Anyone wanting the #1 overall pick tomorrow, just send me a message. It's definitely up for sale.

Ha! Good to know! I'll go ahead and re-read the rules now.
And I guess I can always trade the #1 overall. I'm pretty sure Kyler Murray is going to go #1 overall, and it would be a shame if our mock couldn't reflect that.

Awesome!!! More the participation, the better.
Much appreciated!
Now is anyone in the market for a gently-used UCLA quarterback?
I'm looking at you, @Matthew Gilbert...

I'll join this time around, if you don't mind.
May I please have the Cardinals?

I think Coby did a great job for us.

Wilkins, Abram, and Samuel I have in just about the same spots. I have a LB in the 4th although it’s a different player, and I had Kaden Smith. Great minds think alike!!!
Nice job
Hopefully we've both glimpsed the future!

So, barring any signings over the next month, we're going into the draft with no major needs but plenty of positions that could be improved. That, paired with Ballard being much better at finding talent than myself, makes this draft one of the most unpredictable in my recent memory. Depending on who falls, I could see us going DE, DT, CB, S, WR, or even TE or RB in the first. With that in mind, I have the first round going something like this:
1. Cardinals - Kyler Murray - QB Oklahoma
2. 49ers - Quinnen Wiliams - DT Alabama
3. Jets - Nick Bosa - DE OSU
4. Raiders - Josh Allen - EDGE Kentucky
5. Buccaneers - Devin White LB LSU
6. Giants - Rashan Gary - DE Michigan
7. Jaguars - Jawaan Taylor - T Florida
8. Lions - Montez Sweat - DE Mississippi State
9. Bills - Ed Oliver - DT Houston
10. Broncos - Drew Lock - QB Missouri
11. Bengals - Andre Dillard - T Washington State
12. Packers - TJ Hockenson - TE Iowa
13. Dolphins - Dwayne Haskins - QB OSU
14. Falcons - Clelin Ferrell - DE Clemson
15. Redskins - DK Metcalf - WR Ole Miss
16. Panthers - Jonah Williams - G Alabama
17. Giants - Marquise Brown - WR Oklahoma
18. Vikings - Dalton Risner - T Kansas State
19. Titans - Dexter Lawrence - NT Clemson
20. Steelers - Greedy Williams - CB LSU
21. Seahawks - Byron Murphy - CB Washington
22. Ravens - Brian Burns - EDGE FSU
23. Texans - Cody Ford - G Oklahoma
24. Raiders - Josh Jacobs - RB Alabama
25. Eagles - Devin Bush - LB Michigan
26.Colts - Christian Wilkins - DT Clemson
27. Raiders - Jeffery Simmons - DT Mississippi State
28. Chargers - Deandre Baker - CB Georgia
29. Chiefs - Jaylon Ferguson - EDGE Louisiana Tech
30. Packers - AJ Brown - WR Ole Miss
31. Rams - Garrett Bradbury - C NC State
32. Patriots - Noah Fant - TE Iowa
Yes, I see Christain Wilkins falling to us. Yes, I see the Titans going with Lawrence over Wilkins (he's a better fit at NT for their 3-4). Yes, I see the Giants getting a QB in round 2 instead of round 1 (Daniel Jones).
1. Christian Wilkins - DT Clemson
Great player, great character, team leader; everything you want in a first-round pick.
2. Jonathan Abram - S Mississippi State
Gives us a great three-safety lineup. This wouldn't be my pick, but I think it will be Ballard's.
2. Deebo Samuel - WR South Carolina
Great short-intermediate option while TY and Funchess stretch the field.
3. Joe Jackson - DE Miami
Strength to bull rush or set the edge.
4. Germaine Pratt - OLB NC State
Converted free safety with plus coverage skills. Needs to improve block shedding, but would be great in our swarming defense.
4. Derwin Gray - OT Maryland
Can already pass block to protect the franchise, and Mudd can teach him how to run block.
5. Saivion Smith - CB Alabama
Good size and not afraid to support the run.
6. Kaden Smith - TE Stanford
I will never NOT trust a Stanford TE.
7. Nate Herbig - OG Stanford
Run blocking specialist to come in on short-yardage plays.
That gives us a lineup something like:
QB - Andrew Luck, Jacoby Brissett
RB - Marlon Mack, Jordan Wilkins, Nyheim Hines
WR1 - TY Hilton, Deon Cain
WR2 - Devin Funchess, Daurice Fountain
WRslot - Deebo Samuel
TE1 - Eric Ebron, Mo Allie-Cox
TE2 - Jack Doyle, Kaden Smith
LT - Anthony Costanzo, Derwin Gray
LG - Quenton Nelson, Joe Haeg
C - Ryan Kelly, Evan Boehm
RG - Mark Glowinski, Nate Herbig
RT - Braden Smith, Le'Raven Clark
DE - Justin Houston, Kemoko Turray, Al-Quadin Muhammed
DT - Christian Wilkins, Margus Hunt
DT - Denico Autry, Tyquan Lewis, Jihad Ward
DE - Jabaal Sheard, Joe Jackson
SLB - Germaine Pratt, Matthew Adams
MLB - Anthony Walker, Zaire Franklin
WLB - Darius Leonard, Skai Moore
CB1 - Pierre Desir, Jalen Collins
CB2 - Quincy Wilson, Saivion Smith
CBslot - Kenny Moore
FS - Malik Hooker - George Odum
SS - Clayton Geathers, Jonathan Abram, Matthias Farley

Let me know what you think!

Here are some really strange things to me...
-Newton improved his accuracy a bunch last year (67+%), and Funchess's catch rate and drop rate got even worse
How much of this can be attributed to a focus being placed on shorter throws to McCaffrey?

WILL: Darius Leonard, Bobby Okereke, Anthony Winbush
MIKE: KJ Wright, Anthony Walker Jr., Skai Moore
SAM: Matthew Adams, Zaire FranklinWell done. I wouldn't mind that offseason at all.
If we picked up Wright, I think we'd probably have him play SAM. Leonard, Walker, and Wright would be our best three LBs; and they'd probably be on the field at the same time.

5.3 yards per reception
Are we throwing this stat out there and pretending it's impressive? Even for a RB, that seems low.

Zeitler is a redundancy. An expensive one at that. They drafted Corbett last year, and they expect him to start.

What if he was 5'11" instead of 6'4"?
I don't really understand your intentions here. It's already well known that bigger WRs have an advantage IF ALL OTHER VARIABLES ARE EQUAL. If everything else stays the same, but we take away one of his strengths, his value is obviously going to decline.
What if he was 7'4" and could palm a Volkswagen?

Maybe he'll do the same this year. Maybe we won't be the highest bidder. But we will offer good money.
Here's the passage.... note, this is a 3-year sample size. That's considerable.
He might not be a household name, but since the start of the 2016 season, Williams has averaged more yards per reception (15.9) than all but six pass-catchers in the NFL (minimum 43 catches). He might be the best big (6-foot-4) deep threat approaching the market.
I completely agree with you that Williams is going to get $PAID$ this year. I think you're right that he won't even call back any team that starts with an offer under $10mil/yr.
That being said, I think many people are worried that this is a relatively weak year for WRs in free agency. Williams "might be the best" NOT because he displays overwhelming talent, but because there is a lack of talent in his competition. This leads to the very real possibility of him being overpaid. Just because it will take $13mil/yr to sign him does not mean that he will produce on the same level as other WRs making $13mil/yr. That is especially worrisome when there are plenty of prospects in this year's draft with similar play styles and possibly more upside. I will not be upset or surprised if Ballard sets an upper limit on his offer no matter how much Reich and Siriani bang the table for this guy. They both wanted Inman, but Ballard chose not to sign him until it was obvious our lack of WR talent was holding back the team.
THAT being said, I would entirely be on board if the brain trust signs this man. I still remember Luck throwing to AJ Green in the 2013 Pro Bowl, and I think someone with the size of Williams could give us that kind of weapon.

Didn't we hear the same thing about Sheard?
Pretty sure Ballard is on the phone with Sheard before the day is over, asking him about Collins.
-
I have to assume that this man knows he won't be playing on his current contract. He's going to be traded (and a renegotiation will be part of the trade) or he will be cut and have to sign for less somewhere else. We're talking about a 28 year old (not 29 until October) DE with prototype size who has proven he can be a lead rusher for a team. I would wait until the TAG window is closed; and if Clowney, Ford, and Lawrence are all tagged I would be extremely interested in this. If he won't renegotiate, don't trade for him and wait for him to be cut.

Now I know why Gilette razors cost so much.

We need more than two starting-caliber safeties. 'Flus liked the multiple safety sets.

I thought the trade for Howard was interesting. I didn't realize he was on the block. Miami might be needing a new QB as well, and Flores and Chad O'Shea are familiar with Brissett.

Lose the asterisk.

Why does this mock make me think of Grigson so much? It's like he's over-thinking each and every pick.

I really like this mock. I think you resigned the correct dudes and Jarrett and Roby would be awesome signings. From your draft, I think Murphy, Campbell, Hooker, and Renfrow. However, there's very little chance that Mullen drops to the 4th especially after the showing he had against Bama.
Thanks! I'm worried that both my 4th rounders won't make it. Apparently Hanks is doing well in the practices this week. I'll probably have to choose new prospects for my next try. That's part of the fun of these, though; it's fun to see how players rise and fall. I think a lot of us wanted Leighton Vander Esch in the third this time last year (I know I did).

One thing about having two Hookers at safety, they will make the opposing team pay!
But do we want hookers that make our opponents pay on the back end? Wouldn't it be better if they made them pay up front? Where are all the Hooker D-linemen?

There are so many possibilites.
