tonight, we just didn't do much to keep them around.."

I was actually surprised how loud we were. The crowd looked almost 50/50, in terms of ratio between Pats and Colts fans

  2. So your best friend is a Pats fan, but the Patriots fans are why everyone hates them? ;)

Look I hear what you're saying, but you do realize that this happens at virtually every stadium, virtually every week, right? People get stupid when they get emotional about watching this sport. It's always been that way.

I didn't call you out to pick a fight or to try to make you look bad. I've got almost 2800 posts on this board without a single warning. Wasn't trying to troll you... just got to stick up for my peeps, you know? We're not all bad, lol...

We're good. I know all you guys aren't bad. I shouldn't have made the final comment about the fans in my first post. Just an unpleasant gaming experience last night due to a few crowds of Bostonians that make for poor excuses of human beings. Definitely changed my perception of this "rivalry." It's more of a regional clash of cultures than anything. Maybe that's just what being a fan is about out that way (or maybe not) I don't know, I've never been to a sporting event out east.

Anyways, great game last night. Good luck the rest of the season

  3. LOL...

Sorry counselor, but you lose your case then. You can call me classless all you want, but nothing I said was even close. And if you're going to strike out at an entire demographic of people, and then act all butt-hurt when I call you out on it, you're the one proving a point. It's just not the point you think you're proving.

Why won't you answer the very simple question? (What did they do?)

Are they jerks because they were happy and celebrated the win? Maybe they gave a little grief back to the Indy fans around them? Had a good time after spending hundreds of dollars, maybe even thousands if they traveled there, to support their team?

Look if you tell me that a bunch of Pats fans got loaded and were picking fights and dumping beer on people, that's one thing. But if you're talking about having hurt feelings because they had the nerve to pay good money to come to YOUR stadium and root for THEIR team, well... sorry but toughen up.

So which one was it? Drunken idiocy or hurt feelings? Because if it's the former, then you have a point. If it's the later, you're being a baby.

I prefaced my original post saying, "This has nothing to do with the New England fans on this forum," so that automatically disqualifies your accusation that I'm labeling all Pats fans the same. You read what you wanted from it. And it was definitely the former. As I said, I've been to rivalry games. There were good Pats fans there that I didn't have a problem with. I was actually surrounded by them (one of them being my best friend). I'm talking about a good 4-5 crowds of New England fans that were just trying to start fights all night. It wouldn't surprise me if they got what they were looking for on their way out of the stadium

  4. I don't get into exchanges with people at games, especially over sports. I did see a lot of almost fights break out last night though because the New England crowd was just downright obnoxious the entire evening, even before the blowout started. Nothing wrong with cheering your team on, but they were just insulting people in the crowd, the city and the team as loud as possible, baiting for a confrontation with some Colts fan drunk enough to bite. I've been to a lot of sporting events involving rivals and I've never had as unpleasant an experience as I had last night, just as an observer. Of course the outcome of the game didn't help but that's nothing. Teams lose, you move on. Being a fanatic shouldn't give people the excuse to act like the lowest form of life for 3 hours...just saying

  5. No, it really isn't though. That's how you feel this morning because you went to the game last night, all pumped up and ready to go, and watched your team get pushed around for three hours. And it sounds like some NE fans made it worse for you.

You weren't specific about what they did... care to shed any light on that?

There are good fans and jerks in every fan base. No need to paint an entire region of people with the same hateful brush.

I rest my case. Thanks for proving my point

  6. I went to the game last night. This has nothing to do with the New England fans on this forum, but as for the ones at the game last night..... some of the most classless, obnoxious fans I've ever seen at a sporting event, from start to finish.

Much respect to the Patriots team and the game they played last night. That being said, their fans are the real reason everyone hates them

  7. It just wasn't a very smart gameplan against a strong mobile QB known for extending plays. Blitzing him is the last thing you want to do, especially after losing our top man-coverage corner early. We had Brown in check for the most part before Vontae got hurt.

All that being said, it was just a bad game. I'm not thrilled we gave up 50 but I'm also not overly concerned. I just think we lost our composure on both sides of the ball, compounded by the injuries, and a snowball effect ensued from there

  9. Sanders does appear to be better. As was mentioned earlier, he plays tough, doesn't cry for flags and is probably Denver's best route runner already. They said Adam Gase (Denver's OC who used to work on the Mike Martz era Rams staff) compared his route running ability to Isaac Bruce. That's some pretty high praise, if you ask me.

Decker is a solid receiver but I think Sanders brings more to Denver's offense this year than Decker brought last season. Just my opinion, of course

  10. Over the past few seasons, we have quietly turned into one of the better special teams units in the league. In particular, the onside kicks have been huge this season. Who really knows what kind of games we would've been in, had we not shifted the momentum with those timely play calls.

I like to see that this staff is looking at every angle to win games, and those plays wouldn't have been made possible without lots of film study and a whole lot of courage on the part of McMahon, and ultimately Pagano. I've been critical of Pagano in the past because I've felt his over-conservatism has cost us a few games last year, but Kudos to him as well for finally bucking some of those negative tendencies he's had

  11. Huh? Did you watch Eric Decker at all the past two seasons? He caught 85 and 87 balls for 1,064 and 1,288 AND had 11 and 13 TDs those two years. He caught a lot of balls between the 20s AND scored TDs. He was the better player for Denver by a lot. Sanders may have more receptions and yards at year end but doubt he comes anywhere close to double digit TDs this year. So yeah, I will take the guy with the catches, yards AND TDs over the guy with just catches and yards. And so would every GM and coach in the NFL.

Eric Decker had 1 touchdown after 4 weeks of each season in both 12' and 13'... He had 4 touchdowns in week 12 against KC last season. What's to stop Sanders from having a similar game to boost his TD totals? He certainly has the QB to make it possible

  12. 49ers & Seahawks run power sets cause they have the lines & RB's to do it

Why would you run a formation that gets 0 or - yards each time?

    2nd & Long and 3rd & long isn't a good thing

That's the problem I have with it. They give is longer yards to go and then it's obvious we're about to pass the ball when it's 3rd & 12

We're just lucky the Texans defensive secondary sucks. DJ being the man one. He's a young Brandon Merriweather. Just got for illegal hits and missed tackles

I think the problem is Trent and his lack of vision, in terms of the run game. The blocks aren't always there, but they are there enough of the time that he should be doing more with his carries. Bradshaw runs fine out of the power sets. Last night we had 2 backup guards starting and we still ran well for stretches --Yes, even Trent

(He had a couple of 1st down runs in the 3rd quarter that were straight up the gut that gained 9-10 yards)

Overall, the problem isn't the scheme. I don't mind the power sets because so many of our big plays are coming off play action in those same formations and looks. As ineffective as you feel our run game was last night, we were still able to work play action off of it as well as any team in the league. The predictable runs serve a purpose

  13. Yep, but........ But I will admit he has improved

Still early, but my hate has went down. I can admit when I'm wrong. Season isn't over yet, but he definitely has improved

Still really hate those obvious run formations. Seems like he just refuses to get rid of them. They haven't worked all year.

Every team uses obvious run formations. We're not the only ones to do it, and it's totally intentional how obvious they are. The idea is to develop trends, then buck them with explosives.  Get the defense on their toes by running in a particular formation, then go play action off of it. Part of the reason the deep passing game has opened up so much these past 3-4 games is because we're throwing off play action and/or from power formations. Just look at all of TY's big plays from last night and chart how many of them came from 2-3 tight end, condensed formations. Just because a run play doesn't pick up 4-5 yards every carry doesn't mean it doesn't serve a purpose

  14. If you have not seen the increase in pressure up the middle the last two games then you are not really watching the line.

I wouldn't say it's coming from up the middle. It's basically coming entirely from the right side of the line. Thornton struggled in pass pro in the Ravens game, as did Louis last night, and Cherilus has been disappointing all season. LT, LG and C play has been solid the past 2 games (outside of the snap issues) in my opinion

  15. I swear man, it's like people don't know that you need to have good blocking to run the ball well.  Trent isnt' lighting up the box score or anything, but he's been good in a couple of games and bad in others.  In the games he didn't do so well in, neither did anyone else.  I will say that he's been more decisive in hitting the hole when its there and looking for the cutbacks a lot better.  But when you're getting hit in the backfield as you're getting the handoff, you're not goign to be getting huge gains.

I still agree with the concept that we shouldn't have given up a first rounder for him, but that's because we shouldn't use a 1st round pick on RBs in general.  That being said, now that he's here, he's been solid and dependable.  He is 6th in rushing yards on 1st and 10, which is pretty good considering that half of his rushes are in 2 and 3 TE sets and over half of them have been in 1 WR looks or less (meaning more often than not, he's looking at defenses stacked up front).  When you've got that many guys in the box, you're just not going to be getting 20 yards absent a complete breakdown in teh defense.  He's also got mroe first downs than anyone on the team and has a first down per carry rate of 15%.  That number already isn't that badconsidering guys like Alfred Morris' and Jamaal Charles have a first down/carry ratio of 19%, Eddie Lacy 17%, Arian Foster and Marshawn Lynch at 20%.  But when you throw in the fact that 73 of Trent's 87 rush attempts have all been on 1st and 2nd down with more than 6 yards to go, that's a pretty darned good number.  So, fine, his YPC are pedestrian, but he's moving the chains and putting us in manageable 2nd and 3rd downs as good as anyone else in the league.

Where are you getting these numbers? Just curious

  16. What in the name of Luck was that?!

I am racking my brain trying to think of a play designed any worse than that and I've got nothing off the top of my head.

That was beyond laughable bad into the "sad bad" territory. Right up there with Quinn Garay's sack of Manning in '10.

I'm afraid to go to sleep tonight for fear of having a nightmare about it.

The play was fine, it was just a bad read by Luck. Bradshaw would have scored on the handoff

  17. I agree. I'm really enjoying this three tight end setup.

But in some cases he can come in and throw a block.

He was at the bottom of the league in that category last season. Let him go, he's expendable. I'm not willing to take any combination of our tight ends or receivers off the field at an point in the game for a fullback that can't even block
