I have never been question about my fan hood on this forum before this issue arrived
I just want to say that not all of us that are like Andrew and are looking forward to him coming have questioned your "fan hood." I for one have not. Just saying...I hate generalizations...
-
Say farewell!!!
^^Sad day, but we had to know it was coming.
-
Haters gonna hate.
-
Seriously, we have to be the luckiest (no pun intended here) franchise in the NFL on timing. First Manning, now Luck...
I'm ready for another decade plus of good football and winning!
-
He was probably looking for his stolen 2 million
-
PPPPPPPPPFFFFFTTTTTTTTTT I'm so disappointed by this. I really was hoping they would pick Ryan Tannehill at the last second. Most people would probably consider him better looking. His golden hair flows like fine silk in a subtle breeze. It's all about the looks and image nowadays because they can flatter the opposition to death with their charm and brilliant looks.

I kid, I kid!!!!!!
Nice, can't wait to see this kid in action.

Just a note, Pagano has said that we might be one type of denfense on 1st down, another type on 2nd down, still another on 3rd, and who knows on 4th...his concept is "Simple Me, Complex You." Don't be quick to pencil us into a certain style of D.
Also, even though Pagano is HC, you'd better believe that he is going to have a hand in the D and how it is ran. If you think otherwise, then... ... ...
As I said in another post, I do think we will have a better record this year than last. But will we be in the playoffs in 2012? Nope, probably (and most likely) not. Will we be in the playoffs in 2013? A real possiblity. Will we be in the playoffs in 2014? Absolutely.
Why do I say this? We have: talent (already on roster and about to be picked up), our FAs pickups, an owner that is highly competitive, a GM that has his head on straight, and a head coach that is fiesty, demands respect, and gets the most out of a player (based on quotes and comments from his previous players).
I too am optimistic, but I'm gonna keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.
-
I'd been more concerned if it was a continuous absense we were talking about. With it being just one, I am not too worried.
-
Finally. Straight from the horses mouth (so to speak)! I can't wait to see Luck in BLUE and WHITE! Gearing up for another decade of winning
And as Pagano said time to "sleep well" Colts fans.
-
As others have said, many of our losses last year were close games. I know a loss is a loss, but let's face it, we weren't blown out each game. We were competitive and most games until the last half of the 4th quarter. So, no I don't think we suck as some elude. We have talent, numerous draft picks, FA pickups, an owner that is competitive, a new GM that seems to have his head on his shoulders, and a head coach that is a fiesty leader who commands respect and all that a player has to give (this is summized by comments of his former players). The picture isn't as bad as some one like to believe. Will we be in the SB in 2012? Absolutely not. Will we be in the SB in 2013? Most likely not. Will we be in the playoffs in 2012? Nope. Will we be in the playoffs in 2013? I don't think that this is a stretch if our management plays the cards right. But mostly likely we can see our next playoff apperance happening in 2014.
Let's get through the draft, get a better picture of what team we have for this year, and then start talking about wins and losses.

I agree ot an extent except I think Griffin here would be more like Big Ben than Vick or Newton in terms of style of play. While Luck will be more like Matt Ryan early on and Rivers under Schottenheimer
Time will tell I suppose. I don't see Griffin as a Big Ben type player, but he might surprise me. As far as Luck goes, I don't think he'll be anything like Rivers. Rivers frustrates me b/c I think he has talent but doesn't seem to spend enough time perfecting his craft to become a great QB. Luck will spend the time needed to do just that.
As I said earlier, I think both guys will turn into great NFL QBs. And I am satisified with Luck in Indy (but just so you know, it took me a while to get to where I thought he was as good as everyone kept saying. I had to do some research and studying on him before I agreed that he is a good choice).
-
Not saying Luck wont be successful but the offense wont be what you all are use to. Thats what you guys dont understand
My statement that Luck will bring the style of O that we as Colts fans are used to does not mean that I think Luck will be the exact replica of Peyton. It just means that I think (and I would think you would agree with this) that Griffin will have a more Vick/Newton style of play while Luck will have a more Peyton/Brady/Brees style of play. The two are two completely different types. I do think we will see more of an established run game on our offense (thank goodness), but with time we will be a passing style team (that we fans are used to). Now, of course this is my opinion, so we can agree to disagree.
-
But the thing about it is you guys are wrong
In your opinion.
-
Hmmm...I'm beginning to wonder if any of those parties "discussing" on this thread are going to realize that no one is going to convince the other side to agree with them... ...not really an argument that anyone is going to "win."
Luck is an excellent QB.
Griffin is an excellent QB.
All indications suggest that we will draft Luck and Washington will draft Griffin. (Of course this won't be set in stone until Thursday, which can't come soon enough in my opinion...) And both teams (IMO) will be looking towards a bright future. Shanahan and the Redskin staff will do wonders with Griffin, and Arians will do wonders with Luck. (Let's not forget who was here with the Colts at the beginning of Peyton's career...that's right, Arians was a Colts coach before he went to Pitt.)
Both young men seem to have a bright future in the NFL, and I for one am a fan of both. I do think (just my opinion here) that Luck will bring the type and style of football to us that we Colts fans are used to.
I'm geared up and ready for Thursday and Friday to get here. I for one can't wait to see how Grigson handles the draft, and I really can't wait to see some missing pieces of the puzzle to be "found."

There's nothing wrong with having a different opinion, it's the fact you never explain why - as evidenced by you just then saying "you watch the film and tell me" - I've watched a lot of film and can tell you many ways Luck is superior - and also evidenced by this thread, picking up on a negative quote (also with no explanation) and saying "discuss" and running off, leaving no discussion points of your own. It makes people, and me, wonder whether you actually do have any reasons for preferring Griffin, and if so why you don't just explain yourself or back yourself up.
Thanks for saying this so I didn't have too.
Jay, I'm not against Griffin. He's a great QB that I expect to do really well in the NFL, but I don't think he would fit our team as well as Luck will. Too top that off, I'm not trying to be rude, I would just like for you to explain yourself a little more. You leave a statement with absolutely nothing to back it up. Sorry but I'm not a miind reader and I don't personally know you, so you will have to expound upon things so I get where you are coming from. I respect different opinions and in fact like that they make me think...but yours does not make me think because you don't support it with anything (at least not on here).
-
Hey, he has a little bit better vertical jump, Oh wait, nevermind, this isn't the NBA.
-
Hes not just faster than Luck though
... ... ...would you care to elaborate on where Griffen excels past Luck other than speed?
-
Well, I'd like to go watch the Packers game or the Bills game, but the one I'd really like to go see is the Texans home game. The rivalry that we seem to be developing between us and them (albeit a little more one sided on their part...they really don't like us...) is exciting and makes it fun to watch for sure.
-
, easy for me. #2. All I can figure is Caldwell must like and see something we didn't see on the field last season...or maybe he (Caldwell) realizes he slightly messed up Painter by trying to make him run Peyton's offense the way Peyton ran it (which no one can do)...either way it still surprises me Painter got picked up...but then again, the real kicker is if he makes the final squad...
As much as I love our guys (Clark, Brackett, Addai) it doesn't surprise me they are still out there for a couple reasons: 1) they're all older, injury prone players, and 2) it's still relatively early on yet, so there's a possibility they get picked up later (with Addai having the best chance IMO).

I'm surprised the Bronco's didn't want him. He was always one of Peyton's favorite receivers.
The Broncos put in a request for him but got turned down. I expect to see them try again.

"Reports the
"we're looking for a 3d or 4th rd pick for (Samuel) were wrong. They are willing to take a 5th or 6th,"
of the Philadelphia Inquirer."
Should the colts use their 5th or 6th Rounder to get him??
BTW...there's already a thread about this titled Asante Samuel...just saying you might want to check there to see the discussion that's already happened on this subject.

Well, we don't know when Chris took over and when Bill was still in control. I already posted what I've heard, but that's just speculation. And we still have plenty of solid late round picks like Bethea and Mathis still on the team. Regardless, here's hoping Grigs can find us some good talent too and make a name for himself
I hope he does. I've like the pick ups we've made so far. I also like the level head he seems to have. And yes, I like that he isn't talking too much to the media and the public. He's done some talking ehre and there, but he doesn't seem to have diarrhea of the mouth like others in the past and like our fearless owner...I really wish Jim would learn when to stop, but I'll keep wishing on that one...anyways I digress. Here's to Grgison and Pagano doing a good job and caring us into our bright future (hopefully)...

Ok, I get your point. I don't think anyone on this particular thread has said "Luck is going to be the best QB in the NFL."
Instead, what I read are people hopeful that he will be the best. We as Colts fans want our new QB to be great. His numbers at the combine are awesome. And there are some quotes that we like that NFL scouts (guys that have been doing this as a profession for years) have said about him. We are deciding as a fan base to get on board and get excited. What's wrong with that?
I haven't heard or seen anyone say that he is great in the NFL. That can't be said yet seeing as how he has yet to be drafted and an NFL game has yet to be played in his professional career. I get that college and the NFL are two completely different types of football. I argue that point alot myself, but it is ok for us to have hope that Luck will pan out.
Don't you think?
-
You know another quote from the article?
"Andrew Luck is the safest, most no-brainer, franchise-maker, I think Hall of Famer I've seen. Look at his measurables. He's perfect."
Not too bad, eh?
I know, that one got me pretty excited too.
-
Yeah. But if teams dont come calling because of his contract, Eagles will gladly take a 5th from a team that is able to get Samuel to re-structure, on draft day.
True.
How bad will Andrew get booed tomorrow?

Who he is now is a guarantee seeing as that is who he is...
But, you are right in stating there is no guarantee that Andrew will be great...but the probablility and the likelihood of him excelling is huge.
And any football fanatic--someone who follows the NFL online, on tv, through sites such as these, etc--is fully aware of the potential Andrew brings and what he possibily could develop into, so I sould go out on a limb and say that there are fans of other teams that are not exactly happy that we are getting Andrew...and I'd venture to say that they would acknowledge that we are one lucky franchise... ...but of course this is all my opinion.
