Hughes Sheppard trade/free agency

I like a lot of moves Grigs has made but I had a feeling that this one would be up in the air.....Sheppard was sub par and Hughes had 10 sacks 2 forced fumbles and 46 tackles. Next year our d line could use some help and we find ourselves looking free agency/draft and we had that guy earlier this season. I hope we make the right moves this off season and look forward to next year. Orakpo everybody wants but will be to costly for us because we have a to many holes to fill......I would be more concerned about stopping the run over getting to opposing QB's at this point.....Any thoughts to who to let go and who to pick in free agency?

I also just looked at Brian Orackpo's stats and he had 10 sacks recovered 2 fumbles and 60 tackles.  If we pay big money for him and could have had the same stats essentially for less money than that does not make any sense.

I agree. While I think Orakpo would be a great addition, the money just isn't there. I would much rather spend on the O-line, and D-line. I wouldn't mind spending money on a younger up-and-coming rusher. Give someone a prove yourself contract and let them do it.

Had to be one of the DUMBEST moves of last off season.
Bringing back McGlynn and actually playing him also an * move.
TRICH...

Hughes had 10 sacks for Buffalo. What he did on a different team is irrelevant. Mathis led the league in sacks all year. We had no need for Hughes while we had a gaping hole at ILB next to Freeman. Sheppard didn't prove himself to be the answer but what more could Hughes have contributed?

Not sure what Hughes could have done for us.....We gave him plenty of chances, just stinks he leaves the Colts and has himself as pretty good year.  We need someone that can replace Mathis eventually, and finding that replacement via free agency could be COSTLY.  It drives me nuts in the NFL, MLB, NBA when players leave a organization and finally figure it out what there job is.....that and overachieving on contract years.
