  1. I know its a preseason game and it will at times be boring, but WOOHOO to football finally being back!!!!!!!!!!!

    Bring on some football!

The first game of football in months...how can that be boring??????

    Can't wait! XD

  2. What if Jay Cutler doesn't get hurt last year?

The Bears go on to sweep the rest of their games finishing the season at 13-3. The Bears defeat the Packers sending them to 14-2, but they still have the #1 overall seed. Matt Forte never gets hurt at all during the season, and is a major part in why the Bears swept the rest of their games. Tim Tebow loses the game to the Bears and it's not even close. Tebow magic is over, and the Broncos do not go to the playoffs. Instead the chargers make it to the playoffs in their place and lose to the steelers. the steelers then defeat the patriots in an epic showdown. The ravens once again lose to the steelers in the afc championship.

Back to the bears....The bears play the giants in the first week of divisional playoffs and beat the giants! the falcons are the #6 seed and in a dramatic game-winning drive defeat the #3 seeded saints. the falcons get blown off the field by the packers, and the bears win 13-10 to the 49ers. Julius peppers harasses Rodgers all day in the nfc championship and the bears pull of a 21-17 win vs the packers.

The bears play the steeles in the superbowl. After halftime, the score is 3-6, steelers with the lead. Forte runs in a TD at the start of the 4th quarter and the score now reads 10-9, bears winning. Ben throws a td with 3 mins to go but fails on the 2pt conversion and so the score is 10-15. Cutler throws a late int sealing the victory for the steelers.

Peyton manning decides to sign with the baltimore ravens.....the broncos never did anything magical and so he has no interest there. The 49ers lost early on and he doesn't believe they're good enough. After having lost to the steelers again, the ravens decide flacco is not the answer. They sign Manning.

2012- Peyton Manning's offense and Ray Lewis's defense creates the greatest team in the history of the nfl and the ravens go on to win the SB in NO vs Eli Manning's NY Giants.

After the SB win, the world is shocked.

Peyton, Ray, and Ed all retire.

  3. And Brees, Brady, and Stafford, quarterbacks who are very, very good, great in the case of the first two, only broke Marino's record due to the lockout as well, right? -__- Something those three and Newton have in common is at least one good receiving threat, coupled with a lack of a decent running game. That would theoretically make them one dimensional, but it did not. The quarterback play was great, in fact, rookie quarterbacks suffered just as much as defenses. Huge playbooks are not easy to memorize.

Lol that's exactly why marino's record was broke. 4 qbs with almost 5k yards, when only two previous had approached it in nfl history. Defenses were historically bad last year b/c of the lockout. And most of the high passing yardage games occurred very early in the season. Specifically, Cam had two 400 yard games in the first two weeks and after that this numbers went substantially down. The lockout dramatically affected all the passing numbers last year.

  4. Only because Newton has since broken all of them. Manning's interception record, however, withstands. And Fitzgerald isn't physical? Fitzgerald hasn't been double and triple teamed every game since he first got into the league? Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson are incredibly physical receivers as well, and I don't see them declining at any time in the next five years. Say what you will, but Reggie Wayne is a very capable receiver without Manning, as was Marvin. Pair them with Orlovsky, Flynn, or any decent #2 quarterback in the NFL and they will put up numbers.

Manning's most important rookie record, 26 tds still stands. Newton broke the passing yard record during the year where defenses suffered horribly from the lockout. Stats last year were inflated b/c of that.

  5. Then we get ripped apart when we have to pay all of those guys and end up having to blow everything up and build again

Pay? I thought they could work for free............

How about 4 years of tanking, 1 championship season, let the players walk, 4 more years of tanking, 1 championship season, rinse and repeat. Might have to change the name of the team to the Indianapolis Tankers

  6. Yep, that's the problem with NFL GM's nowadays. They don't have the patience and guts it takes to tank several seasons in a row. It takes sacrifice to build a champion. Last year we had the right idea. It was a great start to a reloading phase but we need to keep it up.

My fear is that Luck will not disappoint, and in a show of extreme selfishness, he'll win the offensive ROY award, propelling us into the playoffs and destroying our chances for the future.

Grigson already made a HUGE mistake in releasing Painter. There was a perfect * to get us some much needed future picks.

I'm really going to miss Painter. He reminded me of Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. RIP Painter

  7. If we throw the next 6 seasons....just think of the possibilities!!

Obviously this is a joke, but let's actually think of the possiblities....

We have luck now. Qb is good.

2 of the tanking seasons we grab two calvin johnsons.

1 of the tanking seasons we grab a von miller.

1 of the tanking seasons we grab a suh.

1 of the tanking seasons we grab a patrick peterson.

1 of the tanking seasons we grab an adrian peterson.

That's domination for the decade after the 6 tanked seasons!

  8. I guess time will tell on what Manning does with his new 88 and his new 87, but nobody to my knowledge has played with wide receivers of the caliber of that 4sum. I'd have to give that some thought. Favre might come close... if you go over his career Sharpe, Freeman, Driver Jennings, etc.

Though he barely played with Jennings.

A little too soon to tell, but what about Brady 2007+?

Welker and Moss in their prime, and Gronk and Hernandez. Gronk I think might be a hof one day, and Hernandez is a top 10 te in the league imo, he just gets overshadowed. Again, too soon to tell on the tight ends, but I think both will have over 10k yards by the end of their careers.

  9. Name another QB that has had 4 legit wide receiver or passing targets like Warner has had? Peyton had Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Edge, Pollard, as well as Faulk briefly

Edge was not a great pass catching running back. Pollard and Clark honestly are not better than the average tight end without peyton. Harrison was elite (except in the playoffs) and wayne was very good. But Peyton defintely helped both of them like they helped him. Without Manning though, Wayne doesnt even enter into the conversation of "could he possibly be a hof one day." Faulk was only the one year. That's two really good passing targets for Manning.

Warner had five total: Holt, Bruce, Faulk (for many years), Fitz, Boldin.

  10. The problem is, with both teams (StL Ar) he was put in a position to succeed. In StL he was in the greatest shoe on turf which is widely considered Martz, not Warner and he had Faulk who's a HoF and two borderline HoF WR, in Holt/Bruce. The in Arizona he had two amazing WR in Fitz/Boldin.

I'm torn on if he should go in or not, and I'm certain that's what the voters are like as well.

Look no further than Terrell Davis. An unheard of 4year run, similar to Warner's. MVP, SB MVP, 2 Super Bowls, 2 Off Player of yr, 3 All Pros and he is not getting any consideration.

I think it will be tougher than I initially thought. I think he will like I said, but it will take probably more than a decade to get in. TD has gotten to the semi-finals every year since he became eligible. He'll probably make the finals soon. I think TD also should get in eventually, but it will still take many more years. TD and Warner both did amazing things in the postseason during those four years in addition to having those 4 great seasons. That's why I think they should go in, but I can definitely see the hesitation you and some other people have. Warner forgot how to play football during his prime, and TD had the unfortunate injury.

  11. The problem is he only had 2 great years and 2 good years.

Statistically he was a great qb for his whole career. Very high completion percentage, high qb rating, high yards per game. And he played 13 post season games and performed well overall: 31 tds, 14 ints. 3 SB appearances, and the one with Arizona was really impressive imo. He was an Mvp too. His career was impressive then wait is this the former mvp?? then really good again. Those middle years make it a hard decision but I think he did enough in Arizona to go in. I dont think he's a first ballot or second or anything like that hall of famer, but after some years go by I think he should get in. During the 95-2010 era, was anyone besides farve, manning, brady really better than warner?

  12. Warner goes in and it's not even close. League mvp, Sb appearances with two different teams, 3 overall, 1 ring. And most importantly, Hof players are supposed to have changed/impacted the game, and Warner certainly did with the greatest show on turf.

  13. You are fundamentally wrong here as the only way to achieve a split that approaches a perfect 50/50 as your sample size increases is to assume complete and total randomness of nearly every single variable at play. That just doesn't happen in the real world, where many of those variables tend to be at least somewhat controlled (e.g., coin tossing procedure).

    Some reading for you:

    http://www.codingthe...ir-proposition/

If you flipped a coin 1 billion times it should be even. Yes, while in the real world things do not behave perfectly all the time, the result would be as close to 50/50. 50.0000000000001% heads to 49.000000000000009% tails could be the actual results. The point is that it is impossible to predict what the result will be from flipping the coin; you don't know what that .0000000000000001% will favor. It doesn't matter what you pick-heads or tails-your chances are the same.

  14. All 6 of the qbs going in have rings though and are atm considered better than Rivers. Farve and Warner are going in too. That's too many qbs in the 1995-2015(?) decade going in imo. Marino was the greatest passer of all time. Fouts put up huge numbers surpassed by only a few qbs. Kelly went to 4 straight Sbs and was one of the early mo huddle qbs.

If rivers doesnt win a sb, he needs to do some other legendary feat imo to have a shot. There's more hof qbs in this era than ever and I dont think they'll put that many in.

  15. I agree with GoPats and FJC,

The NFL HOF Committee comprised mostly of media pundits and sports writers usually in terms of QB's prefers multiple 4,000 yard seasons, 3-4 ProBowl selections, reliable health/durability on the field for numerous years, and at least one Championship victory to their credit. Yes, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are shoe in candidates no question right now. Philip Rivers and Ben Ben will reach that pinnacle themselves eventually as will Eli.

I often wonder how much the HOF Committee takes into account a teams offensive line or defensive line too. Does a deficient line in either case sway voters more heavily in a candidate's direction or not?

For the life of me, I still cannot comprehend why OLB and DE Charles Haley, a 5 time SB Champion with the 49ers and Cowboys isn't in the NFL HOF yet. Who cares if he failed to kiss the backside of media personnel and newspaper writers overall. Let Haley in...This glaring oversight is ridiculous IMO.

    _mg_3895_web_version.jpg

Unless Rivers gets a ring I dont see how he gets in. That would make the qbs from this era going into the hall at 7. I think that's way too many qbs to go in from one era. And I agree about Haley, makes zero sense why he's not in yet. He ticked you off, get over it voters.

  16. I don't believe it's factual at all. You have know clue how strong a person will flip the coin and that is what determines how high it will go and how fast it will be flipping in the air. There is a 50/50 chance regardless of what side is up in the long run.

    No* not know lol.

And I stand by that there is no scientific proof that you are "more likely to win the toss."

The science of statistics/probablities says that the coin flip will be 50/50 as long as the referee is not doing to intentionally change the outcome (for example, if the referee dropped the coin straight down from 6 inches off the ground and that was his "flip", then most of the time the side facing up initially will also be the side facing up after the toss.

  17. I actually the play the game to lose....well almost lose. It's far too easy on all pro to win, but then all madden has the right difficulty in terms of the computer, but your wr will drop the ball if they get hit and the cpu will break a 1000 tackles. Madden needs to combine all pro and all madden to form the perfect setting. That would be the perfect challenge.

  18. In a book entitled, "Mathletics" author John D.Barrow states it is statistically proven if you chose the side of the coin facing up you are more likely to win the toss. Should this be factual why are the coins at all levels of football viewable in the referees hand? Think what the consequences could be at college and pro levels. The coin should be hidden from view.
