Irsay won't fire him, the new GM would and it will be more than a week later. They haven't even hired the new GM yet.
Right. Because the new GM is going to overrule his boss. I'm sure that'll work out great.

Better, but I question whether the new GM will be quite as high on the O-line as this forum has been. I question whether he will view this O-line as "built."
On this forum, with Grigson, it was pretty much all we had to be positive about and were probably a little overly optimistic.
I think you have three solid pieces in Castanzo, Kelly and Mewhort. You may have to look for Castanzo's replacement soon given that his play has dropped since 2014. The other two spots need rectified but there was certainly improvement overall.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to let Pagano go this coming year at this point. For one, his entire staff was just replaced this past year. It would be wise to give them another season to fully implement their systems. Addtionally, Andrew will be out for some time and it doesn't make sense to force him to learn a new offensive system if he can't be there.
If the new GM wants his own guy, one more year with Pagano and his staff won't be a huge deal.

I said in the other thread GM's would still knock the door down for the job even with Pagano still here for 2017. And it looks like it.
No doubt. Colts have an elite-level QB entering his prime years, have some decent pieces on offense while the offensive line appears to be looking better. Main fixes will need to be on the defense.

Not that I disagreed with what Reggie said concerning Grigson this past season but I doubt he gets brought on, even if he wanted to.

I'm outside of the Indy market. What's the best way for someone like me to catch this JMV?

good OC, not proven as a HC not unlike Pagano....just don't think we can take the chance. must get a HC in the NFL with a winning record and winning playoffs record that coached within the last 3 years.
If you see someone just laying around with those credentials, let us know!

McDaniels, Kyle Shannahan.
Its a moot point for me if Grigson is still around.

So who do they bring in to replace if it's true?

WAs that suppose to be today? Because it looks awfully dark in the background outside.

Look, I want to believe all of this is true but when it's coming from the likes of Brad Wells and another random Twitter account, it's hard to believe.

Or, at least, forceing Jim to SAY something.
Jim's not going to hold a press conference to shoot down a rumor from Brad Wells.

Because bogie is a troll
He's still jealous that Brees will always be remembered as second fiddle to Manning and Brady. Plus the Saints suck now.
I honestly don't know if there are any truths to the rumors about Gruden but I don't see how he could be worse than Chuck has been at times.

Brad Wells is also #fakenews

#FakeNews
I understand journalists want to be first on the spot and be able to take the credit for breaking the story but this is getting to be ridiculous.

Re-watching this clip reminds me that Luck grew up with west coast principles where he got the ball out on time...it's pretty sad that we didn't build on that foundation better.
This should be a stark reminder of areas where Luck is not better than when we found him....and an area where coaching should be held accountable.
Makes me a little mad right now.
I think they tried a little bit more of that in 2013 in the early stages but once they realized the running game was virtually non-existent and then with Wayne hurt, they had to open up the offense a lot more and trust Luck to carry the offensive load and go down the field more.

I think Pagano has been interfering with the playcalling since Pep was the OC. A lot of the same baffling play calls in similar situations has occurred under both Chud and Pep's offense while the one constant has been Pagano.

Absolutely disgusting to wake to this. Irsay has put his money and bank account over the team and the fans. Not sure If I will watch next year. May see what Grigson does in FA. If he doesn't get a solid Pass rusher and CB and we don't draft Defense, I'm out. Can't see wasting a year of my life on that trash as a coach Pagano when we'll just fall flat for a half every game. He turns everyone around him into !d!ots, including Luck.
Money will become a real issue for Irsay when fans stop going to games next year.

IF these two * were capable of winning they would have done it by now.
Not saying I agree with the logic or reasoning, just saying what Irsay is probably thinking.

Lord I hope this fake news.
Have a feeling it's not. Marvez is pretty reliable.
I think Irsay is planning to give Grigson and Pagano one more year. Miss the playoffs again and he will fire both. Grigson and Pagano are in a prime spot to atleast do that this coming season.

They've regressed every year since going to the AFC title game. That is true. So they've regressed for 2 years. The first year of regression was due to Luck missing 9 games, or did you miss that? And despite everyone and their brother claiming that the Colts were a 2 win team without Luck, they still managed to put together an 8-8 season without him. If Luck missing 9 games wasn't justification for a bit of a regression then what planet are you from?
That makes this past season, 2016, the only time they actually regressed. Guess what? There are a number of factors that played into that as well. I've stated them so many times on this board I should just put it in my sig, but here we go:
1. All new offensive coaching staff which means new schemes and terminology
2. New blocking scheme for the OL installed by new OL coach Philbin
3. Nearly half of the OL group were rookies
4. Recurring injuries, especially to that OL as well as the secondary. Every team has injuries, but not every team has to shift their starting OL on a week to week basis and seldom do you see a team get hit with injuries to 4 of their top 5 defensive backs at the same time.
5. All new defensive coaching staff with possible scheme and terminology changes
Based solely on the new offensive coaching staff, new defensive coaching staff and scheme changes, if you didn't think that there could be some regression and struggles this year then you're living in the Madden world.
I understand injuries and having young players but why is having a new coaching staff an excuse? The team had an entirely new staff in 2012 and went from 2-14 to 11-5. Numerous other teams have also made the leap and won games after changing coaching personnel around.

I don't know if Manning is a scout though. Elway has shown he has an eye for talent. I haven't even heard Manning's thoughts on draft classes or anything like that. To believe it, I'd need to see a Peyton Manning scouting report or something. I know he can probably scout a QB, but there are other positions on a team as well. Who would he hire to his scouting crew? Who would he want as HC?
In terms of the scouting questions, see my above post with the quote from Bill Polian.
-
I'd be all for it honestly. I think the link has been posted but here's the full quote from Bill Polian:
“I believe he could very quickly fill the role that John Elway fills with the Broncos,” Polian said. “The reason I say that is, during our 14 years together in Indianapolis, he would often discuss with me prospects coming out in the draft, SEC players he’d seen, players he’d seen in other parts of the country. He pays close attention to the rosters of the other players in the league, with specific attention to the AFC.
“He knew the strengths and weaknesses of every player on every defense in the AFC and many on offense, because he met them and got to know them at the Pro Bowl and soaked up information. He is a football nerd, as am I. He’s more than prepared to do that job.”
“All he would need would be a brief tutorial on the league rules and things like the general terms of trades and contract language — of which he’s also very familiar, because of his own contract,” Polian said. “He’s well-prepared to do that. He could step right from the playing field into a role like that, because he’s ready. I don’t know that he will, but if someone wanted him to do it, he would be ready immediately to do it.”
National media NOT feeling the retainment of Chuck

Usually I would agree but Irsay seemed fairly adamant about Chuck staying on for 2017. Now it could indeed change but it looks like Chuck is on for one more year regardless of who the next GM is.
