  1. How would grey look with blue pants and a white helmet, though?

How about this.....no alternative uniform at all!

I'm certainly ok with no alternate uniform. Home and away are enough for me. If an alternate is needed we could just do a throw back uniform or something.

  2. Actually I like your away idea better than mine, so here's my adjustment:

Home - White Helmet, Blue Jersey, White Pants

Away - White Helmet, White Jersey, Blue Pants

Alternate - White Helmet, Black Jersey, Blue Pants

I'm not sure I like the black jersey on the alternate...if we go with any other color other than our Blue and White, then I guess gray is ok. But no black for me (my opinion only).

I'm with Ohio Colt. The home uniform must stay the same classic look it always has been.

  3. I think if Dallas was healthy, he'd be in Denver with Peyton Manning....

    I think he'd told Manning he's not 100%

I think you are right Mark, he has either told Peyton he's not 100% or that he doesn't want to leave Indy and play for another team...that could be the real reason here. We can't forget, we let Dallas go. Dallas didn't go looking for somewhere else to play. Maybe it simply boils down to Clark doesn't want to be anything other than a Colt and he's holding out hope that there is a chance he will be brought back into the fold...who knows. I could speculate on this all day.

  4. I get your point coltnorth. As has been mentioned already, I believe that the strategy that Pagano is going to use is a hybrid D. We will not "just" be running a 3-4 or a 4-3 or a Tampa 2 (THANK GOD NO MORE OF THIS). No, instead we will be a more active D that is watching what type of play the O is playing, and then we will adjust to counter act that play. Pagano has proved that he knows D and he knows how to run it, so as mentioned already I trust him to get it right. Be prepared to see the hybrid type D that you are wanting to see, cause that's what Pagano is bringing to Indy. I cannot wait to see our Colts actually being allowed to attack, attack, attack. Play after play. No more of the 10 to 15 yards down the field and giving up 5 to 7 yards each play. No, we are going to be fierce and I cannot wait!

  5. And it sounds like all of them were in attendance. Also, player's twitter feeds report that everyone is impressed with the new gym and the atmosphere that Sparano is creating.

I like the sound of that. It's important our new regime (as I like to call our basically all new staff--coaching and FO) create an atmosphere that has our guys excited. Excited players = hard workers, hard workers = thirsty for wins, thirsty for wins = giving 100% in games, 100% in games (+ talent) = wins, wins = playoffs...just saying there is a progression involved.

(please no one interpret this as me saying we will definitely be in the playoffs this year, that is not what I am saying. I'm just saying that success starts with the right attitude.)

  6. What do you think of this? Colts try for Fleener and if they miss then pay Clark pennies to come back. Interesting?

I like it. But what about we go for Fleener and bring Clark back for pennies to help mentor Fleenor and help make the transition from the college game to the NFL easier/smoother?

  7. I still can't help but think that Dallas could be useful to us at vet minimum for a year, The reason I say this is b/c it seems we are going to have some young TE's on our squad, and his knowledge and experience could be helpful to them coming into this league...even if he doesn't play much. Just my opinion.

I do think that he will never play like he used to due to his injuries... ...I would be ok with #44 on the our roster for another year.

Dallas to me is in the top 5 TE's to play in the NFL. Granted that might be high for some, but before his injuries no one could beat him.

  8. I feel I should add a disclaimer after reading some of the previous posts on this thread--this post in no way has anything to do with anybody else's posts made thus far, it just has to do with what the thread is about--changes to the Colts uniform and what I think and would like to see happen.

I personally like our classic look. I don't find it boring, and nor do I think it needs to be "improved" or changed. Something is called classic for a reason. Some teams just need to remain with a classic look. I like that Green Bay isn't going to change. Likewise, I think the Steelers uniform needs to remain the same. As much as it pains me to say this, the Cowboys uniform shouldn't change either. And to me, the Colts uniform falls into this category. So, I'd like to see them stay the same.

Now, that being said, it is absolutely ok that some people want to see them change--it's called an opinion for a reason :D

  9. Never understood why the "offseason" has to be defined at all, to me if it isn't "the season" then it's "the off season."

Only thing I can figure is it's to protect the players from over zealous coaches working them too much.

It's not that the off season is being defined as starting today--you are right, it starts when the season ends--what is being defined is what can and cannot be done and at what times they can be done in. but I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "...to protect the players from over zealous coaches..."

  10. So what you are saying is his only value was his 4 yrs of experience? I guess/hope we have a diamond in the 'ruff' or a rafted stud. Maybe he was wanting too much money too? I was hoping to draft in other areas.

Maybe Pagano just didn't see him being a good fit in his defensive scheme...Or maybe he has his eye on a FA that is going to be brought in soon, and therefore Wheeler was expendable...Or maybe Pagano and Grigson both thought that Wheeler was playing to his full potential and that's why they let him go (although I agree w/ you in that we probably didn't get to see Wheeler's full potential due to the awful D that we ran)...whatever the reason may be, I am with you in that I was hoping to see us focus on other areas in the draft...I'm still looking for a strong TE to be brought in.

  11. In situations like this, the 1st thing that automatically pops into my head is that famous President Nixon Watergate Scandal line: "What did he know & when did he know it?" A 55 page document obtained by the NFL with Panthers TE Jeremy Shockey as 1 of the key players in the documentation of this bounty scheme sounds like compelling evidence to me.

I believe Sean Payton probably got caught up in the toughness mob mentality of the whole situation like the old expression "It is better to be feared than respected & loved" on a football field.

Maybe so, and I'm not saying it was his idea by any means, but if you don't have the kahonas (sp?) to stand up and say "Knock it off" then you will never be the guy who runs your team. And the HC should be the one who lays the law down with his staff and his players. Period. End of story. Granted, many coaches like to be liked and respected, but in some situations you need to be gruff and rough to make sure things are running right w/in the law of the NFL. I know Payton is only human, but he is in a position where he has a higher standard than others. He knows it and he needs to live up to it.

  12. Or maybe he is holding out hope that Indy will come back to him and say "Hey, for vet minimum, we'd like you to come back for a year and teach a new set of TE's how it's done. Then retire a Colt." You know, there's not been a lot of buzz, so maybe Clark isn't really looking too hard for somewhere else to go...could be he's not really ready to be done, but he doesn't want to play for anyone else either...just a thought...

  13. As far as Bill Parcells is concerned, he is an adult. No one is holding a gun to head saying take over my Saints Head Coaching duties or else. Friendship & loyalty can be sticky situations sometimes of course, but you just look him straight in the eye & say, "I'm 70 years old. I want to relax & enjoy life not raise my blood pressure. Can't you find someone in house or on staff to do it? It pains me to say this Sean but I gotta say no."

Nk. What is he thinking saying yes? I know what he's saying...that he feels like he has to help out Payton, that he owes it to him. My response is simply this--No you don't! And by doing this he is putting of the bid to the HOF by 5 yrs...not worth it in my book... ...does he want to be alive to see the day when he gets into Canton???? ... ... ...unless the whole coaching thing has absolutely nothing to do with Payton and everything to do with Brees... ...but still, I stick with this: the Saints should not be allowed to bring in someone else from outside the organization to be HC this year. It's called punishment for a reason.

  14. Now it appears Payton will appeal the severity of the penalties to give him time to help in the draft? Since Goodell is the judge, jury, and executioner he should react swiftly with a "CASE CLOSED!" Then he should say ether SPAGs or Carmichael should act as coaches until Assistant Head Coach Joe Vitt returns from suspension. It is a shame that Bill Parcells feels obligated to help his friend. At 71/72 years of age, he will have to wait for 5 more years for the Hall of Fame. Once again...shameful.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Payton is actually going to appeal b/c he believes it is too harsh???? PUHLEEEZZZEEEEE! The more we find out about how involved he was the more I think his sentence isn't severe enough. And to the argument he will likely give of "it's a common practice in the NFL" I say this--I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S BEHIND! If you do the crime, you do the time. You are guilty sir, and you should not be allowed probation of any kind. See ya in a year! Goodell, stick to your guns sir! We are behind you!

As far as Parcell's is concerned, he should not under any circumstances be allowed to even be considered to come in and be HC this season. I am with you Brent. Someone already w/in the Saints organization should have to fill that spot. No "drafting" from outside should be allowed to take place. The SAINTS as a whole should be punished, and they should feel that punishment.

With concern the the players involved--I don't know all of your names yet, but I find you all dispicable. You should not be allowed to play one more down of NFL football. You should be Pete Rose'd. If I was Goodell, that is what I would do. I'd say "See ya! Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!"

  15. Ok, here's my two cents (for whatever it's worth to ya, lol). First I want to preface this by saying I know SW, that you are not absolving Payton.

As a HC you are to be so involved in your job--aka your team and staff--to the point where you should have knowledge of what is going on. Whether that knowledge comes straight from the horses mouth or from someone on your staff/team that is not directly involved or from hearing the murmurings among the individuals of which you are in charge of, to me it matters not how you know, but you should know. I correlate being a HC as being in management and therefore hold them to the same standards.

I am a manager at my job. It is my job to know what is going on with my people whether I am directly involved in it or not. I am to be attentive enough to be able to tell what someone is doing w/o having to be told. I should be able to read people well enough to know when they are doing what they are supposed to be doing and when they aren't. That is part of my job...the same goes for Payton. If he did not know what was going on, then he should still be punished because he should have known. Likewise of course, if he knew what was going on but was not directly involved in it he should be punished because he didn't take his staff in hand and end it. And finally of course, if he knew and was participating then I find him reprehensible and he should be treated like Greg WIlliams and be suspended indefinitely. No matter what, Payton wasn't doing his job and the punishment is warranted and fair (IMO).

  16. ha. Good guess. Just as good as any.

It's the only thing that makes sense to me...but then I have to remind myself, Irsay isn't about making sense...especially when it comes to his tweets...no, I kid, he does get kinda clever with them really. I like the speculation that the use of the #2 and word second in his tweets are hidden inuindos that RGIII will go second in the draft.

But, I am comfortable and confident that we will take Luck as our pick. It's not something I lose sleep over. Now, if draft day comes and RGIII ends up being a Colt then I will likely want to throw up.

  17. He just tweeted the answer was RG3 but not sure what the sisters part meant.

Since it's a riddle, I'm guessing that the sisters comes in because there are 3 's' in the word sisters giving you the III in RGIII...just my guess though.

  18. "He told me I didn't need to take any more visits," Avery said. "He said what would it take you for you to sign? Give me a verbal commitment on the phone."

Man I love Pagano!! The man doesn't mince words, nor does he waste time. When he said "Let's hunt!" he meant it! Dang! I love the choice of him as HC. He brings an aggressiveness that we sorely need.

I like what Avery brings to the table, but as always, it's up to him to bring his potential to the surface and make it a reality.

    GO GET 'EM PAGANO!

  19. The Pats, hands down. I have no respect for them. Need we remember their fearless leader, Bellychicky (who doesn't know how to buy a new sweatshirt and keep the sleeves attached to it) is a cheater???? I cannot respect cheaters. (And don't get me going on their whiney baby of a QB Tommy Boy...) I used to repsectfully dislike the Saints b/c of how they have improved in the last half dozen years, but with the Bounty Scandal I have lost any respect for them from their owner (b/c I believe he knew what was going on) to HC Payton on down to any player involved. And quite honestly I hope teams pound them in the ground this season...they deserve it.

Finally, I can't stand the Cowboys. Not because they're cheaters, but b/c of all the years they got shoved down my throat as "America's Team." Guess what, I'm an American, and they ain't my team!

So for me I don't like: Patriots

    Saints

    Cowboys

  20. I wouldn't read too much into that quote.

Colts management has, in the past, said things that they had to take back.

I think I will cut the rookie GM some slack here, and allow him the flexibility to do what he thinks is right for the team, without taking away any of his tools to deal with the Freeney cap situation.

I know they have. And I'm not saying that Freeney can't or won't be traded. I'm just saying his statement does say that he is going to be here in 2012. Now, should the time come and Freeney leaves before the season starts, I will not be asking for Grigson's head (like I am sure others will). Slack will be given.

I like what has been done so far by Grigson and Pagano. Hope they keep up the good work.

  21. Freeney is a Colt, period.

I love the title of this thread. I know it is a quote from Grigson, and it is absolutely true.

Freeney is a Colt, period. Contractually, at the present time, Freeney is indeed a Colt.

All the way until he is either cut or traded, or when his contract expires. That is true too.

Notice Grigson did not say that the Colts will not be trading Freeney.

Notice Grigson did not say that the Colts will not be cutting Freeney.

    Actually, Grigson said the following:

“Everyone knows Dwight’s a great player. He’s going to be here this year,” said Grigson.

So, he actually says that Freeney won't be traded or cut in that one highlighted sentence. By saying "he's going to be here this year," Grigson is saying that Freeney will be in Indy for the 2012 season.

That said, I do agree that we need to see about cutting the cap hit we are going to take with Freeney. I would love to see him stay with us and retire a Colt (wouldn't that be great to have our 2 defensive greats always be a Colt and retire that way), but Freeney has to work with us here...if a team wanted him bad enough, they would have jumped by now and paid the high price...the crickets are chrippin' Dwight, time to restructure.
