  1. I have read the entire post. I've been participating in it all day. Did you miss the part where Brent said (and I quote): "I think we are agreeing...I am not arguing here."

and "I probably was not clear..."

I would question you: Have you read the post. Has Brent not conceded on some things, has he not said that he was not arguing (see above here). What more do you want from him? Blood?

  2. You view it as him emphasizing they were wrong, when he was emphasizing his point. Regardless, it does not give you the right to come at him baiting him into an argument. Last I checked that is frowned upon by the mods. Even if you think he is being rude (which I know Brent so I assure you he is not), you should respond in a manner that is not baiting! Rules of the forum here, so sorry if you don't like it.

  3. Do I think Jeff Fisher knows what kind of man Greg Williams is? In my mind without a doubt.

Do I think Jeff Fisher knows what kind of coach Greg Williams is? In my mind wIthout a doubt.

Therefore, of my own accord and for myself, I can draw a likely conclusion that Jeff Fisher was aware that Williams was running a bounty scheme in NO.

All this is based on (in my mind and my mind only) the fact that the two are close friends. So, my common sense says if these two are as close as they say they are, then the topic of what Williams was doing in NO had to come up at some point...I am just thinking about what I talk about with my close friends, which is usually my job, family, and interests. Now, granted I do not have any evidence, so I cannot say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Fisher knew (but I think we all know somewhere in our minds that he knew).

Now, I am NOT saying that punishment should come upon Fisher just due to circumstances and common sense. No, quite the contrary. We live in a nation where your guilt has to be proven. So, if Goodell decides that such an investigation is of merit and should be conducted then we will wait on evidence to surface. If not, then all we can do is speculate and draw our own conclusions (cause lets face it we all do it).

KD, you bring up something that pains me to even consider (but common sense leads me to the same conclusion as you have stated)...Drew Brees having knowledge of the bounty scheme that was running rampant in the Saints locker room....good grief does it pain me to say that it is highly unlikely Drew didn't know...

That said, I want to throw a thought out there: Yes, he probably knew, but what was he supposed to do about it?

Remember, QBs are commonly the leader of the team, and if he would have "snitched" (which would have been how it was viewed) then how effective would his leadership be...anywhere? Players would feel like they couldn't trust him...and his leadership ability would be damaged in the locker room...so I can live with him knowing but not participating...what I could not live with is him being asked point blank by investigators if he knew and him lying saying he didn't.

  4. It would be nice to see recognition that Daniels was intentionally trying to hurt Peyton. It would also be nice to prove that Williams was doing bounty schemes for most likely his entire NFL coaching career. But sadly, it won't happen.

Since the news of this broke, I knew that Williams had most likely been running schemes like this no matter where he was.--which irritates the heck out of me. :flaming:

I do realize that bounty hunting is more common in the NFL than any of us would like to admit, but I will tell you that I am beyond happy that Commish Goodell has taken a stand and said "NO MORE. IT STOPS HERE." I hope he sticks to his guns regarding all punishment he has issued, and I hope that Williams gets Pete Rose'd from football and is never allowed to coach again--anywhere. :flag:

    That would satisfy me. Emensly.

  5. I like 12, but it's a little over used. For the Colt's sake 17 is perfect for keeping the Unitas and Manning tradition going. Austin Collie can change his number, he's not that special.

Doubtful IMO. Collie is well known enough that he won't be asked to change. I see him wearing 12. Besides, our 12 will be better and greater than that whiner in NE...what's his name? Brody or Bundy... ... :D

  6. Well, sometimes they have had consequences and you just don't know it

sometimes we don't think it crosses the baiting line

That's why we ask people to use ignore and report

    Maureen, I'm sorry I didn't realize.

Truly, I try to not create problems on here b/c I love coming here to talk football. That is what I will continue to do. Hopefully everyone else will do the same.

And I do think you guys do a good job of trying to keep the peace, so thank you for that. :applause:

  7. I think sometimes those not as knowledgeable about the X's and O's of football do not understand when someone is 'baiting the hook.' It takes me a millisecond to see what they are doing and often I see the 'baiters' getting off Scott-free. That is why I got a 24 hour suspension. I try to ignore, and I am getting better at it. Sometime the baiters should be shut down....some seem to like picking on the less knowledgeable fan and even enjoy picking on women. That too has to stop. Nothing upsets me more.

I completetly agree. That was part of what I was trying to say, but did not say. Although, I know it is not right to retaliate it sometimes cannot be helped. The baiters with their veiled comments and such seem to keep walking...the baiters are the real problem causers if you ask me.

But, as I have said, I will continue to try to respond to these baiters in a polite and respectful manner (even if they do not), or I will just altogether ignore them...but I will say, there are times when the cannot be ignored.

I go back to this: if everyone, including the baiters, would behave as an adult and not as someone with an agenda, then our fearless Mods wouldnt have to create threads such as this...oh if only the world was a perfect place... .... ... :sigh:

  8. Have only been on here for a month or so. Have been enjoying it up till now. This post starts out with a simple request and has turned into a heated and not always nice debate. I have seen some rude posts, but I just scroll past them or go to another post and not worry about it. After going through this post, not sure if I am going to put anymore posts here or respond to any of them. Feel uncomfotable writing anything now, surely wouldn't want to offend or get anyone upset. Hope you all iron this out and go back to enjoying this site, may or may not be back. Goodnight to the friends I have made here in this short time

Coltsman51, I hope to see you back. There is always going to be some issues especially when dealing with a lot of people, but like you said you can scroll on past them and just ignore them to continue to enjoy the site. Please don't let some posts and/or people cause you to not want to be on this site. 90% of us are fine and just want to discuss football on friendly terms.

I hope to see you back!

  9. I agree with both moderators. PG said something that I think is key: "It helps to take a step back and look at things from another point of view and that is not easy to do." If everyone is wanting to enjoy debating and hashing out topics and have peace and all that jazz, then why have baited comments. Why make multiple veiled comments? As my Momma always taught me--do and say unto others that you would have them do unto you. Point blank, end of story. It will also help if everyone will remember that most (if not all) everyone is not out to get you, and you will have difference of opinions. But as my Dad always says--opinions are like buttholes, everyone has one. Be respectful of others views and opinions, politely respond, and please leave it at that. Please, I say again, please do not bait others--it tears down what we have here. Remember, we all have one very big thing in common: WE ALL LOVE THE COLTS. I try to think my posts through, and honestly I try to be respectful. Some have baited me, but I do believe that I have done ok with my responses. Let's debate, let's think critically, and let's be the adults we all should be. If we do that, then we will be ok. :yay: :highfive: :grouphug:

I love talking :coltslogo: and I love talking :fb: football :fb: . SO, let's get to it!

    :coltshorse:

  10. I'd like to find a way to end these circular arguments as well. Nobody is going to change their minds so they seem to have devolved into person barbs

Please report when you feel you are being followed and bashed

    thanks

I personally think part of the problem with these arguments are that people state their opinions and then someone comes along and says that their opinion is wrong and that the person is stupid (not in those exact words) for thinking that way. Then the original poster gets upset b/c someone says their opinion is wrong and/or stupid and so they post something back to that person...thus an argument begins. In my opinion, the person who says the original poster is stupid or wrong is the person mostly in the wrong. Again, just my opinion. These arguments would stop if people would respect others opinions, and respectfully disagree. Just my two cents! I know I try to be respectful of everyone, but I do not take it kindly when someone comes at me name calling. I love the Forums and want nothinig other than to discuss topics about the Colts, the NFL, and other things as well. I'm doing my best to be nice :D

  11. I understand your opinion. I just don't agree. To me we can get someone else to get us those 3 points at almost the same amount of the time. Your analogy is like the Charlotte Bobcats signing a basketball player a big salary and then sitting him on the bench for 47 minutes only to bring him in the game to hit free throws at the end. All the while your team is in last place and getting blown out and have few quality skill players that affect 98% of the game. Sure Vinny's contract is a small portion of our cap...however...so is mostly everyone elses. The better comparision is that his contract is in the 6th highest salary on the team followed by Punter Pat Mcaffee. Seriously, two of our top 10 paid players currently on our team are the Kicker followed by the Punter. To me having that kinda kicker is a luxury we don't need. We can get a much cheaper alternative that is almost as effective and get position players that affect a much higher percentage of the plays on the field. If we don't get better at those positions how many of Adams kicks are going to really affect the outcome of the game?? We were blown out in over half our games. That money would be better spent elsewhere IMO. Great kicker...great teammate...just not worth his cost.

We'll agree to disagree. I again agree and go back to what Superman has so eloquently said: the confidence that we, and especially Luck, can and will have with Adam as our kicker is (IMO) invaluable. Takes a little bit off of Luck, even if it is just a small amount.

To address your analogy on the basketball court, if said player comes in and makes those free throws and wins the game for you, is he not worth what you have paid him? Has he not done his job and helped provide what is important--the win? Does he not play a large role to get you where you want to be--the playoffs? (not insinuating that we are going to be in the playoffs this year, it's just an analogy, b/c let's face it Adam has played a huge part in the past.)

And don't even get me ging on the fact that most people underrate the value of a great kicker and punter. Yes, I get that these guys are not on the field for a lot of minutes during the game, but when they are they can greatly affect the outcome. Kickers and punters are important positions.

Also, Adam's leadership ability in the locker room and on the sidelines cannot be over looked. And if you ask me, having this kind of kicker is a luxary we cannot help but keep. The other positions that have been vacated will provide the space and $$ needed to fill in the holes in certain positions that we have right now (next year). Like has been stated, look at how much we have in cap space for this time next year. I believe we'll be ok as far as filling in the areas needed.

To me, the argument being made doesn't hold water when we are looking at $3 or $4 million dollars. Sometimes the things you can't put a dollar amount on out weigh the actual monetary part of an equation. To me, this is one of those times. So, to me he is worth the cost.

Again, a disclaimer here--this is my opinion, you are allowed yours and you have stated it nicely. Thank you for your insightful post.

  12. I've not read anything were Irsay is fawning over Griffin III. The media are trying to make a story out of it. I think Irsay being so quiet about it (yes quiet b/c compared to other issues and things in recent past he has been way more vocal) tells us that we are taking Luck. I have no worries. Luck will be wearing #12 in a blue and white uniform this season.

  13. I've got to agree with absolutely everything Superman has said regarding this issue. There is no sound, solid reason to let him go. Keep him. He can win us games this year. And the subtle underlying tone of a kicker is just a kicker and isn't that important other than playoffs is just ridiculous. Just like free throws win basketball games, so do field goals. 3 point is 3 points. Vinitari hasn't showed any sign of slowing down to me, so IMO we keep him.

  14. Everyone is allowed their opinions. I have not called anyone out and said their opinion was wrong. I did get offended at being stereotyped (which was apologized for and I thank you for that apology AndrewLuck287), but I never said anyone was stupid or insinuated that someone was closed minded (which was done by vitoaf27). Nor have I said that anyone disagrees with my opinion is wrong for what they think. Instead, I have just stated what I like and what I would like to see, and why I would like to see the uniforms remain unchanged.

I also do not think that if the uniforms had been drastically changed that our "brand" would be hurt because of it. I never insinuated that it would be.

And I wasn't talking about baseball or basketball, I was talking about NFL. My point by naming some teams whose uniforms I think should not be altered drastically was that they have been around a lot longer than other teams, and yes I do like to see history represented. (Sorry for that, b/c I'm sure that will be a wrong thing to say as well.) I do realize that what uniforms look like now is not exactly what they looked like in the 60's but some have not been drastically changed. I like that.

It seems that because I have my opinion and that I don't happen to agree with those that would like to see changes I have been called out on it. I don't get it. I'm literally sitting here scratching my head. Apparently for liking how our uniforms look I am stupid and have no vision and am a stick in the mud...how's that??? I'm sorry I happen to like our traditional look. I'm glad they are virtually unchanged, and that the material (which we all knew would be different) is the only real difference.

One last thing and I am done. In my first post on this thread I said this: "...it is absolutely ok that some people want to see them change--it's called an opinion for a reason"

I also said this: “I feel I should add a disclaimer after reading some of the previous posts on this thread--this post in no way has anything to do with anybody else's posts made thus far, it just has to do with what the thread is about--changes to the Colts uniform and what I think and would like to see happen.”

Now, I did refer to AndrewLuck287 in my most current post, but I have explained why I did.

Again, these are my opinions. I do not begrudge anyone else their opinion, so please do not begrudge me mine.

  15. Why do you all want the exact same boring uniforms? Blue and white. Wow exciting. I want something different! A really cool alt, but you oldies wont even consider an alt???

I love how you assume that all of us who like our classic look are "oldies". I for one am not old. At all.

It's also a little narrow minded to think that all older people don't want change. A word of advice for you (just so you don't upset someone in the future): don't make sterotypical generalization assumptions. I know many "oldies" as you call them that would love a change in the uniform. Likewise, I know many younger people (like myself) who happen to like the classic look we have now.

I agree with KarlKuffs that gray would probably not look good with our blue, but I also think that black with our blue would look gross. So, why even do an alternate look?

I will go back and restate something I said earlier on this thread. There are certain teams in this league that could do a more modern look, and then there are teams that need (in my opinion) to remain with their classic look, such as: the Packers, the Steelers, the Cowboys, and us. I might also add the Chiefs and 49ers to that list. It's about honoring the history of the NFL for me.
