I never watched Peter Jennings much, but I know Dan Rather well. I saw all his Vietnam coverage in the field stuff. Mike Wallace was really good too. I remember Tom Brokaw as well. But Tom wasn't half as good as Dan & Mike were. Not even close.

I took a military history course in graduate school & we covered journalism in wartime. I have so much respect for Cronkite, Wallace, & Rather. Those guys were through man & they refuse to be intimidated by any administration in power. They supplied the public with tangible information with no filter. And they were just as tenacious in their youth as they evolved into elder media icons too.

I remember that show. I'd do alright on a music based program. Not singing. Just recalling verses or stanzas etc.

It's been proven that music sticks in a person's brain extremely well. If you memorize something to music, you'll never forget it.

I watch SVU regularly. A show with dark tones exceptionally well written. I've watched it from it's inception & I appreciate the sophistication of it's scripts. Not a fan of Rap/Hip Hop, but I respect Ice T as an actor. He's very believable on screen.

SVU is the best show D**k Wolf has ever produced IMO & I will checkout his new show "FBI" on CBS this Fall too.

Mike Wallace was one hades of an investigate reporter. He sat down with everybody. Kings, presidents, dictators, politicians, you name it.

Mike didn't take grief from anybody & he knew how to challenge heads of state when he thought he wasn't being told the truth. Man, I wish reporters today had half the courage & moxy Mike did. Journalists have no teeth anymore.

I have had 2 in my life. Last one I had was in 2008, so it's been 10 years ago. I was going 82 in a 70 MPH on the interstate. State Police got me. The guy came up on me chewing on a toothpick with thick dark sunglasses on. He was young so I knew I was screwed. The other one I got, I was in Highschool, just got my license. That was a 57 in a 40. That was back in 1989.

No, I drive like an old lady but my husband has.  One time he was listening to a baseball game and not paying attention to his speed.

      It was expensive.

    4. southwest1

      southwest1

Luckily, I've never be busted for speeding by the police. I probably just jinxed myself by saying that now. Never tempt fate folks. She does not have a sense of humor as all.

Sorry to hear about your ticket JPPT. That's an expensive lesson we all would like to avoid. Not a reflection on you at all. God knows, I got away with a few highway infractions that I probably shouldn't have in the past. Hang in there my friend.

You know where you hear a song it's original form by the actual artist & it bothers you because you know it sounds familiar but from where? I'm referring to Billy Stewart's classic "Summertime" BTW.

Then, it hit me. "Stuck On You" the movie starring Matt Damon & Greg Kinnear with actress Meryl Streep...Want proof?

Whew, now I feel better. You really perplexed me on that one for a minute JPPT. :D
