Eason and Ehlinger were also never drafted to be franchise QBs. They were drafted to maybe be backups. If you expected more from them that’s on you not Ballard. Also it doesn’t really matter if any of us feel he deserved a reset or not. Irsay did. Don’t confuse people saying what happened for people saying they felt it was deserved.

Well to be fair anyone can have that opinion but Irsay is the only whose opinion counts.

Even then he’s going to say something like you have conversations with teams all the time about players it doesn’t mean you are engaged in trade talks for all of them. Id be much more interested if someone asks him if he feels they are set in the secondary or should we expect some moves?

I wonder if Ballard is thinking trade back to the end of round one to acquire another second rounder that he could package with their second rounder to get higher in the second and maybe pick up an extra pick later one. It would explain the Colts being so interested in the WRs that are looking to be late round one picks.

I mean Irsay pretty much reset the clock on Ballard when he didn’t fire him after 22. Knowing his QB was hurt almost all of 23 I don’t see Irsay firing Ballard basically two years into a new QB with the QB missing almost all of the first year and being a glorified rookie in year two. It would take something like going 0-17 with Richardson playing all year and clearly just not being a NFL level QB and I think we saw enough last year to at least know Richardson belongs in the NFL.

Wouldn’t rule it out but one of the two main edge rushers will have to slip to 15 but odds are someone is going to slip because the QBs beyond the big three will be over drafted like they always are.

Yeah normally if you don’t get snatched up in the first week of free agency it means you are asking too much so in addition to teams recalibrating what they need vs whose left players and agents have to recalibrate what they are asking for and that can take time. I fully believe that’s what you want.

I am watching Ballard in free agency for a vet safety. I think he’s going to draft a corner in found one or two to grow with his young corners from last year. Just the sense I get. I could be wrong we shall see.

And take for granted what they do have. I get it would be nice if Grover was a pass rusher as well as run stopper but all I heard last year when he was out was oh my God they have to keep Grover look at how bad the run defense is without him (which it was they gave one more ypc while he was out). Then Ballard signs him and fans are initially very happy (see the number of likes the post got announcing he was staying. Then fans realize Ballard used his money to keep his own and it turned into what was he thinking keeping Grover? He should have gotten a pass rushing DT! Grover can’t do that he stinks.

You did miss the point. The point was if fans feel they can’t afford Simmons or any other more reasonable priced free agent how on earth did they expect them to afford Sneed? Simmons was just a name that had been used in the conversation where I drew it from. It was not a post saying hey the Colts are going to sign Simmons so yes you missed the point.
