  1. I agree with you all ther way....its too soon to judge.

..but if his career ended now....'no'

Until the last couple of years..Drew Brees wasnt a Hall-of-Fame candidate..

there's only 3 Hall-of-Fame QBs now playing if the vote was today..

Peyton Mannng, Drew Brees and Tom Brady....

    Well said.

  2. What have you done for me lately? That's how the league is now. Eli needs several more years of elite play. Too many other brink QBs. I saw a segment on ESPN right after the SB. Two out of three analysts said Eli now has the better better out of him and Peyton. The same two also said, that in a game for their life, they would choose Eli. The other analyst, I like to call him "Mr. Sanity" realized that it isn't all about rings. Is Bill Russel (11 NBA championships in 13 year career) better than MJ? Or Kobe? Nope. Championships have too much weight in the NFL, which is much more of a team sport than basketball. /rantoff

    Couldn't agree more.

  3. Phil Simms said that Eli Manning is a hall of famer right now. I personally think he will be with just a few more good seasons, but right now I dont know how you could put him up there. There's not enough seasons for him yet, and not enough consistency.

The 2 SB rings are great, but outside of this year, he's never had a really good season.

I dont really know why we're looking at his hof status now as he isnt injured and will continue to play for more years, but let's roll with it. What do you all say?

  4. I don't think the Eagles are gonna give up on him after one season.

    They should: He's pretty awful.

He'll be 3rd string this year most likely. If colts were willing to trade a 4th or 5th and 6th they would probably trade him right away.

  5. It's FUNNY how the Eagles "Claimed" that their Secondary was "Crowded". That's what they said when they Traded Asante Samuels. But yet they Drafted CB Brandon Boykin in the Draft & now taking one of our CB's? Hmmmm, seems Fishy to Me

They just didn't want Asante anymore. He was causing them to put DRC out of position. The eagles are actually very solid at corner and are just looking for depth. A good trade though for the colts imo.

  6. The players chose to give all the power to the commissioner. It's too late to complain now. The commissioner is doing his job, very well imo. Brees should focus on doing his. If you dont do anything wrong, you wont get in trouble. Not that hard. And the former GM and the owner have already admitted there was a bounty program. The Nfl is also a business, not everything has to be open to the public.

Anyway, after looking at the jets schedule, I think they have a realistic shot. Two teams out of the afc east this year imo.

  7. This is cute:

    PEYTON THE PRANKSTER

In between drills, Manning grabbed two water bottles to bring to the crowd. Little did the fans know, he loosened up the cap on one of them.

So he threw one bottle to a young fan and demonstrated that he should tilt his head all the way back and take a sip. He did, the crowd cheered, and the fan threw the bottle back. Then Peyton handed the rigged bottle to another young fan — and he got doused.

    Andrew, 11, laughed right away.

“That was fun,” he smiled. “It was refreshing.”

    “I’ll remember that until I’m 78.”

    haha nice.

I guess the fan must not have seen the welker prank at the pro bowl by peyton.

  8. QB: Peyton Manning, Peyton's twins (looking down the road)

    RB: Sanders, Brown, Peterson

    Wr: Moss, Calvin, Rice, Fitz

    Te: Gronk, Grahm, Gates

    Pats o-line from 2010-2011.

    Kicker: Adam "Clutch" V.

I dont need a defense with this offense :) but here it is anyway:

    Safeties: Bob Sanders, Reed, Dawkins

    Cb: Revis, Champ, Woodson, Asante

Lb: Lewis, Willis, Von miller, Vrabel, Clay Matthews, Ware, Shaun Lee (Cowboys LB)

D-line: White, Strahan, Wilfork, Seymour, Peppers

Punter: Mr. Pat "I think I'll go for a swim in the river"

  9. Like I said, I understand the ill-will, but I don't think the individuals remaining deserve to be punished if they didn't have anything to do with the scandal. I don't see what Brees has done wrong. I think I agree with what the commissioner is doing here, but he is very high and mighty, and there's not enough transparency with the way he handles punishment.

I don't consider the Saints having a good season to be a reward. I consider it to be the fruits of their labor. I doubt they have a very good season with Payton, but if they did, I'd say the remaining guys deserve it. They worked hard, they had nothing to do with the scandal, and they won their games.

You're all entitled to your feeling and opinions. I don't mean to belittle them. I just don't agree. I get being mad at the people who did wrong, or allowed wrong to be done, but when is it enough?

That's all. No big. Sorry to derail the thread.

Brees hasn't shut up. That's what he's done "wrong" imo. It's time to let this go. Your team did something wrong, was proven guilty, and now has to pay the penalty. So shut up, stop attacking the commissioner, and worry about playing football now that you're done holding out since you've got your money. It's one thing to stick up for a friend/teammate/etc. But when you are consistently doing it after it's been proven they were wrong, that's just arrogance imo.

I also wonder if Brees didn't know, or just didn't want to know (plausible deniability). If you're the outspoken and definitive leader on the team, how could you have no clue at all, especially when the league even told your team it was investigating back in 2009.

    Just my opinion.

  10. actually he is a four time super bowl winner... Thanks to the iron curtain defense and one heck of a running game...

Marvin had 3 times as many catches, 3 times the yardage, and almost 3 times the tds,

My mistake. Meant to say four time SB winner, who showed up huge in the SB three times (that first SB he didnt do anything). He put up amazing numbers in the last three SB wins; you have to attribute the steeler's success to him as well. And Swann played in a way different era and offense, and for fewer years than Marvin. All that has to be considered.

Like I said, I dont believe Swann is better than Marvin, but Swann was a great receiver of his time and belongs in the conversation.

  11. Swann also is a three time SB champion, who personally showed up in the big game every time. Let's not act like he doesn't have credentials to be in the discussion of the top 10 receivers of all time.

  12. Lynn Swann wouldn't make the HOF with those stats in this era. Not trying to say he shouldn't be there, but the fact that he is doesn't make him better than the guys we're talking about.

If he played in this era, he would most likely have better stats and would make the hof. Not saying he is definitively better than the guys we're mentioning, I personally dont think he's better than the main ones we've mentioned, but when you're talking about a top 10 list of all time, you're really only dealing with hall of famers.

  13. Swann played for only 8 years... 336 catches and 5000+ yards with 50 tds doesnt get you on any top ten list

It got him in the Hof, which almost every receiver we've put in the top 10 discussion can't say yet.

  14. I'll make the same argument I make when Pats fans talk about Brady's postseason stats compared to Manning's: It's completely unreasonable to grade a player based on a tiny percentage of his games against the best competition in the league. Marvin played 190 games, and you're grading him based on 8.4% of those games. As a matter of fact, this is even more unfair for a receiver than it is for a quarterback, because the receiver can't produce if the quarterback can't get him the ball. Marvin wasn't great in the playoffs, but I reject the notion that this somehow makes him a lesser player.

Manning's and Brady's postseason stats are very similar, there isnt much difference there between the two. I do agree though it's not entirely fair to judge Marvin on his playoff stats, but when we're talking about the greatest wide receivers ever, I think the playoffs can be used as one factor in separating the greats from on another. You could also argue that while Marvin doesn't have great playoff stats, he has a ring. Moss, TO, Carter can't say that.

  15. Calvin Johnson at this moment is not better in legacy than Harrison. If Fitz isnt yet, then Calvin certainly isnt. The only active receiver in the conversation is Moss.

It's Rice unanimously. Then, imo Moss (not saying I would definitely take him over marvin, but legacy wise his is greater than marvin, same with TO). Hutson. TO. Then Swan/Marvin. Carter is somewhere in the top 10.

Fitz imo will crack the top 10 in three years, and in 5 years will probably be in the top 5.

  16. Pass happy league or not, Marvin Harrison played in the same league that Jerry Rice played in. To suggest in any way, shape, or form, that Harrison would have Rice-like numbers if only he had had Montana and Young is simply ludicrous. It's laughable.

Harrison had Peyton Freaking Manning. People here will go to war if anyone even hints that they think that ANYONE is better than Peyton Manning. And someone thinks the only thing holding Marvin Harrison back from having better numbers is who he had at quarterback.

It's simply not credible. There's not an ounce of logic in it. And to post it here on a Colts fan board is beyond belief.

In an attempt to inflate Marvin Harrison, the poster has insulted Peyton Manning. That's how wrong-headed this was......

Hey, I've been posting on fan message boards since before 2000. I've made my fair share of posts that I've regretted. We all do. It's just human nature. I've had egg on my face or had to eat crow plenty. Comes with the territory.

But this one? This was a whopper!

    This.

Infinite thumbs up to you sir

  17. Rice, Moss, TO, Hutson were all better. 5-10 gets tricker imo b/c of different eras and different offenses. Harrison was very good but not top 4. He's somewhere from 5-10. Looking ahead to 5 years, I think Fitz will take over the #2 or #3 spot.

  18. I understand what you mean, but I think Cam will one day be good enough to win one. He has all the talent in the world, and it sure helps to have Steve Smith out there as a receiver too.

Maybe one day he could. But I agree with you that he does have all the talent in the world. And I amend what I said about Cam not being a good qb now or ever will be one. I think he could be a good qb one day, just not a championship caliber one. But that's why they play the game :)

And yes Smith does help haha.
