Raheem Mostert plans to ignore any Jonathan Taylor talk

    By Mike Florio

Last month, the Dolphins flirted with the idea of trading for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. Now that Taylor’s four weeks on the reserve/PUP list are coming to an end, will the Dolphins do it again?

Given the way Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane are performing, why would they? Whatever the Colts want, why give it up for a position where there’s really no need?

Yeah #14 was killing us. It happened 1 too many times.

Right, Kyle Hamilton a safety. He's an excellent rookie player, but he had three sacks, all when he came untouched. On another play, he did the same blitz, for the fourth time, and came again untouched. This time the Colts ran the ball and Hamilton stuffed the runner ruining our play.

Did Mo even run any routes yesterday or did he just block? We need him to be more than just an extra OLman! If he can’t run routes or catch the dang ball, trade him asap!

I don't think he had any catches. Seemed like he was in there strictly to block. On one play, late in the game, I saw Mo get bowled right over trying to block, I plan to watch the game again and will take notice how the TEs performed. The staff has a big decision coming once Woods returns.

People seem to always assume sacks are because the Oline did something wrong. Not the case yesterday.

True in some ways, but the linemen also have to make adjustments. The fact that they did not, in crucial situations, need to be addressed. Somebody was responsible for the breakdowns and they need to be corrected. Hopefully, since Steichen is always preaching how they will "watch the tape"... The team will eventually figure this out.

No not the best but it was up there, too 3 for sure.

AV vs the ravens in 07 to get us to the AFCCG is number one.

AV 3 kicks in a blizzard including the game winner a couple years after that

Matt Vs the Ravens yesterday is how I’d rank it

I was responding that (Gay's kicking) may have been the best that I have watched, was meant as more of "a matter of my opinion". And not simply based on statistics.

The game you picked (2007) AV hit on FGs from:

    23 yards

    42 yards

    51 yards

    48 yards

    35 yards

In the 2007 game the Colts held the lead throughout.

I believe, Gay's hitting all four from 50+, when coming from behind, and the game winner, in OT was better

It didn’t happen for years.  Just two years ago the Colts line one was one of the best in football.  Last year seemed to be more of an issue with philosophy which is why the oline coach was fired.  Kelly also said he was severally under weight last year and his struggles last year were more related to just not being big enough and getting pushed around.  This year he has his weight back and has played extremely well.  The New England game last year was guys just not making blocks that not the samething as not getting the protection set.  The whole line couldn’t pick up a stunt, again that’s not Kelly pointing out blitzers that appeared to be an issue with how they were being coached and thats why that coach isn’t back this year.

Believe what you want. Kelly will be back this week or next. And I hope you are right, that then everything should be just fine with our stopping blitzes and stunts. Since now opposing DCs will watch this film and be licking their chops

Yet it hasn’t happened in the first two games with Kelly making the calls.  It happened today with Minshew making the calls.  It was a factor no question because there were several times beyond just Hamilton where guys weren’t getting picked up properly which we haven’t seen this year until today.  Call me crazy but if it didn’t happen with the guy who is responsible for it being in there and it does happen a lot with the guy who is responsible for it not being in there I think that was a factor.

Its happened for years. Remember NE last year?

Making that much money though he had to get back to himself. You don’t pay a guy that much for 7 tackles. We can get more then that from Franklin and speed.

I'm surprised he had 7. I only noticed one good tackle where he stuffed the ball carrier for little gain. Most of the time I saw him *footing around. Comes into the camera view after the whistle

I think they just missed Ryan Kelly helping with protection calls. Minshew is usually good against the blitz but not so good today. Running backs and tight ends have to do their jobs also picking it up. Ravens disguise blitzes really well.

Sorry, I disagree. This Problem was happening last year too. They never seem to know who should be blocking who.

When a safety comes on a blitz, unblocked, and clobbers your QB one time, I guess you can say... well, the other team out schemed us there. But you have to adjust and fix it. Totally unacceptable to allow the safety to blitz unblocked, and destroy our drives, throughout the game. I doubt having Kelly in there would have made any difference

I’m giving it to week 8 before writing him off completely

He probably will get hurt before then

Smith did not give up a sack. The Oline was not a problem today.

The problem with the line this year seems not to be personnel, but rather, the schemes. Failures to pick up blitzes and stunts. I'm wondering if this is due to coaching? Or players making mistakes in protection assignments? Probably both, but this has to be fixed soon. Or all our QBs will be on IR

It’s really starting to be worrisome with Leonard. He is not improving. Has looked like a liability. This might be his last year with colts with Franklin and speed playing so well.  Talk about opening some cap room.

I'm glad you noticed this too. After such a big win, I didn't want to come here and criticize. But Leonard has been bad, and he gets a lot of snap counts. I'm sure Stuard would have made more plays and tackles, had he been playing

Colts waive Deon Jackson, turn to Trey Sermon

...Sermon was a third-round pick of San Francisco in 2021 who has appeared in nine games with two starts with the 49ers and Philadelphia.

The Eagles claimed Sermon off waivers from San Francisco prior to the start of last season, and he appeared in two games for the Shane Steichen-directed offense.

“We always just want to add depth,’’ Steichen said of adding Sermon to the practice squad. “Chris (Ballard) and his staff do a great job of evaluating guys.’’

The 6-0, 215-pound Sermon started 15 of 46 games at Oklahoma and Ohio State, and rushed for 2,946 yards and 26 TDs...

Kelly has been the number one graded center in the league after two weeks.

I also read where Kelly was rated number one, and I'm pleased to see Kelly starting off the year on a positive note.

Yet, I take that evaluation with a grain of salt. Having watched both games over on replay, I just didn't see such dominance.

It's strange he is rated so high, especially, since the Colts had such a terrible running game (and overall, an underwhelming offensive blocking performance) vs the Jaguars in week one... Couple this, with Kelly only playing one half of the Texans game.

I am not trying to bash RK at all. But rather, I look forward to seeing if there is a drop off with French, or even (I dare to say) an improvement?
