Yes, Doyle will play Fleener's role dot dot dot

Every time I see this guy I laugh. What a great clip. As a Colts fan I know I've had that look a few times in my life.

  2. Cole was a garbage signing, but I feel Johnson could have definitely been useful if they had utilized him better if the season had gone as planned.

Yes he wasn't the guy of 5 years ago, but Luck getting injured and changing OC's midseason made for a cluster **** season for the majority of our offense in general.

He could have definitely been useful if all went as planned. It was definitely a  case of 'it wasn't meant to be'.

    That's because their OFFENSE. SUCKS.

The defense (and special teams) carried Denver's pathetic offense in every damn game apart from Green Bay. GB was the one game where the O ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTED their share to getting the W. The result was a royal pounding.

If Denver's offense played AVERAGE in every game, Denver would be 19-0 blowing teams out of the water every week.

You can believe they'd go undefeated, but that's not reality. They gave up mid 20's (points) against us and Cleveland and 35  I think in their loss to Pitt.

They were awesome, but not an all time great. Offense aside.

  4. I'd say no. People jump on a story real quick nowadays. They were very good, but they weren't an all time great.

They lost to us and the Raiders and needed OT to beat the Browns. An all time great wouldn't have lost to us or the Raiders during the season.

Yes they had struggles on O, but they aren't an all time great. Very good D, but not all time category.

  5. I think it was more of him hoping it would pop back up and he was envisioning taking off after that.

Honestly I think it was just a case of not realizing the game situation on his part. He was thinking of making a play instead of 'oh man I HAVE to get on this fumble or we are done'...

Just a dumb play honestly, not trying to rag on him, but that was just a time where he should have been thinking of keeping possession instead of making a play.

  6. There's almost no premier talent on our D and that's straight fact. For what he's had player wise, he's definitely not a glaring problem that's for sure.

Our O didn't help them at all this year and they finished .500, I think that's decent so I can't hate on the guy.

The compensation would have been high about 4-5 yrs ago.  I don't see anyone giving up a 1 for Payton right now.

That's my thinking. Even that 2nd rd compensation now floating around now is only what NO 'wants', but that doesn't mean they're going to get it.

Payton has all the power here. Stay and get paid while just going through the motions or tell management to take a particular offer that's best for his future.

Can he refuse a trade? Not sure how it works with coaches and draft picks. Pretty sure he'd have to be on board or he can just say no thanks, I'll just show up and get paid the next two years and not stress about winning. Show up on Sunday and just finish this contract out.

  8. Just random thoughts without any particular order or direction.

Freeman should get an invite for qb#2.

Gore can stay or go but we might have to pick a rb kind of high, not first rd.

We haven't had a dynamic back since edge. Gore can mentor and split the work.

WR's are set and I'd keep AJ one more year. He's going to better than any wr3 or 4 that may be out there. Part of me also feels he was totally misused this season by the coaches.

Te I'm ok with fleener even with his faults. He always plays even though Allen may be the better player, but injuries and our coaches inability to get much going with our te's this year was nerve racking.

Oline needs help at G,C,G. OT could be handled by AC, Mewhort if coached up, Good and a draft pick or udfa.

D needs pass rushing and secondary help.

May not be able to address all positions in one offseason, but if they can somehow let's say get a G,C and one OLB, they'll definitely be much improved. Not perfect, but much better shape.

  9. I was more then happy when I heard 18, people act like it's equivalent to picking 200th.

There will 100% be a great day one starter there if you know how to pick.

You actually have the chance now to realistically trade up also if you think there's a can't miss stud available a couple spots up. We can even move a couple spots down if someone is willing to offer a haul for droppinga  couple spots.

We are in a very solid spot actually. Granted it's not too 5 or anything, but we shoulde easily acquire a solid player at that spot.

Gruden's last year or two (can't remember if it was just one year after winning it all or if it was two) were awful.  He lost players, the team was falling apart at the seams, just general bad-ness (as I recall).  So not sure what caused the decay and decline but I bet someone remembers that or can look it up (I'm too upset at our season right now to look it up).

They were definitelyh headingt towards cap hell towardst he end of his tenure.

Also people forget Tampa gave up something like 2 firsts and 2 seconds and possibly more I think to acquire him. That will definitely put a dent in the talent you can obtain.

What they did was ride it into the ground. Similar to someone driving a car until the wheels fell off. That train wreck at the end was most likely going to happen regardless of who was at the helm because of bad cap and draft pick handling.

I honestly don't believe that Saban would be that bad of a hire.  Sure he had a bad go with the Dolphins but I would hope that he learned from his mistakes there.  I don't like the idea of Payton though.  The Saints will want draft picks and that's something we just can't afford to give up.

The compensation doesn't have to be massive honestly. They (NO) have no leg to stand on knowing they could potentially have a coach who doesn't want to be there and he could just show up for the next two years and go through the motions (if they have that conversation, it means he's thought of jumping ship already). If I'm NO, I don't want a guy running my team who doesn't want to be there.

I'd think they'd take a fair compensation offer, no one sane would offer them 1st rounders for him.

Getting back on topic, he'd be fantastic for our O if we could somehow have a guy who could run the D without much help from Payton. Hypothetically speaking a Payton/Wade Phillips type deal I could totally understand.

  12. I'd understand if Irsay went with a retread successful coach honestly.

There are a lot of unproven first time candidates and unsuccessful retreads out there, but I'd totally understand if he brought in a proven winner, even if it's a guy that's been away from the game.

Someone who understands and knows already what it takes to win and will have no learning curve.

  13. People would complain if we got the tenth pick if we could have gotten the eighth pick or the fifth if we could have gotten the third.

We could have just lost them all and gotten the first pick with that logic.

18th is a spot every year folks on here complain they wish they could of had compared to the late 20's where we normally pick. So stop with the 'oh we could have had the12th pick' or whatnot.

Being just below the halfway point in rd 1 is more than high enough if you know what you're doing drafting (that's an entirety different horse) to get a good player to start immediately.

  14. I'm also in the letting him go camp. He's a good professional guy and a leader type, but we really need difference makers again for this D.

Their aren't any young Freeney's, Mathis's or Bob Sanders on this team. Aka difference makers. We need them at every level of the D.

We can't just try and coach up mediocre or average talent.

I like the guy, but he isn't anything close to irreplaceable.
