  1. Hey everyone, I was planning on going through all the games this offseason.  Does anyone have any requests for something to key in on?  First 5 requests will be acknowledged.  This will be a long drawn out process, as I will be reviewing during my limited free time.

They both have made more of impact this year but it's too early to tell.

I remember people bad mouthing Polian when he took a receiver Wayne when Quincy Morgan, Chad Johnson and Chris Chambers were available.  Or for taking Freeney rather than Haynesworth.  In the long run, it was proven that Polian made the correct choice.  We need to wait and see if the same can be said for Ya-Sin.

Some receivers take a few years to catch on, and so do some DBs.  Some receivers are first year studs, so are some DBs.  I have a feeling Ya-Sin has the tools and will catch up to the talent level of DBs that can cover receivers like Metcalf.  Just my gut feeling.  We shall see.

the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos prove you wrong...

I would argue Wilson and Manning are/were elite QBs.  Put to the point of the OP, we have two All-Pro guys on defense....gonna need a few more of those, and it starts up front.  The more pressure we can produce, we can start making our other guys look better.  Hopefully Turay returns to form and continues to produce at a high level while avoiding injury, and we get a game changer DT, either through the draft or FA.

wow and you got Nelson to model it? :funny:

Jk, I got a Colts coffee mug, I held out For a Nelson jersey, dropped a lot of hints, but never materialized. Looks like I’ll be ordering one.

If only I had his muscle lol! I doubt any one but a fellow Colt fan will even know who it is. Hehhehe.

  5. I don't know much about rankings in PFF but this looks like Grover Stewart is doing a good job of clogging up the middle.  I'd say he deserves some recognition as well.

Edit:  So I misunderstood Elite, and didn't realize it was for the package offering of the website... I still appreciate what he has done.

  6. I see Hooker as the type of player that if we traded to another team with a different defensive scheme, he'd be making more plays.  The way he's been used this year has been questionable, in my humble opinion.  I do feel more pressure up front would lead to more opportunities for him.  Hopefully it gets addressed in the upcoming draft.

Yep. I live here too. You see, Indiana, we a little bit screwy when it comes to things like this. We generally don’t take kindly to being led on & or bait and switched. For example, the Paul George thing a couple years ago, the John Elway thing a couple decades ago and even the McDaniels thing last year.

If Luck had announced his retirement WITHOUT going thru warmups and throwing the balls in front of fans just half an hr before, then I think it’d gone over a lot smoother than it did. He, whether intentional or not, toyed with the fans in that regard. If he hadn’t gone and done that, and assuming the leak still happens the way it did, I know I’d at least given him more of a forgiving tone.  I’d still been disappointed but I wouldn’t feel toyed with. Granted my feelings and opinions are irrelevant in the grand scheme, I just know I’m not the only one that feels this way.

Will i I eventually stop talking bout it, yeah. Eventually

Like I said before, Luck deserved an Academy Award for that one...

Is there a group of people that work together to make sure someone as insignificant as Colin Kaepernick stays in the news?

Kap was not a good quarterback when he played (28-30 record as a starter, 3-16 his last two years).

He has been out of the NFL for 3 years... he has NOT gotten better in that time.

He is a cancer in the locker room

    He is not a leader

He had his little media circus... excuse me, "workout".  And no team signed him.

If you want to idolize Kap for his political views and social stance, that's great.  But he is no longer a football player and no longer relevant in the NFL.

Sorry Coffeedrinker. This is my fault.  I forgot to add /sarcasm.  I really was just joking.  All those things you posted just shows how ridiculous mentioning is :p.  I don't know if JB is the long term solution,  but this year,  in its entirety,  has been painful to watch games.   Maybe once we are healthy on O it will be funner to watch.  I look forward to the day when Hilton, Campbell, and Fountain take the field.

Got to admit the scouting report from 2016, is exactly what we are seeing this season.  We have a good defense, great oline, decent receivers, although currently depleted by injuries, suspect special teams, but soon to improve dramatically.  My fear is we spend another season evaluating JB, or draft a wonder boy who doesn't work out, and waste another season with the team we already have.

My hope is we sign a PROVEN, NFL QB, which it seems several will be available in the offseason, and take a shot at the ring.  This fanbase needs it.

Kaepernick made it to the Super Bowl already.  I think he's still available.

  10. @SteelCityColt Thank you for this post.  It seems the Colts fit in to many categories that make us a 50/50 team, which makes sense, considering the stats about our QB.  The third down stat surprised me (for offense) but it makes sense to me, especially thinking about past games.  When moving down the field making first downs on first and second downs AND scoring points, third downs don't matter as much.  With QBs we've had with higher QB ratings where it seemed we did this more (I may totally be off base, please correct me if I'm wrong), it seemed we won more.  Again, thanks for this breakdown.   At first I was feeling unsure if I would understand your post, but you broke it down brilliantly and it was very comprehensible!!

here is the thing though, going through progressions is not something that takes years to do.  And all the QBs you mentioned and many others were very good at going through their progressions coming out of college.  I believe it's one of those things that cannot be learned more than incremental improvement, a QB either is good at it or they are not.  A QB may become better at it in their range but someone who is bad at it will not become good, someone who is good at it will not be great at it.  It's one of the major reasons why I don't think QBs like Watson or Winston are elite QBs.  It's also a big reason why Wilson has become an elite QB despite being "too small" to be an NFL QB.

Additionally, when it comes to something as fundamental for a QB as going through his progressions, you cannot just limit it to his starts.  he's been in the league for 4 years now.  Even has a backup/scout team QB he has to be able to go through his reads.  It is the same as saying that a LB only has 23 starts of course he's not going to be good at tackling yet.

You just had to throw in all those "W" QB names didn't you? :p Like a darn tongue twister!!

I am utterly convinced you haven’t watched a single down of him. He has absolutely been dominant this year. That push might just have been the only pressure he has allowed this entire season. Not trying to be disrespectful, but Nelson is not at all the problem

Thanks.  And he got a little hands to the face that wasn't called on that play.  Other players get paid too, and Heyward is a good player, but he got away with one yesterday.

Nah it’d be more fun to see them eat crow IF we survive this loss. But first, we have to figure out how to win without TY. They’ve not ever done that so I can see the cause for concern.

Here's to hoping to see the first play action pass deep route to Campbell or Cain!

Doesn’t matter. We had no business doing nothing. Passing game has been meh. Two undefeated teams went out and bolstered their areas of weakness. Here we are depending on an undrafted player, a 6th round pick, a 2nd round pick who hasn’t stayed healthy. We may be in trouble

We might be in trouble, or we might use our TEs more.  I think they can still catch.

Funny, we all want that. I was just pointing out that people criticizing JB says he doesn't throw for a lot of yards but yet those same people would take Garoppollo over JB.

My point was that sure if you are NOT throwing for a lot yards, yes, there is probably less chance for interceptions.  I'm fine with it, I just feel this stat is cherry picking for a narrative.  I'm fine with JB's style of play for now.

Brissett has thrown an interception  on 1.32 percent  of his passes the lowest mark in nfl history  through a qbs first 30 games.

Is this a good or bad thing?  Could it mean he's not pushing the ball down the field as much?  Need more context.  Also, how many fumbles has he lost?
