  1. Reminds me of the joke about the kid who didn't speak at all until he was six years old. His parents were convinced that there was something wrong with him. One day - completely out of the blue - he says "EXCUSE ME, but this milk is sour". His parents gasp with relief and surprise, call their doctor and rejoice. When everything was once again calm they turned to the kid and said "If you can talk, why didn't you say anything before". The kid answers "Everything was fine up until now".

    LOL!

The story about Eli came from Archie's book, I believe. If I remember correctly, his first words were, "Hey Peyton, whose cat is that?"

  2. Seriously? That's impressive. I love Eli, but if I didn't know who he was and someone told me he was 'special', I'd believe them.

I know Fitzpatrick scored a 50, but he's a Harvard guy. None of this matters anyway, but it's interesting.

I think Eli is a bit of an enigma. Didn't speak a word until he was 3 1/2 years old, but the first thing out of his mouth was a complete sentence.

  3. I know, I know, it's a Broncos receiver so we should take it with a grain of salt. But, here's someone else saying Manning looks good,

    April 19, 2012 2:47 p.m. - by Andrew Mason

Free-agent pickup Andre Caldwell began working out with Peyton Manning at Broncos headquarters this week and was impressed by how he looked coming off neck surgery. "He looks great. He looks ready to go," Caldwell said. "I'd go to war with him any day right now, so he looks fine and healthy to me."

Unfortunately, you need to be an ESPN insider to read the whole thing. Someone on the Broncos board posted it all, but I can't link to another team's board here.

It will be in the ESPN magazine.

Here's the last couple of paragraphs

On March 7, Helton sat in the Rockies' spring training clubhouse in Scottsdale, Ariz., and watched on TV as his friend was pushed out the door by the Colts. More than 2,000 miles away in Durham, Cutcliffe was doing the same. Both were struck by Manning's sincere emotion. They wondered whether those who didn't know him so well realized how genuine his heartbreak really was.

In Denver, John Fox was also watching. And as Manning's voice cracked, the coach's did not. He stood up and told those in the room that this could be the defining moment of their careers. Fox said -- and John Elway agreed -- that they needed to be the first to reach out to the quarterback.

"Get his phone number," Fox recalls saying. "And find out where he's been working out."

  5. It's not determined by NFLN. The players vote on it. Eli didn't make the list last year. Will be interesting to see where they vote him this year. Will also be interesting to see where Peyton goes since it's supposed to be a vote on who they think the best players will be in 2012.

  6. 1 one prime time game vs multiple for other non-2011 playoff teams like SD, NYJ and Philly, and multiple for the scourge of the league Saints. 3 years removed from the Super Bowl and a draft pick heralded as the best coming out in 25+ plus years and one prime time game, on a stinking Thursday at that. How does the winning-est team from the first ten years of the new millennium become Rodney Dangerfield while teams like Pitt and NE continue to get the lime light. I can remember both of them failing to make the playoffs immediately following Super Bowl appearances and not losing any prime time coverage. Good grief, the Cardinals, Redskins and Chiefs even got MNF.

It's the result of 2-14. If you have an interesting season, you'll be back to some prime games in 2013. Every team has one Thursday night game this year.

  7. All 1:00 p.m. games except for the one in primetime - every team has one this year b/c of the expansion of Thursday night games. It means the networks aren't excited to have Colts games. This was the same as the Bills schedule last year. If you have an interesting year, it will change in 2013.

  8. Okay, with our 2-14 record last season, I thought we'd not have to play New England this season. Why are they ALWAYS on our schedule?? There's no more Manning-Brady drama to showcase.

It's the Colts' year to play the entire AFC East.

  9. why?The Mannings don't even know you exist. Will never understand this athlete worshipping mentality.

For the 10,000th time, I am a lifelong Giants fan. I started with the Giants since Simms and have suffered through Dave Brown, and Kent Graham as the QBs. I stuck with them with Kerry Collins and kurt Warner. I just like Peyton and Eli. The Giants are still my team and will be after Eli leaves. I just like to follow Peyton and Eli's career at the same time. Not sure why I have to keep apologizing for that.
