Nelson is a great pick, but Kelly and Castonzo been nearly as important.

The left side of the Colts line is as good as I have seen since the Colts came to Indy.

I agree that the line is good because of more than one player....but I still love that hustle of Nelson.  And I think he raised the level of play of others around him in the run game.

The worst thing they can do is try and score as much as possible to keep up. That blew up in the ravens face Sunday. They need to go out there play there game and run time off the clock on offense. You have to limit KC chances If you have any hope to win. You go in trying to out do Mahomes your going to get killed. Reich went away from the run game in the playoff game way to early.

According to the game summary from last year, we had a blocked punt, forced a field goal, held once on 4 downs, and forced 3 punts.  KC isn't invincible, and if we play to our strengths, control the clock, mix in runs and passes, there is always a possibility that we could win.  There is no doubt in my mind we lose in a shoot out though.  But we still need to focus on the Raiders first.

No.  There is no logic to not taking more yardage, especially when the overlooked option had a chance to potentially score.  It's simply a missed read.  It's not the end of the world, but Brissett is grading out average/poorly on some metrics for a reason.

Constructive criticism of Brissett is allowed.  For the Pollyanna crowd, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the same constructive criticism is happening inside the walls of the Colts' practice facility.  JB isn't a finished product yet.

Pointing out things JB needs to work on doesn't mean that someone is saying he's not a good player, or that he didn't have a great game against the Falcons.

As for Luck?  He had his own issues, turnover-worthy throws being one of the biggest over the course of his career.

I have to agree with you here.  I still have faith in JB, and am a big supporter, but there is nothing wrong with stating he can be better.  It's three games into the year with him as the starter.  I'm still on the Brissett train, regardless of if he's missed some opportunities.  As long as we keep winning and keep getting better, that will definitely keep me happy.   Go Colts!

No doubt Brissett needs to be consistent over 16 games. He won’t have games like Sunday every week. Most QB will have teams that give them more trouble. It’s more about wins for me not stats.

Reich said in a presser this week you have to have versatility so you can take advantage of what another team is giving you. I think this team could look different from week to week because of that.

RE: Brissett, I agree. The Falcons D was about as vanilla as it gets, but those complex looks the titans gave confused him. I have faith he will get better with time.

We were so good last year. Luck was a major reason for that.  If JB improves his pocket awareness that will help. But let’s put it in perspective how good we were. If a team allowed around 30 sacks or under that put  then in the top five in 2018. Don’t think we played very good teams with good pass rush either. If we can keep the sacks to around thirty or a little less that should be at the top of the league by the end of the year. Mariota is on schedule for 91 sacks lol. Seems Houston might of found a solution to their oline problem but Watson is on schedule for 64 If it doesn’t work.

Fair enough. Plenty of time to balance out in the long run.

He isn't ferocious with his voice as everyone thinks. The dude just handles his business and is always calm and collected. We should be blessed we have the best offensive lineman in the league, and should for the next decade...

I don't think his voice is ferocious; it's kind of meek IMHO, but I agree he definitely handles business.  Here's to some longevity and no injuries for a long time!!

  7. I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but the announcers kept pointing it out, and I think it's worth mentioning.  Not only was Brissett on fire the first half, ball placement was perfect, allowing his receivers to make plays after the catch.  It was really a thing of beauty watching him carve up that defense.

I love Brissett, and I am not one bit surprised by what he has done so far.

But you are really comparing apples and oranges.

The O-line was bad at the beginning of last year, really bad.

    Now it's great.

Not to nit-pick, but just before Vinitieri made it 13-0, Brissett missed a wide open Hilton when he threw it away.... Go look. He should have had 3 TD's!

I saw that too...but that defender was closing in FAST.  I think if it's there, in the future, he makes that throw away a TD though.

The oline is the Colts identity right now.  And the best word used to describe that is scrappy.

The defense is not great... it's not even good at this point of the season.

Qb play has been very good but the term I'd use is efficient.

The Colts have not played well for an entire game yet, but still if it were not for AV's missed FGs and EP the Colts would be 3-0 right now.  So I think scrappy is a good identity.

I think our D will get better as the year goes on.  I haven't seen much blitzing to mix things up, and that might help us get off the field on 3rd and long once in a while.  I agree though, the o-line is our identity at this point.  Scrappy sounds about right (pictures of Wilson/Mack/Nelson floating through my mind right now).
