  1. Pep and the conservative Chuck are buying too much into this ground and pound. The Colts came out after the opening fg like they had a 20pt lead and were trying to ice the game. This is not Stanford and this forced run game is hit or miss. Our passing game is starting to suffer with drops etc. and looks out of sync. Bad call to bring Pep in as oc and I'm sticking with that until he can prove he's able to attack a team's weakness on a weekly basis instead of the ground and pound approach no matter what. This offense lacks imagination and is starting to make Luck look like Kyle Orton. Where's the no huddle? If Sean Payton had this offense it would be a nightmare! Oh well the Pep experiment continues...

I agree with everything, but the bold part. Payton has been unusually conservative this year. It cost him the Pats game on Sunday and allowed inferior teams to keep the games closer than they should have been

  2. I think he's doing fine. His play-calling had nothing to do with our receivers drops, the defense giving up bone-headed penalties (resulting in three 1st downs to Chargers), and it's not like he had the authority to go for it on 4th down instead of punt (at least I assume he doesn't have that authority). He's at least trying to mix up his play-calling with the flea flicker play, occasional screen, etc.

Our defense didn't give our offense enough chances. Too many 3rd down conversions were given up today. You have any QB sit on the bench for that long and your offense will be out of rhythm. Let's also not forget it was Monday at San Diego. It was a long flight for Indy in a loud Monday night stadium. It was so loud, Luck couldn't communicate effectively with his receivers. Fleener had to tell the receivers in the flats what the play call was, or so the announcer said.

You can point a lot of fingers at this loss, but Pep Hamilton isn't the main culprit.

It's called situational awareness. When you see the defense struggling, you want to put some points on the board. It makes the opposing offense 1 dimensional and helps your D. Instead we killed the clock and played right in the Chargers game-plan. By the time Pep let Luck loose it was too late in the game to make a difference.

Outside of the Raiders game, we have started out slow. Eventually Luck bailed us out in all but the Miami and Chargers game. We just ran out of time in those 2 games. You cant win consistently in the NFL, by putting your team in a hole and hoping your stud of a QB bails you out.

  3. Neither one is the GOAT. Brady and Manning are all time greats but also products of the watered down modern day NFL offensive crazy media machine. This is nothing like the old days.......

And we all know NE got away with a lot in 2001. We all know this deep down.

You mean when the top teams would drastically out spend everyone else. Even the Yankees never out spent the rest of the league as the 49ers did in the 80s. During the strike of 1987, only the 49ers as a whole were against striking.

The good old days when you can buy championships.

Also, the reason for the crazy offensive numbers is because the size of defenders drastically increased in the late 80s, early 90s. If offenses didn't open up, your average game would currently end with a 0-0 tie. The defenders of now are too big, too strong and too fast compared to the old days

  4. If those hadn't been called people would have been screaming about how the refs cheated us two weeks in a row.  They were not bail outs.  They were fouls that were correctly called.  It's not lucky to have the refs do their jobs.

Rather you like it or not the Colts players played extremely well today and the coaches coached a very good game.  Pep's call to have Luck run the boat leg on the goalline was a great call at the perfect time.

Also after all hearing all week how NO ONE runs the 49ers the Colts did just that for almost 180 yards on the ground thanks to a combination of great play from the players and the coaches coming up with a game plan that made it work for the players.  Then on defense they made Kaep look like a rookie QB.  I will say on defense they got some help from the 49ers giving up on the run for reasons unknown.  Then on special teams our guys kept making plays all day on the 49ers return team.  The Colts out played and out coached the 49ers today and the score reflects just that.

    1) Last week there was a penalty that should not have been called, not the same thing

    2) The 49ers cant stop the run, theyre playing a 3-4 without a NT. Glenn Dorsey is a joke. You wont find any posts from me complementing theyre run D. Although you will find that I recommended starting Bradshaw on a fantasy team because this year's 49ers struggle with the run.

    3) The players played their hearts out this week, I never complained about them. My issue is with Pep.

  5. no they didn't the fouls were just that fouls. They weren't even questionable. The lengths some people are going to to have avoid admitting the colts played well is disturbing.

There are legitimate fouls being committed on almost every play. Sometimes theyre called, sometimes theyre not. We were lucky that they were called because we would not have converted the third downs without the refs. By that point in the game our offense was stagnant and SF had no problem limiting us to just field goals.

You have seen me post long enough on here and the other forum to know, I'm not a sky is falling type of fan. I'm not in favor of firing Pep in the middle of the season, getting rid of an OC in the middle of the season doesnt work out well for the team.(the Ravens were the exception) But if play calling doesnt improve, Pep needs to be shown the door after this season is over.

  6. The Niners look like the Steelers all of a sudden. Just no talent for Kaep to throw to. No read option either. May be a long year for Kaep. Hawks are 3-0 with a win against them to boot.

They're still running plenty of read option, its just not working. Teams dont havce to respect the passing game, so they are keeping a spy on him

Its the same strategy the Bucs used to use with Vick(when he was still playing for Atlanta) and it worked very well

  7. I know this thread is left over from last week however if people really want to be negative I don't think this is the week to do it.  The Colts played a nearly perfect game today.

There was nothing perfect about this game, the refs bailed us out. We failed to convert third downs twice on the drive that ended with a Luck rushing TD. That was the drive that sealed the game for us and without the refs help this game could easily have had a completely different ending.

Pep's play calling is incompetent at best.

  8. 21isSuperman's list is a lot closer to mine than that of the article. I would change a couple of things though. Switch Kaep and Griffin in the accuracy and intelligence categories. I would also consider putting Kaep ahead of Newton on the durability list. The much better talent around him will lessen the opportunities of him taking a big hit.

Tannehill and Cousins also deserve some love on the young talented qb list. I would put Tannehill ahead of Newton on the overall list. Cousins has a very small sample pool, but hes been impressive every time he took the field. If not for the fact that Griffin is an injury just waiting to happen, Cousins could be great trade bait. I would much rather have him than any qb currently on the jets, titans, vikings or jags rosters

  9. I just need to ask Austintatious never to ask for a trade for any of my players. :)

Two years ago, in a coltclique forum FF league, he asked for Andre Johnson early in the season and AJ being my round 1 pick, I refused. Then the AJ injury happened and cut my production down.

Last year, in the colts.com forum FF league, he asked for Rob Gronkowski a few games into the season and I refused again. Then the Rob Gronkowski injury happened and took significant production from my team down.

Let's keep the streak alive. Draft Brady early

Can someone do me a favor? I'm sending messages around to the Elite league first.

Can someone tell me what's the Forum Name of the these people: Build the Monster, Blackhawk, League Champion, Fresh 4 Life.

If you are one of these people, please send me a message.

    you called?

  10. Look, I'm not trying to slam Peyton. It pains me to send any constructive criticism his way at all. This season was a tailor made opportunity to have homefield advantage & have a smooth ride to the AFC Championship Game. I wanted this game vs the Patriots so bad I could taste it. I love this rivalry & I have tremendous respect for the Patriots. I don't hate them. They are my benchmark team for how good both the Colts & Broncos are.

No, I don't think that Peyton is done. But, the sand in the hour glass is dropping & Peyton needs help. I also, can't look past his weaknesses anymore. Yes, he's a HOF QB, but darn it I want him to win 1 more SB & if that means taking my blinders off so be it. Cold showers can be very liberating. Brady can win 8 SB's that's fine with me. Just do whatever you have to Pat Bowlen & John Elway to get Peyton a 2nd SB. "The ends justifies the means." Do whatever you must John Elway. Get Peyton more help now!

In that case, they need to trade Manning back to the Colts to be Luck's backup

    :dancing:

  11. Peyton is a great player--can't see how anyone seriously can bag him.  Only thing about today's game I would query is why he just didn't throw that last pass away

Than you weren't watching carefully. There were a lot of Luck-esque throws. The entire game I was thinking two things. 1. Luck gets away with a lot of bad decisions due to his physical ability, while Peyton's withered body doesnt give him the same protection. 2. Luck needs to do a lot of video study on his ill advised throw this off season

  12. You do realize majority of the Colts fanbase hate the Patriots, and only look at the Texans as a team we have to play and care nothing about?

If not for the Houston trolls, I doubt their team would be mentioned on this board. They are irrelevant to us.

Kind of sad that as a fanbase we hate bob and the skins more than the texans despite playing them only once every 4 years

  13. That's pretty sad. I'd love to see Gonzalez get at least one win.

Yet he will still a first ballot HOFer and considered one of if not the best player at the position.

You will never be able to say the same about a QB with that post season record

  14. Yep I've always thought him and Ryan were a step below the great QBs in the NFL but needed to do more in the playoffs to prove they should be in that group.  This might be remembered as the year Flacco and Ryan joined that group.

I don't know if Ryan can overcome the curse of Tony Gonzalez.. I have a gut feeling Gonzalez will retire this season without a single post season win

  15. The Packers have 24 points right now so yes his team has scored 24 points.  You don't adjust points you get credit for what's on the board.  Also I don't care who the QB is if your defense gives up 600 yards to another offense you aren't going to win. It's really hard to say the other teams QB choked when the other team has racked up that much yardage on your defense

I feel bad for Rodgers, his team is headed in the same direction our Colts went last decade. They're going to give a ton of money to Raji and Mathews. Most of their salary cap will go to a handful of players, while scrubs fill the rest of the positions. I see a lot more one and dones in Rodger's future. A shame too, because Rodgers has the talent to be the best ever

  16. Lol come on man. Every post you see myself or Vance make you twist it around somehow to make it negative about our quarterback or our team. Get a hobby. What if Schaub wins a SB this year? No, wait, I think I know the excuse: " Well Unitas has way more SB wins!"  It's getting old fast man. We can all get along and criticize other QBs without criticizing each other lol.

He will finally achieve his goal of being better than Trent Dilfer and move on to his next goal of being the best QB in the division

  17. Funny thing is we were planning on taking either Dalton or Kap but they were both scooped up before we got the chance. Imagine how things would have turned out then.

I'll take Luck over both. I wanted Mallett in the third round of that draft,(Hoodie read my mind(I also wanted Solder in the first)) but if we took him, we would not have been in position to grab Luck. The same applies to Colin and Dalton.

Plus we might still have Caldwell if we didnt suck all season long. Things worked out for the best

  18. That Kap dude is a monster. He's like a better version of Cam Newton.

Warren Moon said the same thing. I never liked Moon as a player, but he seems to be great at evaluating talent. He didnt buy into the Bob hype and he put his support behind Colin before anyone knew who this guy was
