I remember Manning, Marvin and Edge being interviewed together and he asked them about the 3 amigos nickname. Marvin became known for being a junk food junkie. Etc...
I have a black and white photo (i cut from a magazine) that i framed. I think it was from SI. Anyway, its Manning, Marvin, and Edge sitting against a wall in uniform (no helmets). A verynatural looking moment. Edge is flipping a football to himself. It may be my favorite Colts or football -related picture of all time. They are so young and it is before any of them had any real NFL success.
Having the 3 sign that would put a smile on my face for a year! I have an autographed Unitas pic that i watched his beaten, battered, painful fingers sign for me with a smile.
It is very special to me (connects me to him), and almost brings a tear to my eye when i look at it. He was so kind and “real” the couple times i met him. I would see him in the bowels of Memorial as a child almost every game i went to. It was not uncommon to see past Colt greats walk past you in Memorial. I think Unitas did radio at the time i was going yo games there. Seemed like Lenny Moore or Lydell would pop up often too. Roger Carr was a favorite i’d bump into often in “the halls”.

Watch EJ's 1999 rookie highlights on youtube. And Greg Gumble calling the Colts games brings back great memories.
I have better. Have ALL the games on DVD. From 1998 to present (all games). Plus 2 - 4 games/ year in prior years, like the playoff run in ‘95.

Edgerrin James made the difference. I recently watched a lot of that season and as the season wore on, it became obvious that both the Colts and defenses saw that he was a special player.
He didn't have enough deep speed to really be a home run threat, but he had the ability to turn any run play into a field position flip of 40 yards. You can see that defenses were starting to account for him, and it still didn't matter, he eluded tackles and broke arm tackles on his way to more yardage. He was the key player in those years.
And don't forget, the Colts were 6 and 10 for one season when they still had Manning and Marvin and Reggie, but not Edge. That's what led to the Freeney pick at #11. The Manning and Marvin threat really came after that for the most part, during the Dungy years.
Opened up that deadly play action to Marvin.
Still makes me smile just thinking about it.
And yes, Edge was special.

The main thing i’m noticing is Luck was no Manning. Even a 2nd year Manning.
How people dont see him as the GOAT is beyond me. Wins are great but Manning defines one of a kind. Amazing what he did at the line.

Dilger, Pathon, and EG Green along with Manning and Edge.
Man i miss those days. We were so lucky to witness it.

First play of game 1 (vs Bills), Tyrone Poole hits Thurman Thomas (pass from Flutie) with a fierce hit, knocking him out of game and , if i remember, effectively Ending Thomas’ career.

With all the QB hoopla around here, and the uncertainty of the draft, FA....coupled with Edge’s recent accomplishment, i have decided how to beat the craziness.
I’m gonna watch the 1999 season start to finish. Maybe even preseason. A rookie Edge, coupled with a young Marvin and Manning in his 2nd year. Just 3 kids playing a game. The switch from 3-13 to 13-3. And the start of something special.
Cant wait.- 7

I’ll take anyone from Alabama helping with this team.
That Gump fella’ is great at kick returns.

Hopefully he can “cook up” some QB pressure.
Throw in a lil extra yeast to help their talent “rise.”

I know. I was agreeing with your golf analogy.
Haha.
no wonder none of my long-distance text-based relationships have worked.
Apparently I’m text illiterate.

To the bolded..... It's like if you just look at the QB performances in the game, Mahomes clearly outplayed JB even with his injury. He had a better QBR, better passer rating, more than double the yards, 1/0 TD-INT (vs 0/1 for JB).
Saying JB was the winning QB is kind of like handicapping.... The team won, but his contribution was a very small one.
Im NOT saying JB played better.
I’m saying Mahomes can have a “bad day” and still out-play many QBs on a good day. Luck and Manning could too. They could play bad all day, then Seemingly flip a switch when needed most.

the difference is Mahomes is an mvp and JB cant even average 200 per game when healthy
Jacobys injury didnt change much imo, he was never that good
With the mvp logic, it would affect JBs Overall game More.
kinda like my golfgame. When i have an off-day, i still beat my comrades because of our starting “gap.” I dont give strokes, if you suck, take up bowling. Handicaps are for girls.
Injuries are injuries and affect their teams regardless of mvp or not. Im not buying that argument.

i cant agree with that, not when PM is an mvp caliber player
they just are not the same when he cant run or throw accurately.
I also think its funny that Mahomes “injury” is a valid excuse for their loss, but JB’s “knee thing” suffered against Pitt was “no excuse” for many.
And i thought we were far more decimated “injury-wise” going into that game than KC was. I really thought we had no chance.
I give Mahomes NO sympathy for his “state” in that game. We had issues too.

Thats part of what you get with him. Or Jackson. They are one play away from getting blown up. Mahomes missed games this year because of his style. I think he’ll learn. Hopefully he doesnt experience too many injuries before he does.

Wow, revisiting this thread, all it really managed to do was bring out all the people who don't realize that another season with Brissett and building talent and depth elsewhere could be best for the team. So long as we can get talented players in the draft, I'll be happy, but I'm afraid at this point that many people on here would melt down if we don't grab a QB in round 1... I'll say it again though, I do kinda like the idea of this Offense.
Yep, nothing changes.
i understand the wanting of the next Manning, But some seem to think they grow on trees.
Its looking to me like the QBs that will be available at #13 do not line up well from a bpa angle. This Somewhat
makes them reaches at #13 , and therefore makes them even bigger risks from a draft-value perspective.
Im ok with whatever happens, but if youdont think you found the future franchise, you dont take a QB at #13 justbecause you dont like the one you have.
Both sides of this “argument” wants to improve the QB position. It just needs to be done intelligently snd responsibly as not to hurt or unnecessarily risk the overall strength of the roster.
QB or not.... reaching will get you in the end. And at #13, That might be the case.
We shall see.

I’m happy to see common sense has prevailed.
A few weeks ago this forum was so polarized on The QB position that arguments were ongoing. Reminded me of our current national divide.
I agree with most posts in this thread.

Edge needs to go on the “nfl network” tour like all these other guys have. Seeing these guys talk football every week keeps them in the forefront of voters’ minds. TOMA to the scholars out there. It sure seems to help.

Me either. I was big on 2Short, NWA, Luke, etc. back in the day... not so hip these days. I did really like the Lil Nas BRC song though lol... Truth be told, I still rock my 80s and 90s playlists.... Speaking of, I think I'll tell Alexa to play me some Dre, Snoop, Biggee, and Tupac... Little California Love coming up...
I have a very vivid and detailed memory of my childhood and college years. Very detailed.
Music is the key trigger. Well, music and other things, but mainly music, haha.
Anyway, post-punk, 80s new wave, dark wave, industrial and, of course, U2 are the “soundtracks” of my most memorable (and formative) college years. I can pop in some Big Audio Dynamite, The Cult, nine inch nails, or Generation X and i’m BACK BABY!!!!!!
Of course, as all my neighbors know, Sunday mornings are reserved for Sinatra. Sometimes Sammy, Dean and the boys come along. Sometimes just Frank.
