  1. A very good explanation there SupremeColtsfan300, but how can a person directly tie a corporation to their spouse's tragic fatality even in civil court. He could have had his cardiac episode anywhere: At home, at the bank, or driving down the road in his car. The argument itself is really a minor point. It's about the blockage of bloodflow to the heart that can transpire with or without stress.

According to the woman, her husband died of cardiac arrest. Your last sentence does not define cardiac arrest, it actually defines a heart attack. This is the American Heart Association's definition:

"The term 'heart attack' is often mistakenly used to describe cardiac arrest. While a heart attack may cause cardiac arrest and sudden death, the terms don't mean the same thing. Heart attacks are caused by a blockage that stops blood flow to the heart. A heart attack (or myocardial infarction) refers to death of heart muscle tissue due to the loss of blood supply, not necessarily resulting in the death of the heart attack victim.

Cardiac arrest is caused when the heart's electrical system malfunctions. In cardiac arrest, death results when the heart suddenly stops working properly."

Now when the body is stressed, it releases stress hormones into the blood, and that can cause both heart attacks and cardiac arrest.  I'd imagine that the woman is going to argue that had that stressful interaction between her husband and the employee never occurred, her husband's body never would have gotten into such a stressful state, which (according to her claim) ultimately triggered the cardiac arrest that killed him.

  2. I think the Pats players are better looking (honestly). I believe Kraft tells Bill he can get players as long as they are good looking for marketing purposes, i.e. Brady, Tebow, and now Amendola who is better looking than Welker IMO.

Now your Colts? Eeesh. I love Andrew (he is a stud QB in the making for sure) but he could def. double for the caveman on the Geico commercials.

No way. Andrew looks great now that he's shaved that horrible beard he had during last season. And I don't think you can talk when Brady was rocking that absurd haircut back in 2011.

On the colts/patriots comparison in my last post, I was just trolling haha Yeah the Pats WRs are looking pretty good, and that TE Sudfeld looks like a great replacement for Aaron.

  3. This was supposed to be a Denver/Pats thread and it turned into Colts/Denver in my absence. Fabulous debate!

Then let's get this thread back to where it should be. Colts/patriots. Andrew Luck is better than Brady, has better recievers, and has better tight ends. What say you!

  4. Kellen Moore, trade bait anyone?

I loved Moore at Boise, had such great anticipation and accuracy. I still think he can be a starting Nfl quarterback if he got the right qb coach and O coordinator. He'll have to always overcome that arm strength issue though.

  5. Her suit has merit. I doubt she'll get all 10 million, but she will probably get some of it. The organization is in all likelihood legally responsible for its employees and the actions of its employees while at the team stadium.

Criminally speaking, a person could be charged with involuntary manslaughter if said person unintentionally and without malice caused a heart attack that resulted in the death of another individual. (For example, if you pulled a prank, and I do mean just a prank, on someone and that prank resulted in him having a heart attack and dying, you could be charged with involuntary manslaughter.)

The same logic can be applied here. The employee (and through him the Team) can be shown to be responsible for the man's death if this can be proved true: "Jeff Chartier died as a result of cardiac arrest that was precipitated by agitation and stress caused by an interaction with a security guard at Gillette Stadium who inappropriately and unnecessarily confronted Jeff Chartier and his son Tedy in a harsh, unprofessional, confrontational, disrespectful and antagonistic manner."

I'm not saying she's right or wrong with bringing the suit, I personally think our country has a problem with suing every time it's applicable, but this suit does have a legal case and will go before the civil court.

  6. This is a no win situation. The hit is legal so offensive players are going to have to jump more I guess. It is amazing how many current and former players said they would rather have the concussion then the knee injury given all the data on the long term effects of concussions ....

Completely agree. Players need to realize that knee injuries will probably take away their playing careers at most. Head injuries will eventually take away their playing careers, but more importantly, they will take away their post-career time. Being screwed up in the head is one of the worst things I can imagine.

  7. I'd like to see a lot more No Huddle this year. I think Andrew is ready for it, and the young receiving core should have a greater mastery of the playbook this year and should be capable of adjusting on the fly.

  8. Pac56,

You make some great points my friend, but to me, if anything impedes Denver's SB aspirations this season it will be because of HC John Fox. He isn't a risk taker & he has no step on your opponent's throat instinct at all. Last season against the Ravens proved that. Can Fox change? It's not in his nature. Fox is a play it safe guy plain & simple. There is no daredevil inside of him.

Whole-heartedly agree. You have the Greatest Quarterback of all time imo playing for you. You have very good receivers. You need to go for that juggler and take risks. Fox is probably best suited for a quarterback like Alex Smith, a game manager. Guys like BB, Sean Payton, and McCarthy are best suited for Peyton and his offense. Fox's timid coaching philosophy probably wont be an issue until those shootout games, where you really need those extra points.

  9. You could be right Dustin except for 1 thing with Von Miller gone for 6 games is LB Shaun Phillips good enough to hold down the fort in Miller's absence? No, not to me he isn't. That's the problem SW1 has. The production at that position goes from stout to a significant drop off...

Von Miller + Phillips = Okay

Phillips + Ayers = No Pass Rush

  10. I hope you're right FX. Timing may be in Denver's favor calendar wise, but Peyton needs all hands on deck. 18 can't win games all by himself anymore. RB Hillman can't hold onto the ball [seattle Preseason game] & I need to see a few more games to ascertain if Ball can actually block in pass protection or not. With no ground game, Manning is toast.

I would disagree that Peyton can't win games all by himself anymore. His running game last year was non-existent for the most part, and yet I would argue Peyton played at a higher level than he has since 2004. However, if Ball continues to block like he did in Seattle, that could literally get Peyton killed.

  11. I seen Wolfe was knocked out. Seriously injured. He was cutblock then knocked out by the fullback. He was down on the field for close to 10 minutes. Heard it was a dirty play also.

There's been a lot of "dirty" plays by seattle tonight. Wolfe was down for what seemed like forever. Reminded me of the Collie concussions.

  12. I do think Cousins has a shot at starting for the redskins sometime during the year. RG3 relies a lot on the read-option offense and those hits will eventually start to break him down like Vick. He didnt have to make many reads last year. While RG3 is a better passer than Vick, Cousins is better than both imo. What separates RG3 is his speed, we'll see if that lasts though as he continues to get hit.

  13. The funny thing is if luck did throw for 40 tds all the experts will be like I didn't see that coming. On another note has a qb ever gone thr whole season without throwing a int

Nope. The best was Brady in 2010 with just 4 TDs. That's for QBs who played in all 16 games.

  14. lol, well its true.

We have a tough schedule. On top of the obvious tough games, SF, Den, Sea, Hou....StL, Mia, KC aren't push overs.....SD will be our teams first primetime game, Who knows what Ari team shows up...And our division while not the best, always plays us well.....

Your division point is so accurate. Just take Jacksonville. They beat us the first game in a shocker. In 2011, they sweep, I repeat sweep us, even though Houston and Tenn could not do that. In 2010, they beat us in that 31-28 game. Even in 2009, the near-perfect season, the first game it was close, 14-12, and the second game was 35-31, with us winning both but always close. In 2008, they beat us the first game 23-21. In none of those seasons was Jacksonville above .500 yet they still competed well against us. You can never know how those division games will go for sure.

  15. Somewhere between 7-9 and 9-7...Win a couple we shouldn't, lose a couple we shouldn't.

I can see losses to SD, KC, Ari, Hou, SF, Sea, Den, StL, and Cincy..... And who knows about teams like Mia, Jax, and Tenn, which is our entire schedule.

    lol wow my thoughts exactly

  16. KING: What will you be doing in 15 years?

MANNING: That’s a good question. A very good question. [Pauses for six seconds ...] You know, a lot of times you’re in the locker room, and you hear guys talking about some investment or some appearance they’re gonna make, and how much money they’re gonna get from it, and I’m looking at them, thinking, That’s the guy who dropped two balls in practice today, or,That’s the guy who missed that block Sunday. The point is, this is what I do now

Favorite part for me. Peyton only concentrating on the imperfections that occurred during a practice or a game is......just so classic Peyton.

  17. I tried NFL RedZone for awhile back when I had Dish TV & I detested it. All it did was show TDs across the league. Not designed for fans who wanna see full games; it just catered to fantasy football & gambling addicts IMO.

I think it excels at what it's supposed to do. It's purpose is to show you every TD that happens on Sunday, including all the other big plays. And at around 3:30pm and 6:30 pm it provides more drama than anything I've ever seen. You get to witness every close finish and it makes those boring games (any game involving the Jets) interesting and exciting. I prefer to watch full games, but I could never watch every full game on Sunday, there's just not enough hours in that one day to do so.

  18. I especially love that you can watch every play of any game in 30 min. I don't need to see and hear everything between plays for teams I don't root for.

I completely agree. I don't get why they haven't made that condensed feature also for the games in the previous seasons. Only thing I don't like with Rewind is that the picture quality goes in and out while I'm watching it, and I seem to only be able to get max video quality for the 2012 season games.

  19. Revive his career?  Do decently in limited playing time in Green Bay, boost your trade stock, then the Pack trade him in the offseason to a QB needy team?

I don't think there will be much playing time for him this year. I expect GreenBay to be in some tight games this year and they'll need Rodgers all the way. I honestly can't see a team wanting to trade for VY either. He'll be 30-31 this year, and hasn't had the best reputation in this league. Not a great team guy. I do think GreenBay has a lot of weapons (many of which get underrated) but  I don't think VY is the guy to get them the ball. A puzzling move imo.

  20. I just renewed it and get to go back and watch any of lasts years games while I wait for the season to start. I think it's awesome for the diehard fan. Anyone else?

Yup just renewed mine the other day. I get the complete package to watch every team. It's the greatest football invention after RedZone.

  21. I really think Austin is going to light up the league this year. He'll win rookie of the year, and if the Rams use him right, he should be a pro bowler. If you haven't seen Austin play, I strongly encourage you to watch the YouTube video "Only One (Tavon Austin Senior Highlights)". The kid is explosive, dynamic, lightning quick. I'm not really sold on Bradford, but I think Austin is the perfect weapon for him. Should be fun to watch STL vs the rest of the NFC West.
